I used to work at Trader Joe’s and we were definitely taught to make friendly conversation with the customers while ringing up their groceries. We were also encouraged to comment on the items they are buying. 😆 I really enjoyed my time working there. It was a fun environment.

Hey, I‘m German and our vanilla mostly is „Boubon Vanilla“. It“s just the type of vanilla. There‘s definitely no alcohol in it. You can use it just as any other kind of vanilla paste. It just has a slightly stronger flavor! Greetings from Germany ;)

As everyone said, it's just the type of vanilla. However, vanilla extract is full on booze. Homemade vanilla is vodka and vanilla beans. That's how it's extracted. It bakes off.

@@jeaniegallo4693 You can also make vanilla extract by soaking the beans in bourbon, or whiskey or rum, etc. I suspect, but don't know, that bourbon was used to extract the vanilla in that paste.

Just so you know, all vanilla extract and paste is made from either bourbon or vodka. It is used for cooking and baking in such small amou ts and the alcohol will bake or cook off. If you look at the packaging you will see the alcohol content listed. That is why some people buy imitation

I also accidentally bought the bourbon vanilla bean paste from TJ’s, and I love i! I cannot taste any bourbon flavor in my baked goods at all. I encourage you to try it before tossing it out…I really can’t tell the difference. 😊

I think the main difference between Aldi & TJ’s is cost. Aldi’s is a discount store. They are able to keep the items discounted is by removing the unnecessary frills (cart returns, baggers, music, decor) & keeping it simple. TJ’s goes hard the other way. 😂It’s less than Whole Paycheck but the prices are definitely nowhere near as affordable as Aldi.

There is a con to TJ's....I went to ALDI last Thursday and got a ton of food for me and some for my daughter & her family for around $250. Went to TJ'S yesterday and spent $90 for 2 bags of food. 2 bags!!!

That Vanilla Bean Paste doesn't actually have Bourbon (the alcohol) in it, the Bourbon Islands is where they grow the specific type of vanilla bean they use for it. It's on the Trader Joe's website if you were curious ☺

Whenever we make a crumble topping, I melt the butter because it makes it more like a paste. Then it bakes to a nice crispy delicious topping! No powdery areas that didn’t get incorporated with the butter

I was made to understand that a cobbler is meant to have a topping like biscuit / scone dough, so wetter than a crumble or crisp topping, some people roll it out and cut it into circles on top, like cobble stones, ( I don't know if that has anything to do with the name ) I just crumble it on top of mine with my hands. Delish, but yes, very sweet.

I also boil my corn on the cob as well but I also add sugar to the water to make sure it is sweet, maybe about a half cup but that is how I was taught. 😊

Kim it's not alcoholic Vanilla Paste. It's made out of Madagascar vanilla beans, they are also called Bourbon vanilla beans.

Hi!!! Great video... I'm glad to see you went to Aldi. I love Aldi for most things but there are a few items I like to get elsewhere... that applies to every store, though. Also, you probably already know this but Bourbon Vanilla doesn't have bourbon... it refers to the place the vanilla beans were grown. Many refer to it as Madagascar Vanilla and it's very good. Enjoy!

It sounds like yours turned out really well, but for a really easy peach cobbler, add a bit (maybe 2 tablespoons) of sugar and cornstarch to the peaches. Top with a white cake mix. Grate a stick of butter over the top (don't mix anything) and bake. It comes out perfect every time. Also, my favorite grilled veggies are a combo of tons of sliced onions, sliced peppers, and zucchini. Add pretty much equal parts of balsamic, apple cider vinegar, and oil. Add salt, pepper, fresh garlic, and oregano. Marinate for a little while and grill. I don't know why, but these are amazing!

In my peach cobbler I use peach juice from the can instead of water in the recipe. I also loosen it up a bit so the batter can pour over the peaches. Then I add melted butter to the top and sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon before baking. It is AMAZING! Who can go wrong with butter and sugar, though? Right?

Good morning Kim, those were great halls! Thanks for taking the time not only to do the shop w/me’s but then to put it all out and show everything, and then put it away is a lot of work!!!!!!! If you have a chance can you please mention that nail kit you got? I went back to try to find that video, but couldn’t find it in all my lady across the room videos! You have really been doing the most! I think you do more work at home than at the gym lately! All the cleaning and decluttering I know you speed up the videos so I also know decluttering takes a long time and is a lot of work then you have to deal with the aftermath of donating and sending to the trash and then my trash is so full I can’t get my regular trash in the can! You make it look so easy not to mention setting up the camera for all the angle’s. Thank for all you do because you always put happy in my day😊 God bless, Laura

You did the topping for the cobbler correctly; cobblers have more of a biscuit topping. Crumbles are the ones that have the more crumbly topping. Also, there’s alcohol in most vanilla so the bourbon really won’t make a difference.

Trader Joes is the best for frozen fruit and vegetables, dried fruit (sorbate free prunes 😂), selection of nuts. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The difference between Trader Joe’s in Florida and Connecticut is we cannot sell wine. Connecticut liquor laws are different. Also love Aldi (same family but different selling ways). I do both stores and have my favorites in each store.

Fresh pineapple is great marinated in teriyaki sauce and grilled. Even better, skewer pineapple with chunks of onion and green pepper. Same teriyaki sauce. Make separate skewers of teriyaki chicken. Serve with rice. Yum. Teriyaki sauce ingredients, your version of cocoa aminos plus garlic (crushed and powdered), ginger (fresh grated or squirted from tube and powdered and sliced pieces of crystalized ginger), optional squeeze of lemongrass from a tube, grated lemon rind, fresh lemon juice, toasted sesame oil and brown sugar to your taste.
