Although praised for his Liszt, Lang-Lang's First Movement Opening & Closing of Rakhmaninov's 2nd Concerto beats even Richter & Weissenberg......BRAVO from Mexico!
Thank you for this nice sharing! I'm a sincere admirer of Mr. Lang Lang's *genius* , - however l don't understand well why he chooses to adopt such mannered gestures (which he never did before), particularly at the beginning of the concerto...🤔😉
Let's dedicate this gorgeous event those who need to become your supporters from now on, keep up be strong & never let bad guys win to screw us the joy of life ❤🎉❤
Lang has a tendency to drag down the speed to showcase his "poetic" phrasing disregard the 3 century old tradition of Mozart playing, and it just makes the concerto sound muddy and stymied. To cater to his dragging speed, the orchestra just gets slower and slower to the point that they are playing andante at the end of the first movement, and you'd think the orchestra members all catch covid-19 in the interim and have to be rushed to the ICU.
A very grown up piece for Lang Lang to perform. Still an automaton but not too bad. It's like watching a robot who has been perfectly programmed perform
@@normabyde4766 In your opinion. Try listening to the truly great pianists of today, such as Argerich, Kantorow, Malofeev, Hough etc. You may then learn what an expressive pianist is (and it's certainly not 'Bang Bang' (as most people who enjoy classical music call him))
