I’ve had a cancerous lymph node in my neck. It was taken out by surgery together with the whole string of lymph nodes on that side of my neck. Needles to say it took some time to recover. But recover I did, even after refusal of Radiation Therapy. This was 16 years ago. I haven’t smoked since. No desire.

Thank you for saying this. I had my thyroid taken out for thyroid cancer and now I’m having surgery to take out the left side of lymph nodes because it spread. Hearing someone who recovered and doing well is good to hear ❤

I feel that this is the best way to understand and learn anatomy and physiology. This is how I learned it in college. The way you make your presentations with the models here is superb Dr. Sam. It is neat and precise. Books will show it one way, but with models it becomes " live " and much more interesting. Thank you for these great presentations.

thank you for this, Doc! I inherited lymphedema 18 years ago from my cancer "invading the lymphatic space" and my life was probably saved by my MSKCC surgeon who palpated a supra clavicular "node", causing me to respond "ouch!" your video and lecture demonstrated so much about the system that I now understand it much better ... as I do my manual lymph drainage LOL! keep that colored PlayDough coming! and thanks again! PS: my mom used to diagnose us as having "swollen glands", too!

I have noticed numerous swollen lymph nodes that have been in my neck and collarbone areas since the lock downs, I had bloods done which came back with some abnormalities but the doctor said that I wasn't to worry and sent me away. Since then I seem to have noticed more but I feel like I will be made to feel like I'm imaging it again. Watching your video it makes me worried as my swollen lymph nodes are in numerous areas of what you are showing and I'm not Ill. If from the UK and have found that the doctors are very quick at dismissing or just giving out meds like smarties. They also have a habit of asking what treatment we want from our visits, if we knew that we wouldn't go to a doctor in the 1st place. So seeing this video I will be getting seen again and I will definitely get a 2nd opinion if I feel I am being dismissed again. So thank you

Thank you for this explanation. I am recovering from viral meningitis and it’s taking some time for the swelling and pain to return to normal. This explains all of the areas that were affected. I guess the swollen lymph nodes explain why it was sometimes difficult to breathe. I was pretty scared at times. I’m still getting symptoms but having a gradual improvement.

Sam, you are _amazing!_ From the software engineering disciplines, we also have the concept of “naming conventions.” So this term is native to our way of describing things. Well, done. Thanks for all the great info. I had a ‘men’s physical’ a couple of months ago. Subsequently, my GP wanted me to come back to the office _’to go over the results.’_ I actually got three voicemails about this, so taken together, this was all starting to sound a bit ominous. I mean, on the one hand, she might just want to tell my cholesterol is out of the standardized range. Or she might see something more concerning and start ordering up more tests, blah, blah, blah. Been watching your videos to get up to speed A-S-A-P, so I won’t be like a dear caught in the headlights. haha. Thanks, Doctah.

I spend the last 8 years having Hipotyroïd and I am also allergic to evrything (spider bite, lavender, dust, perfume, makup, sunscreen, syntetic fabric, crab, peniciline...) this year have been toff. It started with the premenopause before 40 with no period but all the pms, my joint are inflame and got injured and the doctor said it is cosed by the lymphatic system already being irritated. I am bloted and they said I had air and blocage on my digestive system and need to drink more water but I already drink lots and eat fruits. I want to pee all the time. I feel a constant pressure on my neck that make me on the verge of puking and I barely support any clothing close to my neck. The thing is all my test been normal except the menopause one. I wish I had access to a familly doctor and not just seeing who ever is available at that moment. I am effraid that they never figure out what I have.

Any comments/help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone comes across this. What could be causing this-The left side of my neck swells up pretty bad at times. It travels all the way down past my collarbone. The tendons, (I'm assuming that's what they are) protrude out pretty far as well. Sometimes my neck doesn't swell as bad but, my jugular vein swells up and protrudes out pretty bad. I have pictures of different occasions of my neck swelling and people I've shown are shocked at how bad it is. I have scalp issues, infections that come and go from time to time. I've been to many doctors for it and never have I been diagnosed correctly. My tonsils were removed when I was 5 years old, I'm 47 now... I also had tubes put in my ears at 5yrs old, from chronic ear infections. I recently noticed my right ear canal is starting to become narrow as if it's closing shut. Compared to the left side. I also have chronic sinus issues. I used to have beautiful teeth but, now they are literally rotting away. The ones that had fillings are. It happened very quickly and I'm not able to get them fixed yet (financially unable). I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth come in until they rotted away, still rotting. Is this all connected? Is one causing the other or is there one main issue causing all the issues? It took me a while to put this all together. That it could be interconnected. Because it didn't happen overnight. But now it is full blown and my health is extremely bad at times. There have been times I've been so sick I was afraid I let it go to long and should have went to the hospital. Yes, if been to the hospital for many other health issues but not this one. My scalp issues I've been to a handful of doctors/ER with never a proper diagnosis. Thank you!!
@Tinyteacher1111
@Tinyteacher1111 Год назад
You poor thing! How awful! My guess is that there is a connection among all your issues. Perhaps an infection from the abscessed teeth? It could also be an autoimmune disease. Do you have breast implants, by any chance? These cause all kinds of disorders and infections. I had them, and never knew how toxic they were until 12.5 years later when a friend called my daughter to tell her he thought I had breast implant illness. I had every symptom x 10! I got Sjogren’s as one of the autoimmune diseases, had to have my severely infected tonsils removed at age 62 (the tonsils were tiny, but had deep pockets of bacteria down deep). That helped a lot, but Sjogren’s affects your teeth and I lost 3, which I can’t afford to replace with implants. Another few things that could be contributing to this, and I’m just throwing stuff out there… mold, Lyme or any other tick-borne infections, any latent infections you may be harboring that flare (streptococcus, pseudomonas, Epstein Barr, Guillain Barr), or any other environmental contaminants: heavy metals, mercury fillings, poor air quality, poor diet (I would go on a very clean autoimmune diet asap! No grains, no gluten, no dairy, no lectins, etc. ) Another possibility, that my son has, and a lot of people are getting it now from cell phones, is text neck. My son has severe forward head posture, because of a damaged cervical spine that won’t allow the brain to drain the waste properly. The drainage has to find a way down the neck, and if it’s clogged, the waste goes through the lymph glands, creating a sore throat, facial and teeth pain, and you name it. I’m telling you this info from experience that I or my son have had in the past 15 years. It’s horrendous, and I had to leave my teaching career, have several surgeries, then get well enough to have my implants removed. I contracted pseudomonas aeriginosa from that surgery, and had all kinds of cognitive issues before they were removed. I wish you the best, and it’s sad that we need to go broke because of these problems! I’m facing having to sell my house because my son moved in with me to get away from mold, and my taxes went up $300 per month, all of a sudden. Large appliances have been breaking, and I can’t get any help here. My son is so sick from everything he has, and I had to leave my teaching career, so now I’m his caregiver. I try to do things by myself, and 5 weeks ago, I fell off a ladder trying to fix a gutter and broke my arm. Now I can’t drive, and we are stuck here until my ex husband comes to see my son and fixes food when I can’t. He’s out iff remediating his house for over 2 years because he’s overwhelmed! I’m furious, and none of my beaus will come here because he’s here. How dysfunctional on top of the health problems! You’re in my prayers! 🙏💫

The lady above in comments gave you some good info. Yes! Dental tooth decay can cause numerous health problems. When teeth are decaying they put out bacteria that drains into the body and can cause all manners of problems from heart palpitations to leaky gut. Try to get decayed teeth extracted if you can . Don’t get implants they just add to the peoble

Hi, Kris. Yes, everything in the body is inter-connecting in some capacity. I understand that any swelling or inflammation in the body can be a cause of pain, warning that something is amiss. For some ear problems I will open up an odorfree garlic capsule (Wal Mart brand) and pour the oil allowing it to run in deeply, plugging with a cotton ball. Garlic is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, etc. so it helps my ear somewhat. Also for your chronic sinus issues, garlic can do amazing things. Do your research. A drop of Oil of oregano (bottle/$20-30 at a health store) on a q-tip can take away pain from a tooth almost instantly because it reduces the inflammation and kills bacteria, I think. I recently read an article from a doctor of Borax and its many benefits, a paste on the scalp can help scalp problems, ringworm, foot fungas, and many other things. I hope this helps you some, friend. God bless.

Tonsils are very very important, they filter the blood that goes into the brain. Please look into helping your infection by oil pulling. Use good quality olive oil or coconut oil and follow the directions on oil pulling, first thing in the morning with an empty stomach. Do it a few times. It will help your teeth, infections, and your liver. Research several articles on oil pulling.

I’m curious if these lymph nodes can swell up when agitated by poor posture. If the body is put into a certain position long enough, then over time it will adapt to that position. Some muscles get short and tight and others get stretched out and weak. I’m curious if the short and tight muscles can push against the nodes and block their flow function, causing abnormal swelling. These areas have been giving me issues for over almost two years now and doctors don’t seem to know what to think. I was told to exercises for TMJ and given muscle relaxers… I’ve solved most of the issues by fixing my posture with corrective targeting exercises like wall angels, and stretching. It used to be hard for me to talk and now I’m much better, and don’t feel like someone’s yanking what I thought was my tonsil. I guess it was actually a lymph node. I just didn’t know there could be one there. Right in the corner of my jaw, underneath it. I can feel it now just talking about it lol

I think it's the one that is connected to my tonsils on the left side that is hard as a rock. I swear it started after using nicotine pouches like Ons and Zyn.

Dear Sam, After 2 weeks of suspected tendinitis of right arm and tak8ng Etopan twice daily, I may have slept on something on the sofa as I woke up with major pain in back of neck and felt neck swell and pain. A relief GP dismissed my findings and said Go to Orthopedic. the following morning I got to see him and he immidiately saw the node swell on my neck and gave me a referral to ER. I was quite worried. Had blood work and Doctor said it looks fine but to ask to have an ultra sound. The nodes I feel as described in video behind ear and lower then neck seem active, irritated, abit heat and slight swelling. Is this serious? Or does it pass? Is ultra sound most effective in diagnosing if serious.? P.S The way you show and teach is so inspiring to me as a teacher.

I feel like almost all my throat and chin lymph nodes are swollen 😰 I guess my TSH was a little high so they need to do more testing. I also can hear A LOT of popping noises in the base of my “skull to spine” area when using a neck roll. And I’m also noticing if I have a really long exhausting day, when I lay down I all the sudden have A TON of saliva being produced and I have to constantly swallow. Kinda makes sense now that I see some of the lymph nodes are literally right by the salivary glands. I have a tooth that fell out this past year that’s basically been rotting for years cuz I’ve had no health insurance and I wonder if I have some sort of infection from that maybe?? I dunno. I’m messed up man I need to get my blood work checked up 🫣
