Just purchased a bottle to split with a buddy. We will open it tonight. The ABV on this release is lower than Last year’s release. This years release is also more expensive than the previous years. This is why I chose to split a bottle. I think you need to do a side by side with the standard 10. It may bring out the fruit a more. Love ya guys!!! Stay safe out there, Dummies. Duane get well soon!!! The whisky fabric is pulling for you!

Hey Guys: Nice review as always. I loved the vivid description of the burning log and the burning barn. I also enjoyed that Scott got fruit notes on the second sip. I have a bottle of this that I tasted in a Zoom Tasting, from Islay and Brooklyn, with John Campbell and Simon Brookings, who lives a few blocks away from me in Brooklyn. I was also able to pick out fruit notes in the second and third sip. I have not done my own notes for this yet, but I will send them along when I do. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts as usual. Just finished grilling bluefish in an Apple Cider marinade with Ground cloves over roasted potatoes. Very Tasty. The apple notes and cloves mixed well with the oily taste of the bluefish. I know they have Striper in Ireland and Scotland, which is known there as Atlantic Bass. They may have Bluefish as well since it is on this side of the North Atlantic. I think I will pour some Càirdeas as an aperitif. Stay Safe and Stay Healthy!! SLÁINTE Mike

Looking forward to trying it, but I think you guys are quite a bit off on the general price point. This year's release seems to be over $100 everywhere, and I've seen it up to $125; I think they were planning an increase on the price anyway, and then the tariff issues began. Great review!

Hey Guys: Here is my complete tasting notes. Enjoyed a glass of Laphroaig Càirdeas 2020 Port and Wine Casks last night, here are my impressions LAPHROAIG Càirdeas 2020 Port and Wine Casks 11/7/20 NCF, 52% ABV, matured in second-fill Ruby Port ‘barriques’ along with whisky double matured in ex-Bourbon barrels followed by ex-red wine casks. (Laphroaig.com) Bottle is 1/2 full so air has mixed with the spirit COLOR: Medium Brown with a Reddish tint. Nice ring with legs running variously, with some beads. NOSE: Sweet Peat, Licorice and a hint of wine note. PALATE: Peat Smoke arrival with an Ashy sense. A black Licorice arises as I swirl. The mouthfeel is medium with a slight silkiness. A red grape arises as I continue to swirl it. Peat smoke continues to waft around along with a slight pepper. FINISH: Light pepper going down with pepper and a drying sense on my tongue which transitions to a mouthwatering sense with a licorice note lingering. With 1 drop of spring water NOSE: Light Licorice, Faint red wine note PALATE: Light pepper arrival a lighter Peat smoke arises as I swirl it around along with a light hot sauce note. Licorice also comes through as I swirl. The mouthfeel is similar to Neat. Some numbing in the walls of my mouth FINISH: Ashy Peat with a very drying sense, plus pepper tingling my throat and mouth. Again a licorice note resolves With 2 drops of Spring water NOSE: Light grape and Sweet Peat note mingled. Light Licorice rises late. PALATE: Licorice arrival transitioning to medium Peat smoke and pepper dancing on my tongue. Peat smoke intensifies as I swirl the spirit. FINISH: Sweet Licorice note mixed together with Peat smoke and Pepper with a sweet cream note in the end The finish with 2 drops of water was the highlight of this glass for me. A tasty combination of notes!! Air really opened this whiskey. The enjoyable Peat notes were still there but I also got red grape notes and a sweet cream note which nicely came out of left field. My earlier glasses of this whisky hinted at more complexity but now that air has mixed in, I find that the signature Laphroaig Peat Bomb, which I LOVE has backed off and allowed some of the other notes to come forward. Recommended!

I have the same question... ya... it’s more expensive, but we get to try a different style of Laphroaig. I haven’t bought this... but plan to soon just for the experience. It’s a young one, so I’m sure it will be a peat buster! Cheers

If you're sipping for taste, and at 52% It should last. Otherwise I'm going for Ardbeg 10. I'm not a big fan of laph10@ 43 neat but laphCS? That's always a good thing.
@petervall4626
@petervall4626 3 года назад
Laphroaig 10 here in B.C. is $70 plus 12% tax. The Cairdeas here are almost $210 after tax. So... is it worth that much more than the 10? The triple wood and QC are $95 after tax. Cairdeas worth more than double the triple wood?
@jackthepickledhound
@jackthepickledhound 3 года назад
@@petervall4626 that seems like a lot of money. In NY the 10 is under $50, the 10CS is$82 and I got this port wine for $95 plus tax. Ardbeg10 is still under $50, wee beastie is 44 but the coryvreken is closer to 99 and the ugedail is hard to find at the right price of $75. On price and taste, I'd go ugedail and A10. But the port wine is really good. Is it worth it? Is is better than JW double Black? Your could blend a Laph10 with Glenmorangie lasanta and get a similar dram. I've turned into a collector of these middle shelf whisky including American single malt. My favorite is sweet peat. It's kinda funny how Bart didn't get much nuance. I get get so much subtle development that I barely get peat except for the finish. And the empty glass, it's pure ashtray, not sweet at all.
