@@lasersandsaws Did you brush on the paint or did you spray paint & then smooth with a foam brush ? Also,, where did you get the design ? Did it have G-code built-in or did you just download a graphic from the net & take a trace of this image ?

@@tommyfgilmore first thing I did was seal the mdf with some sanding sealer. Then one coat of white spray paint. Then I did 2 coats of orange spray paint over that. Then 2 coats of black spray paint. No brushes or anything else. Just regular old spray paint. It's all in one pass. I really just estimated the power levels and got lucky. The original picture was a free wallpaper photo I downloaded from the web. I messed with the image in photoshop a little to try and make it more engraveable. Then I inverted it and opened it in lightburn and did the rest their.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. The idea was to burn through specific layers and reveal the color wanted but it is very hard to dial in the settings just right.

It was done in one pass. But layers might actually work better. It's just the amount of time needed would be pretty long.

I just realized how thin the board is. Is it mdf or basswood? Still so cool

@@susantipsyhealy7655 It was 1/4 inch MDF from HD.

Ortur lm3 10 watter. The setting I used which were not the best. Speed - 7000 mm/m. Power 15%. and I used Dither. But those setting are not the best. It needed a little more power I think.

@@lasersandsaws I don't know man, It look pretty good from the TV! Don't mess up a good thing! I have yet to start painting.

@@lasersandsaws this is a dumb question and I say you probably don't but do you use air for that stuff?

@@rightpassage The only time I ever use air assist is when I'm cutting something. When engraving the air tends to blow the soot onto the work and makes cleaning a lot harder.

@@lasersandsaws just wondering for your pictures. I always use it course I've done nothing but wood lately and it seems to make it cleaner for me. DPI seems to be an issue I'm having. I usually do 302.38. I'm trying 285 right now on a test. Most my designs are about five by five. Just trying to find that good point?
