Pocket Hercules has separated himself by so much that he belongs on Mount Rushmore alone. He was winning by larger margins in a much smaller weight class in a much more competitive era. Lasha is a great though, finally caught up to the weightlifting records from the Bulgarian era, which most weight classes are still far behind on.
@@TheFredrock12 they specialize in different things. Ask lasha to compete in strongmen he would come dead last. In terms of pure strength top strongman are above lasha no question they train more for overall strength and more robust. You probably just aren’t familiar with the sport

Huge congratz to big lasha. 225kg and 267kg. For 492kg. Awesome. The hush before he cleaned the 267kg was intense. Do not no why the judges got involved. Lasha i think can do 230 to 232kg snatch, he is so strong and very reliable. For that golden 500kg im thinking at least 230kg snatch, i think he has to give himself as much leeway as possible going into the clean and jerk. I mean coming out to have to clean and jerk say 270kg or 272kg to hit 500kg total im not sure. A 232kg snatch and a 268kg gets him the lot, a WR in snatch that nobody will touch for decades, and a clean and jerk WR nobody will touch in decades, and a total that will stand for decades in 500kg. Be incredible if the big man can do it. But as for now huge congratz to lasha on a 225kg snatch that will stand until lasha beats it, if not it will stand for decades, and if lasha does not improve on a 267kg clean and jerk it will stand for decades, and his 492kg total will stand for decades. Lasha is a massive draw in mens 109kg+ catagory. It is a pleasure to see him lift and stick these huge lifts with hardly any time in between to rest. Bless the big man and i hope he stays healthy going into the OLYMPICS.
Great stuff, congratulations. Bettering Taranenko's record after 33 years is an achievement of its own. Wonder if he will ever get that 500 though. He still needs to get 8 kg which does not look much but in this range its a ton. Still if someone has a chance to do it then its him
What did the judges see that they thaught the lift wasn't good? The only thing I see is that his right elbow just gives a little bit in but nowhere near a pressout. It was a hard lift for him. Standing up from the split wasn't an easy feat and it almost looked like he wouldn't be able to stand upright, because he had to extend both knees while his hip was already fully extended.
@@DennisDuda it's a weight most lifters never will deadlift. He's throwing it over head, I think anyones elbows would wobble under that weight. Anyways it was a good lift, no press out and I've seen much "uglier" lifts been white lighted. Lasha is just incredible
@@paradoxxgaming No pressout indeed. But, the jerk was on the border of rebended elbows which always makes room for discussion. Obviously it's extremely heavy and Lasha is very talented.
@@jonmolina948 It is just amazing the strain on the human body that amount of weight causes. Pushing that with his arms which are in no way made to handle that kind of force bearing down on them. I remember when the Beast Eddie did a static lift of 525 lbs just a few inches, a straight one-armed press, and the amount of damage that did to him you could tell was serious just for those few seconds. Now imagine doing that weight, plus another 40lbs, and yea with two arms, but a bloody clean and jerk, right from the floor to over your head, over and over and over again in the competition format these lifts happen. When you don't get to wait until you are perfectly recovered, or your blood pressure is no longer skyrocketing etc. You have to go as soon as you are called. Clearly not ideal conditions. The damage it must do to ligaments, cartilage, etc. I can only imagine that when these guys are in their 50's most of the cartilage between bones by then is completely compacted flat... perhaps I am wrong and they know how to preserve it still under these insane conditions, but I just don't see how... because the human body was simple not designed through evolution to handle these kinds of insane stresses, let alone again and again and again. Weight lifting, compared to almost any other sport I think this has to be the hardest on the body long term, and even short term as well...
From an American, Lasha is the GOAT. Congrats to Georgia for this magnificent athlete. 500 kg is getting closer and closer. If anyone can do it Lasha can. I hope he stays injury free.
