Good interview Hectorin! The juras were wild AF back in the day and did NOT take any shit from anyone! A relative became a placa right before the riots and he said it was no joke. He totally became a different person as soon as he got that placa on his chest. He said Los was a great place to start a career because it’s non stop and you learn so much. Years later he lateraled over to a rich City and was stress free after that.
Great interview Hector! Communication is key anywhere. I remember new officers would look at me crazy because I had good rapport with the OGs and dudes that did real time. Nobody likes to be treated like shit. Having good communication skills keeps the bullshit to a minimum.
Crack was big in the Eighties! With Governor Duke back then he said build more Prisons , because crack heads we’re starting to fill up the twelve prisons we had back then. That’s when CDC, decided to fill up all twelve Gyms.
Hello Lt. Bravo, this interview reminds me of two films. Colors with Sean Penn and Freedom Writers (awesome true movie). I remember that era and watching the news while the riots were going on.
Good evening LT. In the year you were born, the County of Los Angeles would issue you a S&W model 15 and 18 rounds to solve the ills of the world. Automatics were a pipe dream that we NEVER thought would happen. We also had no handheld rover radios to call for assistance. You didn't get into shit you couldn't fight your way back to the car to make the call. As you know, your mouth was your best tool. We haven't even talked about the Cocaine Cowboy Days or PCP of the 80-90's. Good interview. Bringing me back to mis tiempos. Had we had body cams I'd of probably met you at Centinela. Times have changed.
LMAO! Thank you for sharing that, I was laughing at your “bodycam” comment. I am so intrigued by that timeframe and I think it’s because I was a kid at that time. I was watching it go down through the eyes of innocence.
🙏Great interview drill seargent Hector green hearing from the inside department like this:). Thanks and keep pushing aka forward the right way like this:)
