Started doing lapidary at 10 years old. Then the flute and sports came along. Now at 30 I'm getting back into it, this is a great refresher and things I never knew. Thank you.

You can tell they're not pro video markers but there's no need to be rude about it. This is a video of how to cut a gem not to braga about editing. People comments stuff like that and that opens the door for more bad comments. Awesome video guy. Thank you

I am finding your tutorials extremely helpful. Thank you for what you have done so far. I live in Mexico so I so appreciate the work you put into your tutorials. I look forward to the rest when you get a chance to make them.

Looking at it from above makes all the difference, could make a longer piece rounded horizontal thinner at the top then the bottom will show more stone regardless of orientation. Don't know anything about this, but perspective is sort of a thing, regardless of subject

Hi Jordan. No the Genie Trim Saw attachment works only on the Genie...an excellent small trim saw for a small area might be the Rock Rascal. Have fun with your search and all the best!

Helpful info if only the audio was not so diminished by the noise of the grinder.

This is due to point of view if both top and bottom are even thickness you see less as more faces forward and less faces up, so you see less when looking down

I just got my first lap machine for Christmas! It is an Inland Swap Top flat lap. I've played with it a little. I have some pretty dirty pieces of selenite I tried out. I also have some labrodorite. The piece I am working on is approx. 30mm x 20mm. I heard you say you are not using a dop stick because your piece is so large. Because I am a beginner, and I am using a flat lap, do you recommend that I dop my piece? Thanks

Hi Trissa! Excellent question. Yes. Because you are working on a flat lap you will need to dop your stones. I use a nail which I blunt the tips and use the head of the nail to affix to the stone with crazy glue. Then when the stone is done I soak the stone/nail in acetone until the glue is weakened enough to separate. This works for harder stones, I do not use the glue on soft stones that are prone to absorbing the acetone too much (acetone can dissolve them/etch them). Any fairly sturdy stone can handle the procedure though. Have Fun!

Can the genie trim saw attachment be used on the Pixie machine?

I have a question about the 30 degree angle that you mention when trimming the fat off the cab with your saw. Is the saw blade itself spinning at a 30 degree angle? Does the arbor pivot to accommodate that? for example, I have a Lortone Lu6X, but the blade only spins at a 90 degree angle. Or does the base plate pivot? What brand/style of blade are you using? Thanks for your help?

Got a question can I use a regular grinder for making cabs. I built a flat lap but I can only do so much with that.

What does it feel like to get cut by a lapidary saw if you have been cut by one?
@vapingreviewsbyken326

It's like getting burned except you bleed afterwards. Usually happens when you touch the side of the blade near the edge where the diamonds are. The saw looks a LOT scarier than it actually is the blades are basically harmless as long as you are careful.

These unnecessary comments are one reason why I wouldn’t do a video for ungrateful people who come here for the information, watch the whole thing probably and then have the audacity to make degrading comments to the host that you just learned from. Hope life is treating you right William. If not, maybe try treating people like people and it may work out for you.

It is hard to understand to the spoken word when the machines are on. :( Might be a good idea to either explain the stuff when the machines are off or add a text over video....
