@@scotttild We won't run out of Fruit. There are plenty of other areas capable of growing fruit during the colder seasons the issue is cost. As the yield from CA slows due to water shortages their prices will increase making other areas more competitive so they will expand their operations. Worst case scenario we end up slightly expanding the percentage of Fruit which is imported. The real issue is California refusing to adopt water savings measures and switching to low water fruits Stealing other states water was always going to be a zero sum game being pigheaded and expecting them to not develop is just stupid.
Sports leagues: *lets have a team in the biggest gambling city in America* Also sports leagues: “YOULL BE SUSPENDED FOR ATLEAST AN ENTIRE SEASON IF YOU BET ON A GAME”
As an A’s fan I’m ok with them staying in Sacramento. I take the same driving distance from where I live to Oakland and Sacramento, I’m right in the middle. Just keep my A’s in Northern California
What a job vegas has done becoming a sports mecca it just goes to show when you have people with great vision and leadership what you can accomplish great for you las Vegas
We do have different suburbs and new ones coming up South and East of the main city. South of the hills where the current city ends they are building new homes and businesses. Plus Boulder City is pretty close too. Clark County is probably growing faster than any other area on the west coast.
T-Mobile is not ideal for NBA games the sight lines change with an NBA makeup. Also a new team does not want to be a renter they want to own the building to make money from other events.
T-Mobile Arena already has enough dates booked to where they are at capacity for events. Plus, I have been in that arena for hockey and basketball. The hockey setup is much better than the basketball one. Too many extra endzone seats.
you will have to pay rent to the Golden Knights ownership group but if you have your own Arena no paying rent . That is why the 76ers want to leave the Wells Fargo Center and have their own Arena in Philadelphia some where
Interesting theory I heard from someone from Nevada that the Raiders struggle to win compared to the Knights because NFL players party and club much more often than NHL players do. NBA players are by far the most famous for their party/clubbing lifestyle so ... If the theory is true, wouldn't an Vegas NBA team struggle too?
its also said that the MLS wants to be in Vegas as well. With that intense summer heat, any MLS team would probably play in Allegiant Stadium. If SEA, CHA, CHI, ATL, and NE can play in NFL venues, so can Vegas. Any outdoor stadium wont work when it gets to 110 degrees plus in July
The Investment firm Oak View Group is going to going to spend 10 Billion to built on 66 acres at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road, about four miles south of the A's ballpark. The NBA project that was denied was the All Net Resort & Arena was proposed for 27 acres (11 ha) on the north Las Vegas Strip, located between the Sahara resort to the north and the Fontainebleau resort to the south. The property had previously been the site of the Wet 'n Wild water park, which closed in 2004 for redevelopment.
Why do they need an NBA arena? Can the city support two arenas with the Thomas & Mac center and the MGM arena. It’s lunacy to invest billions for an arena that will only have 41 dates. More money than cents.
Neither would be practical for an NBA team full time. First they would just be renters so they could not generate other income, second both are very small and very dated, T&M would not be able to accommodate an NBA for any length of time. MGM Grand could on a temp basis. T Mobile would be more likely but again the NBA team would only be renters.
Moving forward- the Athletics playing in Sacramento longterm would represent the absolute best case scenario for Athletics fans in the Bay Area. I would even consider expanding Sutter Health Park akin to how Fenway Park and Wrigley Field were radically upgraded 100 years ago- from back then what would be considered minor league ballparks by todays standards.
The reasons VGK have worked so well is it was expansion team that was promoted early, with broad community outreach, privately funded, and they started winning right away. They also continue to do whatever it takes to continue winning. The A’s are already missing all of that. Even in OAK, Fisher has never been about community outreach or doing whatever it takes to win. That won’t work if he wants to be successful in a different market that’s already wary of his practices. He’d have suddenly buck 20 years of habits in the way he runs the A’s and MLS Earthquakes. It’s not very likely. He saw the $380M payday, and that was all he wanted.
One day vgk will rebuilding, that's the test. Locals willing to pay $200 plus for a losing team? Fan base was restless during the regular season . Fans bailed on unlv after the heyday
It’s Southern California taking up most of the water from lake mead. Clark county only took up 2.2% of their water consumption out of 4% last year. Most water efficient city in the world. Hell a farmer in California uses more water than the whole city
Way to go Las Vegas. You guys needed this. It's pretty cool That you guys are getting A NBA and a MLB team I just hope LeBron James. Doesn't own the team He needs to focus on finishing his basketball career And go retire
I know it's a different situation...but if MLB is so hot to get to Vegas to cash in on betting and gambling...then they need to reinstate Pete Rose and get him in the Hall.
It is a different situation. Pete Rose bet on baseball and Reds games while he was the manager, the biggest no-no in baseball forever. Rose agreed to be banned for life.
Because the owner of T Mobil has said no long term and T Mobil is not ideal for NBA games when they change the set up. It was designed strictly for NHL.
Vegas needs to figure out their water situation before lake mead or lake Powell dries up from overuse. We’re adding so many residents to the cities that are users of water reserves and we’re getting less and less water in the desert. Something’s gotta change before something goes wrong.
Vegas has the most efficient water savings in the country and is nowhere near using it's water allocation. Scabs in Cali need to stop stealing water is all that needs to happen.
If only California stops getting their water from us. LV only took about 2.2% of water from lake mead out of 4%. I believe a farmer in Cali uses more water than the whole damn city
If Lake Meade doesn't dry up. They actually can realistically only fit another million in that metro. Anything beyond that would require getting their water source from Lake Tahoe because Lake Meade and the Colorado River aren't enough. The Water rich UD states have already signed agreements to protect their water from the Desert Dweebs thirst
That's a pretty small market. Buffalo bills have 1.1 million (2.2 million of you add Rochester and Niagara which are near by) and it's still considered a small market. There are no other cities near Las Vegas, it a very small market especially when they start negotiating TV deals. I know LA does want Vegas in there TV market and the sun's don't want Vegas either
In addition to the NBA & MLB, MLS is also heavily rumored to be coming to Vegas in the next few years. However any future MLS Vegas team will likely be sharing Allegiant Stadium with the Raiders. This is because building a new soccer specific stadium like what the majority of MLS has is not a good idea in Vegas given the climate especially during the summer. Allegiant Stadium has already proven that it can host soccer as it has hosted multiple summer preseason games involving European clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona & Man United & a US-Mexico Gold Cup final in its short history.
I don’t see the point of the A’s playing in a Minor League stadium in Sacramento for 3 years when they can just play at a Minor League stadium in Las Vegas for those same 3 years to get a feel for the fanbase… Am I missing something here??
American sports baffles me. Is getting millions of being hooked on gambling worth the extra money? Is the inevitable massive betting scandal worth the extra money? Is ruining the development of college players worth getting betting sponsors involved in collapsing sports?
Vegas is strictly a tourist city out in the middle of a desert. When people are going through tough times, one of the first things they do is cut back on their tourism dollars. With Vegas soon having four major sports franchises, what are they going to do if the tourism dollar dries up some? Can the population of Vegas alone support four franchises? Right now, they are the 29th largest metro area in the country. There are many metro areas ahead of them that have only one franchise, maybe two.
No they make a majority of their income off of hospitality but Las Vegas and the burbs like Summerlin and Henderson are the fastest growing in the U.S still. There will be support.
Vegas definitely does has suburbs. Henderson, Summerlin, hell you can throw in Boulder City. Locals here will support a team if it’s an expansion team. Why the VGK have “Vegas Born” slogan. Only issue is, if you put the arena on the strip, locals are least likely to go because majority hating going to the strip
I think it’s either the NBA or MLB going to Vegas for the long term. Not both. The economy is due of a significant down turn, and Vegas will be one of the most impacted cities in the country, as it really relies on tourism and home building. Property values in Vegas are slowing significantly. That’s a bad sign.
The A's will be welcomed in LV. Expansion not happening. VEGASBORN overblown. First VGK game days after 1 Oct tragedy. Much gloom in the city and new team gave people something to feel good about in dark times. VGK first game shared grief with city, and established strong bond. See video by a Knight at the time, Deryk Engelland who gave a powerful speech. Had the team relocated under the same circumstances and reacted the same, bond would be equally strong. BTW - Bill Foley VGK owner expects the A's to be a success.
The self-driving taxis & shuttles by 2028 is BS. That technology is 20+ years off from real world use on streets, and that's assuming nobody is injured or killed. Every lawyer in Vegas is waiting on an eventual ill-fated rollout.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think Vegas needs more teams, Vegas is a tourist city not as much a big population city. It does have people but its mainly tourists. I don’t know that having all of the big 3-4 sports will end good for them in the long run.
Completely disagree we do have locals and people who move here and when the main industry is tourism you tend to like people coming in to spend their money here.
That ship has sailed. Gambling revenue is well under 50% now, most tourism is about other experiences, shows and nightclubs, things like that. They want the sports teams because it raises the profile of the city, and they want sports fans to come to Vegas to see their teams play and plan a vacation around that trip. That is the future.
As the Sphere plays a NWO movie talking about how we need to reduce our carbon. Let's spend another few billion on more mega projects, but you can't water your front lawn or have a gas stove.
I'm from Vegas and everything is going up in cost, more of this garbage, we don't need an NBA team for what, for the Tourist, I hopes they fail with it, I have nothing for it, tickets are not affordable, but hey Clark County cares about the money, Streets are not done, Traffic is going up, people that not from here don't get this.
I dont think it will do good in Vegas be like Florida tourists and implants from other states. Hockey works basketball probably work not sure on baseball. Football do ok but Raiders need to put half way decent team on field
Ice Hockey Basketball American Football play their season during Winter where tourist season is high. Baseball plays in summer and has 81 home games in stadiums much bigger than hockey and basketball
Las Vegas is overrated as a sports city. For one point if the A's Vegas stadium falls through. The team will not stay in Sacramento. The A's would be moved back to Oakland with new ownership. I could see the Raiders moving to Los Angeles again. Las Vegas will only have NHL and NBA teams.
They seem to be preparing that area west of MGM Grand for development. Lots of road work being done on Koval Ln and Harmon Ave. They need to tear down all those horrible ghetto motels on the west side of Koval before that goes forward. It's disgusting to see them so close to billion dollar hotels and casinos.
@Tank4Life then explain why cities like san antonio and Columbus for example have higher population but don't have one. Also the a's will move to Sacramento not vegas they will play at minor league stadium. The new orleans pelicans will move to Las Vegas instead. Also their are plans to rebuild to rca dome the Pontiac Silverdale and the Hubert h Humphrey metrodome. And the city of Atlanta wants to rebuild Georgia dome. Miami marlins only have bad attendance because its begging of season. So when the Jacksonville jaguars get new stadium they will be better. With drew bledsoe I mean Trevor Lawrence as their qb. So your st Louis cardinals suck. And will move to Boise Idaho. Steve. Young just got an hall of fame game. And portland trail blazers will get number 1 pick. The draft lottery is rigged and here are 5 reasons why first if you watch a video you can clearly see a Greenacres and sgi in the background second reason is nva is likes teams like the new york Knicks and la lakers which is why they will always give number 1 pick to them. So in conclusion the nba mlb premier league nfl and nhl all are rigged for the good teams to win.
@@widk2Columbus and San Antonio are terrible examples. Columbus, already in Ohio with sports cities like Cleveland and Cincinnati. San Antonio is has to battle with Houston and Dallas. SA isn’t even the biggest in their state
Depressed Ginger doesn’t know what he’s talking about with baseball in Vegas, plain and simple. Yes he’s absolutely correct in the sense that MLB does want the Vegas market, but he’s absolutely wrong in the sense of baseball coming here to Vegas no matter what happens with John Fisher A’s. I’ve put this on social media so many times before, I’ll do it again, to make it clearer. Vegas won’t get expansion here under certain circumstances. If Schools over Stadiums were to win in court and were allowed to collect signatures to stop the A’s. Basically it would be the fault of Nevada Residents as to why there wouldn’t be baseball in Nevada. It is to my understanding, that if Las Vegas were the cause of the A’s not coming to Vegas, that’s not good for us, there won’t be no A’s and we won’t have expansion. Depressed keeps telling viewers what they want to hear, but it’s not entirely true. Now to make myself clearer, Vegas would be fine for expansion under certain circumstances in the future. Let’s say Fisher were to just flat out change his mind on Vegas or let’s say he wins in court over Schools, but later dropped out due to lack of financing, those reasons would be deemed as outside of Las Vegas control, thus I’m pretty sure there would be no repercussions against us in Vegas, under those scenarios. Again, if the A’s were stopped in Vegas because of Nevada voters, I’m 99% certain Vegas won’t get an expansion here cause of that. As a Vegas resident myself, the best advice I can give to other Vegas residents who want MLB here in some immediate capacity. Sit back, don’t stand in the A’s way, let Fisher come to Vegas, be supportive, play the waiting game. Why do this? Plain and simple, I just believe that Fisher will own the team long anyways, once they are here. Now I do believe, he could own as long as 10 years, maybe? I know that seems like a lifetime to the those that are impatient in general, but it isn’t. Other reasons why I feel Vegas should play the wait game patiently, John Fisher is old anyways, and he’s going to be really older after 10 years in Vegas. I just don’t think it’s realistic to expect a near 80 year old Fisher to stay owner long term, that’s exactly what he’ll be around the year 2040. Las Vegas has quite a bit of wealthy people living in the Summerlin and Anthem hills. Perhaps if we in Vegas were to play supportive , of the A’s and allowed them to see what we are capable of. Who knows? Perhaps that will encourage one of them to open their checkbook (old term) and give Vegas a brighter future. There’s a chance that the A’s new owner, he or she could be good to Vegas.
The crime in Oakland has gotten so bad that they had to close the DENNY'S, let that sink in. Oakland these days is like Gotham City, that's why I'm all for the A's getting out of that dumpster fire of a city.
What are you talking about they are building it around Blue Diamond where the bright line rail station is getting built. I drive past this every day going to work!
@@doom4136 Its not an NBA area although they could change plans and make it one. It is entertainment. They don't even have a confirmed NBA team yet. The proposed site for the NBA team is the parcel by the Trump tower.
Only a fool believes Vegas can support an added MLB and NBA team. Vegas will soon be a Florida situation where there's too many other things to do than watch a baseball game, and too many residents from somewhere else continuing to support their home of origin teams. Vegas Golden Knights is Vegas true home team.
