Wonderful video! The inverted grip is one of my favorite aspects of messer fencing (and something I still could use improving on)! I will hopefully be getting my first steel messer trainer soon, so I'll hopefully be able to pressure test my technique against other HEMA fencers! P.S. I appreciate the use of the masks 🖤⚔😷
Can you give a recommendation on glove choice when working with Messer in full gear? I have been working with it for a while but all I have is fully steel gauntlets or my bare hands. I usually borrow my left handed classmate's right hand lacrosse glove when sparring and it works alright for the synthetic work but with steel I am worried about gaps.
Hey there, that's a very good and reasonable question. We usually use something like motorcycle gloves when going with nylon and aluminium and low intensity, but when you try to go full speed and intent, I definitely recommend maximum protection. We have Sparring Gloves' "Infinity Gloves" in use in our club (check out Peter's review here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ANeATTfvBfA.html) however I personally had to make some adjustments to them to make them work for Messer. ProGauntlets look promising too, but we didn't have the chance to test them properly, so far. Hope I could help a little and give some pointers what to look for. - Cheers, Ulrik
