Very similar to the Zpacks Duplex design, this is a 2-man Ultralight single skin tent, ideal for backpacking, made in silnylon fabric (siliconized nylon) with strengthened anchor points, and longer dimensions than the previous Lanshan 2 version.
www.aliexpress.com/item/40004...
Weight 1050g
Tent alone 915g
Inside Length 2.30 m (90")
Inside Width 1.15 m (45")
Inside Height 1.20 m (47")
Storage size inside stuff sack 34 cm x ø15 cm (13" x ø6")
The green silnylon fabric MUST be sealed with a silicone sealant. Others will not stick, they just peel off. I ordered SIL-TEC 42g from Vaude….(which is on the official 3F video on RU-vid).
www.hardloop.co.uk/product/10...
But I actually received this one...
Gear Aid SEAM GRIP + SIL 42g
www.amazon.co.uk/Mcnett-Silne...
The black reinforced areas on the tent are not silnylon, they are a thicker, stronger fabric. On those areas you can use any seam sealer.

Took mine out to WY and spent the night. 75 degrees during the day and probably 40-50 at night. It was windy. Inside stayed very dry. There was condensation inside but nothing dropped to the floor. I used a rag to wipe some off. Before packing it up, I shuck the two poles a little and most of the water just flew off the outside. Went back in the same bag just as easily as it were dry. I will say that in the cold night there was a significant difference between this tent and the 4 person large well known winter tent we also had-for the kids. This one is better suited for normal temperatures. If you like to sleep cold or like to bring a heavy sleeping bag, this will work. Note that I pitched it high for the breeze during the day not realizing the major drop at nighttime. I love this tent. Highly recommend it to anyone.
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 4 года назад
Thanks Brock! 👍 Great feedback. It is certainly a drafty place to be inside at night and a little chilly but I just wear extra layers to keep warm. I don’t camp in the cold weather so the lightweight aspect is perfect for me when hiking 🤙

@@JustinWhiting9 after looking at this tent in depth to me it looks like a proper summer tent as the gaps on the bottom are high and the mesh inside looks to sit below the line of the bottom more so perched on a sleeping bad like a Neo Air or similar 3 to 4 inch height pad most people will use. I can imagine on the coast or moorland where it is never still in the UK it would be a blustery nights sleep in this?

Maybe so. Check out my other wild camping vids in it. I’ve camped in Scotland and The Lake District. See my other vids. I only need it for 2-3 season camping when hiking so it’s good for me. 👍 Justin

A really good few tips I have picked up from this video, I will get my wife to put some reinforced patches on our lanshan tent she is a professional seamstress with industrial sewing machines, I wonder if the extra pegging point at the head and foot end of the tent helps the net to slope away from the bathtub floor and prevent condensation ingress. Many thanks
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 3 года назад
Thanks John. Yes, modifications like that would work. Remember to seam seal every stitch afterwards. The side tie-out points create extra head-room but do not improve condensation. However, I did my own mod to the bath tub floor to deal better with any internal condensation that does run down. It works very well! I have made videos on these subjects for the L2pro. Check out my channel. I have done 5 videos on this tent in total. I think you might find some of that useful. Cheers man, Justin.

Indeed. The problem is not the leaking but being showered with the condensation when there is heavy rain outside. I won't take my down sleeping bag with this tent any more.
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 2 года назад
Two errors there. Both yours. You chose to go out in heavy rain. You chose a pitch with high condensation. Don’t blame the tent.
@hnahler
@hnahler 2 года назад
Beggars can't be choosers. Some people cannot take annual leave at their leisure but when their job allows, planned many months in advance. The weather is then what it is. It rains in Scotland. I know how to pitch the tent to optimise ventilation. It just doesn't work when there is no wind.
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 2 года назад
In that case, you should always take a double skin tent to Scotland.
@Jedward7009

It will be interesting to see how the tent copes with condensation when the wind is rattling the fly sheet once you use it. I have a feeling the wind rattling the fly sheet may cause any condensation which has formed on the fly sheet to drop into the tent. Hope I’m wrong. I have the old version of the Lanshan 2. Just waiting on a 4 season inner tent that I have ordered. I find the old version of this tent great in warmer conditions but can feel drafty and cold when it is windy and colder outdoors. Hopefully the 4 season inner will resolve this problem. Cheers for the video, look forward to you testing it outdoors. 👍
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 4 года назад
Thanks Mike 👍 I think you are right. The drops would shake off in the wind, but in windy conditions it would be less humid and so less condensation. Still damp conditions would probably be worse... Looking forward to getting out soon. Thanks for commenting, subscribe chap! 👍 🥾 ⛺️

I mistakenly ordered the tent with the 4 season inner ... lucky its Winter here in Oz! Took it out for the first time last weekend. Didn't get awfully cold as we expected but it did rain. All dry and warm - zero condensation. Will take it out again in a few weeks, hopefully on a much colder night. But I'll need that 3 season inner as it starts to get warmer :)

Hey Justin. Got the tent, seam salant done with syringe. In the rain seam were good, no water coming though. When the rain was hitting hard against the tent there is a spray through. Should this happen? Should I spray waterproof all over?
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 3 года назад
Spray coming through the tent? Or was it condensation from your breath on the inside of the tent which was being vibrated off and falling to the tent bathtub? Do not spray waterproof sealant on the outside surface of a L2pro unless it is a silicone based sealant. Even then, I would not do it. Other spray sealants will just peel away when it is dry.

You don't really need to seam seal the tent unless it has factory defects. I have a few friends using it in the Uk and the Alps it and it was perfectly good since first use.
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 3 года назад
Hi Federico, it will keep light rain out but for storms or long heavy rain it will eventually leak through the pin holes from the stitching, particularly down the diagonals, and also into the bathtub via the 2 top cones and the side wall anchor points. Here is the official video from 3F UL for seam sealing the Lanshan Pro tents.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TvEfTExVzSk.html Also, watch this great video by a different Justin on his channel It's Good in the Woods...... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BK57vewgfXg.html 👍 🌧🌧🌧

Not alot of ventilation holes in the tent interior .
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 3 года назад
Well, the whole skirt can be lifted up as much 6-10 inches all the way around the tent, and then ventilation is considerable. It’s a single-skin tent and a drafty place to be when it’s windy.
@lifesahobby
@lifesahobby 3 года назад
@@JustinWhiting9 I just mentioned it as it can feel like water is penetrating the seams when it is condensation from breathing . . There are few tents which I have encountered that deal with ventilation and waterproof at the same time. A bit of creativity is required . You seemed very happy at the end of the video . Did you get to try it out in a rain storm ?
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 3 года назад
Yeah, single skin tents are prone to collecting condensation, that’s true. I have wild camped about 12 times in it now in various conditions including rain, wind, snow, high up, low down, in trees, next to water. Check out my other vids (too many, I know, sorry 😉). Never leaked once. I mop up condensation with a thin microfibre cloth. Very happy with this tent 👍 Justin

How much water did it soak up? If you are backpacking you would have to carry that water weight since you wont have the luxury of waiting for the tent to dry.
@JustinWhiting9
@JustinWhiting9 4 года назад
Hi Dan, yeah it does soak up a bit, but it’s not heavy. You can shake the excess off easily. I mean it’s not 10 kg like a wet winter woollen coat or anything. It’s still lightweight. I would be surprised if it was as heavy as 100g in weight, probably less. Thanks for commenting, subscribe too fella! 👍 ⛺️ Justin
