Large scale Enterprise 1701 build. Painting the Red details over months of work. It's a scary thing.

Welcome to part 9 of this epic build. Here i go with the Red paint. Undoubtably the most apprehensive time I've had during this whole build. Just making sure not to get it wrong is half the battle. Its almost ready to have the saucer mated to the body, and i cant wait for that to happen. Getting closer to the end with every little job now.
I hope you enjoy this video, thank you so much for checking it out.
Part 10 with the saucer coming soon.

Good day Andy, it is a wonderful gift to develop such skill that elicits joy in an audience as this work most certainly does. And... to keep on doing so- so consistently through so many wonderful projects. Your storehouse is satisfyingly full. Thank you for sharing as you do-

Thank you. It was a real trial of concept and hoping it came out with the correct look. No going back for a quick re-paint on this one.

I never knew about the Iridescent pastel hull panels and aztecing. On screen it looks like cool shades or grey with the occasional warmer part here an there. Absolutely insane attention to detail. Dare I say this is archival museum quality!!

Thanks. Yes the painting on the original model was unreal. Months and months of painting to get that pearl look. No wonder they didn't do it on the later series.

Well yup insane amount of detailing and masking and patience. It's really paying off though the extra mile you are going with this model.

Which kit is this or is it 3D printed? I have the designs for a 3D printed version which is around a meter long but I need to upgrade my printer.

HI there. This particular kit is a De-Boers. I think its 1/200 scale, but i could be wrong. Its a very tricky kit with a ton of mods and reinforcement. It is around 4 foot long maybe a tad more. Good luck with your model, have fun. :-)

Excellent work once again. I must admit the high gloss more 'in your face' pearls aren't my cup of tea but, of course, the client gets what the client wants...

HI there, thanks for the kind words on the build. I must admit that the pearls on this look much more intense in the videos than they do to the naked eye. I thought they would be too harsh, but now it is coming together they just become one overall texture, especially once it is all together as a complete ship. You are correct, the client wanted something to look like the original filming model before it was dulled down on set to reduce reflectivity for the blue/green screen. So i guess theres only a couple of people who ever saw it in its pristine shiny state. This is my best guess at what it may have looked like before that happened :-). Thanks for checking the videos out, and good luck with your Liberator build :-).
