bit.ly/PianoLes... selfhelpmart.co... Since 2008 Lang Lang 郎朗 has inspired over 40 million Chinese parents to send their children to learn piano lesson in China.
Wonderful, thank you dear LangLang . You are perfect and your character is always strong , I love Romaninoff and you. I’m here and I attend for you. You are the best pianist in the world.🥀🥀🥀💕💕🌺💕
This performance MUST and SHOULD dispel any notion (false IMO) that Mr lang is anything but an inspiring, gifted and totally committed artist. This most beautiful and cohesive perforce (with thanks to a wonderfully attentive conductor and orchestra) was driven by Mr Lang's purposeful, emotional pianism, and when needed, body language. Argerich also delivers in this manner. All 3 movements were so musical, with well judged rubato and effective left hand pointed rhythms and melody counter-point. Kudos to the woodwind trio in the closing pages of the 2nd movement. IMO, the 3rd movement tempo Lang chose was just perfect, musical, un-rushed yet still exuberant. Lastly, his sharing with the orchestra and conductor his joy and appreciation during the applause HAS to endear himself with orchestra and audience. I felt privileged to view this most wonderful performance. A repeat viewing is in order.
Dear Robert.Hello from Japan. I totally agree with your comment. Lang Lang made the most beautiful performance with superlative conductor and orchestra.
He is a talent which was forged in a fire of hard work and struggle and came out a golden treasure!! And he inspires the other musicians around him to put their heart and soul into their music.
LL should have given this fabulous, warm and appreciative fans at least one more encore!. SSO is very good. All together their performance under the wand of Maestro Jahja Ling and the excellent interpretation of LL's piano have made this beautiful concerto an outstanding rendition. Bravo and a standing ovation!
Bennett Markel Lang Lang, the modern master, one compensation for living in these lousy times. Every single note stands out and is of importance to him.
This is an awe-inspired interpretation. Lang Lang does not need theatrics at the piano for people to perceive his greatness. His natural stage presence, virtuosity and emotive connection suffices.
Lang Lang become the music, the music become Lang Lang! The piece flow out right of him. Some people complain for his body language. In my view, without it, the piece will be discounted by a large portion. I lost breath at 30:00 - 30:25...
Unlike many serious music aficionados I think he has a positive role in concertgoing. If some of his fans come to realize that there are far better musicians (not talking about showmen here) around, so much the better for them. And if they don't, so much the worse for them, but nobody is hurt. And better-equipped listeners will continue to enjoy listening to the true musicians.
This is excellent video and audio recording , vision is very clear and orchestra' sound is full and spectacular , Lang Lang play with full of sensitiveness and dynamically , I think best of Rachmaninov concerto 2 !!! I wish I was there !!!!
Lang Lang is great, one of the best pianist, but this Rachmaninov Concerto No. 2 I like tha interpretation made Yuja Wang at the Verbier Festival. Two of the best artist that China has given us.
And if only the sound quality of this video could be better, could we feel more power from Lang's performance. Wang's version was full of passion and power and the clarity of her performance was just great.
Lang Lang played Beethoven very well ! probably the best ever ! Of course He has no problem playing Beethoven's follower Rachmaninoff's composition. They are all the same flock of birds together. No Doubt about it ! George Wu, Artist/ Architect, AIA, NCARB 2014-4-12
True, like Lang Lang said that Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No 2 is so emotional, beautiful and tragic. I was moved just hearing the first several notes.
Oh my, my favorite Chopin behind the the narrator......ugh. Anyway, if he only inspires young people to consider Classical music, and Rach II is a great piece to start neophytes with if the only piece they've heard is Moonlight Sonata! Well, I take it back, this is Australia and I guess some audiences do applaud after the first movement. Perhaps there are more young people than usual because of LL.
Jason!! Didn't know you were a Rachmanovian! LOL I must say that some of his mannerisms earlier in his career could be taken to be a bit "theatrical." However, this performance is, on it's own merits wonderful, so full of individual moments, and never lacking in cohesion, especially the 3rd movement. The 2nd movement, the orchestra really shines. That woodwind trio during the closing pages has been problematic on nearly every recording, due to the "2 against 3' rhythm, and the want of the pianist to play a bit with tempo. This performance was the best ever in this regard.
It's one of those rare exceptions to my general "meh" stance towards the piano. I blame my obsession with tone. And control. And artistry. Something like that. I saw this because you commented on it, so thank you for that. :)
Many years ago , between Science and Music I chose Science : I WAS WRONG !! The positive edge is that NOW I'M SURE OF IT , thanks to RACH , and LANG or YUJA . A propos , I can't choose between THEM two but.. am I forced ? Not indeed , I take them both :D :D
The wider range of the beautiful musical notes that Rachmaninoff had is after Beethoven; yet the continuous of melodies by Rachmaninoff are after Bach. That is only my personal opinion, you don't have to agree with me. George Wu, Artist/ Architect, AIA, NCARB 2014-4-12
I'll comment only on the beginning and ending. I tell you, you'll never hear any pianist play the opening chords at such a pretentious, lugubrious, tortured crawl as what he does here. Now in regard to the ending, you'll never hear this coda played in such a brazenly precipitous, overly rapid tempo. No matter. His audiences love it - - they thrive on it.
...no offense, I have seen this played live in person on numersous occassions by numerous pianists.....for me, this performance had many little mistakes, and it seems the orchestra is always trying to catch up with him.....my most memeorable performance of this piece is performed by Anna Fedorova....
Did I hear he mentioned the name Lizst at the end ? I cut the video off when I heard the name Lizst, because I have no respect of a society artist, whether it is a musician Lizst or an architect, Philip Johnson ! George Wu, Artist/ Architect, AIA, NCARB 2014-4-12
