We've had a great response to our last set of videos so far, so we're thrilled that some of you are finding them helpful! One of the first year dental students contacted us two days ago asking if we could help out with the larynx, so this is the fourth of five videos covering the laryngeal cartilages and membranes, the muscles and the vessels & nerves that supply it. Hope they help!If you'd like to contact us, email anatomyroom@gmail.com. More detailed blurb below!
Welcome to our series of videos on head & neck anatomy. We created these videos to help some of our current students with specific problems that they contacted us about, but that means that this is not a complete video course on the anatomy of the head & neck. That said, as we were recording them we realised that they may be useful to other people studying anatomy (or who are just interested!), so we decided to upload them to RU-vid in case you find them helpful. We really hope that you do, and if you would like us to cover any other areas please feel free to contact us at: anatomyroom@gmail.com.
Also, if you like the videos, we'd really appreciate it if you hit the "like" button so we know how we're doing!

Hi apatty94, thanks for your comments - glad you liked the singing. The muscle you are referring to on the model is Thyrohyoid. It is one of the strap like muscles of the neck extending from the oblique line of the laminar of the thyroid cartilage to the body of the hyoid bone. It's function is to depress the hyoid bone and thereby elevate the larynx. Thyrohyoid is supplied nerve fibres of C1 after they have hitch-hiked a lift from cranial nerve XII (Hypoglossal nerve). Happy revision! D

Hello, first of all, I love your videos, they're excelent! There is a muscle on the model you didn't say the name (probably because it is not an intrinsic muscle :P), the one that seems to be uniting the thyroid cartilage and the hyoid bone. what muscle is it? thank you :)

Hey guys. I have a huge problem with my larynx, I think. I'm sure I've got something stuck there for a long time now cos I can feel them when I swallow which has not been able to make me talk or produce sounds accurately. Wake up sometimes and spit up tiny lumps of calcified stuff so I'm positive there are residues left.Been to several doctors but they've not been able to get them out. I would ABSOLUTELY appreciate it if you guys can help me out. Have had this problem forever. A swift response will be genuinely appreciated.

Pretty sure those are tonsil stones. Just pieces of calcified compacted food and bacteria stuck in your the folds of your tonsils. Not an issue with your larynx
