Vegas wants their *own* team, they don't want some guy from out of town trying to move in and milk them for everything they've got. The absolute best case scenario is Fisher sells the A's, the A's stay in Oakland, and Vegas gets their own expansion team.

@@MountainFisher she's been there for 60 years and is a sitting mayor, you think she'd try to torpedo her city getting an MLB team because they didn't choose a piece of city owned land? I moved to Oakland last year from Montreal. The enthusiasm for baseball in both Montreal and Oakland is something to behold. There are multiple active groups in Montreal working to bring the Expos back, including the Warren Cromartie led Montreal Baseball Project. There's an Exposfest every year that brings numerous Expos back to the city. When the Blue Jays played (before the pandemic) their last two games of Spring Training at hideous Olympic Stadium, 50,000 people packed the place to send a message to MLB. The lack of any enthusiasm for baseball in Las Vegas is quite something to behold.

Montreal could have had the Rays if their government was willing to invest in a new stadium. They're not. Every city, including Orlando, Florida has groups that want to bring MLB to their city, unfortunately, those groups don't have the money, influence, or connections to get anything done. After MLB expands by two, they're going to be done unless a team like the Brewers or White Sox decide to relocate and a city like Montreal finally agrees to build a new ballpark.

@@trclark7689I think the Brewers just finished a tentative deal with the State of Wisconsin to renovate their Milwaukee ballpark. So the Brewers at least for a long while are **off the possible relocation list.** And with the Rays also staying in the St Pete/Tampa area as well with a new ballpark that is about to be done, only the White Sox is a possibility of moving in the near future. And even the City of Chicago trying to avoid losing the White Sox just in the last couple of weeks early here in 2024, made a serious proposal to build a new ballpark near downtown Chicago. Even the Orioles will be staying in Baltimore with renovations to Camden Yards and a new Ownership group with Cal Ripken being the “Front Man.” So basically very soon none of the current 30 MLB teams will likely be available for a move for a long while.

@@americangiant1003 I hadn't heard the news about the Brewers. The White Sox plan isn't being pushed by anyone at this point and the news about their proposed new stadium inside the Loop just broke a couple days ago. There's a lot of push in Chicago to keep them on the South Side, I wonder if that push will eventually make them leave? The Rays deal will get done. The Orioles deal was done months ago. I wouldn't say that there won't be any teams threatening relocation anytime soon. Aside from the historic stadiums (Fenway, Wrigley, Dodger) and the teams already mentioned (A's, Rays, Brewers, White Sox, Orioles) you have 7 clubs (Angels, Royals, Blue Jays, Guardians, Rockies, D-Backs, and Mariners) that play in stadiums built before the millennium. You have another 7, not counting the Brewers (Tigers, Astros, Giants, Pirates, Reds, Phillies, and Padres) who are either past the 20 year mark or are approaching it this year. Not saying that these teams are going to start complaining about wanting a new stadium, but that 20 year mark seems to be the start.

One of the biggest wedges between the City government and all of the other local jurisdictions, including Unincorporated Clark County, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City, is some of the slimeball moves she has pulled to establish special tax districts through State action, which diverted tax revenue away from those other jurisdictions. @BoulderCityBlues

You go on any sports site that has a comment section and you will see 90% of the people saying they don’t want the A’s in Las Vegas . This is an embarrassment to MLB ,Manfred, the politicians who took money from the A’s , Governor Lombardo . I’ve said it from the start ,Las Vegas wants a Vegas born team preferably in the NL to rival our neighbors the Dodgers and Diamondbacks that many Las Vegas people are fans of ..The A’s can build the same stadium in Oakland without the roof and do it without using public money , same is true in Salt Lake City or Sacramento ..End this charade once and for all .
@maxpowr90
@maxpowr90 4 месяца назад
I feel the main reason Vegas got the Raiders is the area wanted a stadium to be able to host huge events (besides the NFL). A taxpayer-funded baseball stadium doesn't really bring anything to the table besides baseball in spite of what Fisher tells everyone.
@BoulderCityBlues
@BoulderCityBlues 4 месяца назад
@@maxpowr90 Davis wanted the Raiders in LA to share So-Fi stadium with the Rams . The Chargers who were relocating had first choice at So-Fi and so the Raiders came to Las Vegas because they were stupid enough to give Davis everything he wanted and passed the costs on to the tourists in the way of resort fees at the hotels ..The Raiders have a huge fan base in LA bigger than the Rams and Las Vegas seemed perfect for the move to attract LA fans who had a reason to go to Las Vegas on a weekend ..Fisher saw how Davis conned Las Vegas and thinks he can do the same and has paid off politicians to pass SB1 . The difference here is the A’s have no fan base in Las Vegas or LA as they barely show up in Oakland after Fisher destroyed the team ..Commissioner Manfred wants a team in Las Vegas and told Nevada legislator it’s either you take the A’s or nothing ..This team is being forced on Las Vegas who doesn’t want them and especially doesn’t want to pay to bring them . Fisher should be forced to sell the team to buyers in the Bay Area that will keep the team in that area .Las Vegas should be offered an expansion team that locals would get behind especially if it’s an NL team to set up games between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks as rivals .This entire deal is bad for Las Vegas , the A’s and the fans of the A’s ..

Most usually a mayor is in lockstep with a major sports team wanting to move to their city but this just reiterates that something just isn't right here. MLB ought to re-think all of this. Perhaps, it's time for the team to leave Oakland but certainly Vegas isn't the right destination. With that said, I'd give the forces in Oakland one more shot at a new stadium and if it doesn't work out then perhaps flip to Portland.

Like leave with this thought I was the origin of the A's Franchise just canceling 3 years. How do I know I Wrote it on either Brodie or Casey or Foul Territory lol weeks ago as speculation if they can't find a home. Now everyone saying fake news as if there are contingency plans that this might actually happen. Also I said I don't see the A's playing in Salt Lake City, Sacramento. I believe they will play in Summerlin. The reason I gave is that NHL cancelled seasons and Covid excuse to cancel sports and they would have to rework contracts get unions to ok thid. The A's would lease Zak Gelof, Lawrence Butler, Mason Miiler, Tyler Soderstrom, Max Muncy to the Korean & Japanese league. They would trade JP Spears, Shea L, Brent Rooker and others who already have major league service and don't like the idea of playing over seas & Until the stadium is built It's fake news.

Difference is the Raiders have a huge fan base that comes from LA . The Raiders only play 9 games at home on Sundays . The A’s have no fan base in Las Vegas or LA and play 81 games at home most during the week ..Las Vegas baseball fans are Dodger fans in the NL so they may play them 3 home games every 3 years ..There is no draw to see the A’s .. The new stadium will lose its luster after year 3 like everything else new in Las Vegas ..

I have a lot of thoughts about this except from interview. Just a few of them: -Carolyn Goodman is the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas. The Tropicana site is in unincorporated Clark County. It makes sense for Goodman to be pushing for a ballpark in the Las Vegas city boundaries because that would benefit her constituency. -T-Mobile Arena is literally one block away from the Tropicana site. I don't hear people complaining about traffic generated by the Vegas Golden Knights or other events at T-Mobile Arena. Traffic generated for a new ballpark at the Tropicana site wouldn't be that much more than traffic at T-Mobile, so it's disingenuous to complain about one without complaining about the other. Also, the Tropicana's site at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd & Tropicana allows easier access to the site from the west, south, and east than gaining access to T-Mobile Arena. The entire concept is moot, anyway, considering that most people will not be parking directly at Tropicana for A's games. Just as with VGK games, people will park at many different casino resorts throughout the Strip and walk/tram their way to the ballpark. -Carolyn Goodman doesn't seem to understand the economics of getting both tourists and locals to attend games. The site that she was talking about would make it incredibly difficult for tourists to attend games. -There is a logical reason why many new ballparks are being built in downtown areas of cities. Las Vegas is unique in that the official downtown area doesn't provide near the concentration of people and wallets that the Strip does. In Las Vegas, the Strip functions as a downtown on steroids. -Carolyn Goodman has the right to have her own opinion, but the ownership of the A's sure are behaving as if they have every intention of building their ballpark at the Tropicana site. From securing funding from SB1 that is tied to the Tropicana site to working with Bally's to incorporate the ballpark with their designs for a new casino resort, their actions are speaking louder than words. And considering the combative posturing from Oakland officials over the past seven months, if the A's in Vegas fell through, I would believe it is more likely the A's would look at a location other than Oakland. -There is absolutely no guarantee that Las Vegas would get an expansion team in the event the A's plans in Las Vegas fell through.

@spanossucks3167
@spanossucks3167 4 месяца назад
@VoteAdnanShahab I'm not trying to accuse you of anything. Your points are valid and while good i think the approach is similar to Dean Spanos and asking for public money to get a stadium done in sd which he couldn't and that's why the Chargers are a 3rd rate team in the 2nd largest market in the us. The first location the A's has read perfect because the location was perfect and it provided an easy accessibility for visitors to go to the game. I just believe John should have handled it a bit differently and paid it himself. Not ask for a handout because it just means he's cash poor just like Spanos is. The A's are following in the Chargers 👣 and while I'm not saying your getting compensated you have good and validated opinions just pro Vegas opinions but you have every right to have your own opinion.
