Good job! I had my LASIK procedure done fifteen years ago and am still happy with the results and still walking around and reading without glasses- one of the best investments I ever made. I can only imagine that the procedure is even more refined now.

Great question. Unfortunately, it can be a big range of prices for the same surgery. And the quality of the center and the surgeon will dictate the cost.
I had lazik 15 years ago. Last month I finally went to check my eye and found out i had a detached retna and liquid reaching the center of my eye from what they told me would lead to loosing my vision. I had the retna detachement buckle surgery done and now my vision went from a 2020 Lazik vision to a very bad blurry eye sight. Hopefully "it will get better 3 to 6 months". But I don't know 😭.....I asked if I can get lazik again to fix it and the eye Dr's and surgeons strongly advised not to get it a second time.😭😭😭😭😭😔😔😔😔. Life sucks
Thank you I noticed that you guys never mentioned anything about debris getting into the Eye during surgery etc risks Also if the surgery is done in a clean room or a sterile room risks of redoing it etc
Great video! I was at a -5 last two years and this year my doctor told me i've had improvements to a -4.75. So do you recommend lasik? I'm 18years old by the way
Had my laser surgery 10 years ago but the effects have worn off once I hit 50. Eyes not as bad as they were but I need glasses now. Having Lens replacement next month which will hopefully be permanent
The tough part about all this is that the eyes will do what they want to do. There is no guarantee that the eyes won't change again. The implant will never change, but the eye have aond of their own.
Hello, First of all great video covering a lot about the procedure! One question in mind, is there a way to prevent having dry eyes or nerve damage from the flap creation in lasik surgery? Usually most of the preparation prior to the surgery is what can help with healing and speed if recovery. I recommend using artificial tears 3-4x a day and warm compresses a week before the surgery to get the eyes as healthy as can be beforehand. But depending on age, pre-existing corneal issues and healthy, the healing process can vary.
Drs. - thank you so much for providing this video on LASIK. As a 64 yr. old, and a contact lens/glasses wearer, could you advise about doing this at an older age? The main consideration is that you may be in the beginning stages of developing cataracts. We all get them, but this will affect your vision and prescription, so doing LASIK now may not give you great vision for long. Refractive lens exchange may be a better option for you.
I use to be legally blind, I wore glasses, and also had an astigmatism in each eye. I had intra lasik when i was 20, I am now 38, to this day i still say it is the best money I've ever spent. Having been almost 20 years, it is time to have this done again, but the dr. the did it has now passed away. In your opinions, what would be the best type of lasik procedure to have now.
Because you had LASIK in the past, it would be best to stick with it again. Even though the machines has been upgraded since you had your eyes done in the past, the technique is about the same!
I had PRK and it destroyed my vision. It was the worse decision I ever made and it destroyed my life and has destroyed the lives of so many others. I didn’t develop any vision issues until about a year after the surgery. You may be fine now but you can develop vision issues and/or severe eye pain years after the surgery. You are also more prone to all sorts of things like corneal ectasia, detached retinas, early onset cataracts, etc. Even if you don’t develop noticeable symptoms, your eyes are still damaged structurally. The cornea was never meant to be cut open. I wish every single day I could go back and not have it and be able to haveperfect vison with glasses and soft contact lenses again. Unfortunately, I can’t go back in time but at least I can warn others about how dangerous these procedures are so maybe they won’t have to suffer like me. These scum bag ophthalmologists will never tell you any of this. If they believe in its safety and efficacy then why is that criminal on the right wearing glasses? It’s because he knows what these procedures are really like and doesn’t want to butcher his own eyes. These people are pure evil.
Very informative video! I'm 38 and with a -3.50 & -3.75 Rx with some astigmatism. I can see with naked eyes very well very close-up till ~8 in. out before my vision dramatically falls off into blur territory. Wearing my prescribed glasses or contact lenses results in this near-filed vision to be very compromised as they are a solution for near-sightedness. Would getting Lasik or SMILE have a similar effect? Would I lose they very close-up ability, or would these procedures dramatically improve my distance and mid-field vision without sacrificing the micro detail close magnification that I still have? Thank you for your insight!
Your built-in readers (your natural near sighted eyes) will be gone if you chose to set the target vision for perfect distance. You may have a few good years before you will need to start using reading glasses, so this may not be the best option for you if you love the crisp near vision. Hope this helps!

@@Odank it all depends on the age. Anyone over the age of 40 has a reduction of the natural accommodation or ability to focus up close, and over 60 years old, we almost have no ability to accommodate due to the crystalline lens stiffening in the eye. So of you are near sighted, this doesn't mean your lens is lasting longer than everybody else, so getting any surgery to reduce your natural near sighted eye will make you like everyone else your age who does not need glasses for distance.
Anyone thinking about any corrective eye surgery please research corneal neuralgia or neuropathic ocular pain from LASIK. It doesn't matter if it's the best doctor in the world that is performing the surgery. It all depends on how your eyes will heal. There's no doctor in the world can be predicted how your eyes are going to heal after LASIK. When getting corrective surgery they literally sever the most sensitive nerves in your entire body, which is your cornea. There's a chance that your nerves will not heal back correctly even though you are a perfect candidate. Damaged nerves causes corneal neuralgia. Something you do not want to experience. It's a life-altering complication. Please anybody thinking about corrective eye surgery PLEASE do your research on what can happen. Corrective eye clinics barely brush over complications.
With any surgery that we perform on ourselves we should all do our due diligence and know as much as we can to prevent things that we can control, as well as try to plan ahead for the things that are out of our control. We must weight out the pros and cons for any surgery.
@@TrueFocusEyeCare True! I also think if these surgery clinics and doctors really cares about their patients, they need to inform them on the complications that can occur. The problems with these corrective eye surgery chains, they barely brush over the complications. I was naive at 25 when I got LASIK done. They never explained what permanent complications can happen. The only complication they told me about was I might have dry eyes, halos and some glare. But it would subside after 6 months. Never told me it could be permanent. Never heard a word about corneal pain. When I got LASIK done "Googling it" wasn't really a thing. I kept getting brushed off as I had some Lasik dryness but kept on telling me it would go away. After they were done with treating me I was left alone dealing with constant eye pain and dryness. It took me many years later to finally find doctors that told me I have corneal neuralgia.

I’ve had an injury to my right eye playing soccer. Ball hit my eye and lost vision for about a week. Doctors told me I had a bruise inside my eye ( not a black eye literally inside my eye 🤷♂️). It’s been about 2-3 years now since then. My vision has not gotten better. Wanted to know what should I look into to help my vision. My right eye is the eye I rely on the most as my left eyeball is not a correct shape and vision is really blurry to the point where I can’t see a persons face details even when they are a feet away from me.
Wow, thanks for sharing. If your vision in your left eye can be corrected with glasses, then contacts or LASIK in that one eye could be helpful. If you are Amblyopic, which means your worse eye is not correctable, then this probably wouldn't be helpful at all.
hi ik this is a late comment but i need y’all’s help, honestly i’m living a pretty miserable life rn with horrible vision and i have a really high prescription i don’t even like going outside anymore, i’m 16 now and too young so i want it later but i’m scared my prescription will drop too much for me to be eligible, i have -6.25 and -8.00 and i got glasses in 3rd grade
If you are young, and you want quite a few years without any glasses, then go for it, but if you are nearing 40 or beyond, then enjoy your near sighted eyes and the lack of needing to look for reading glasses every time you want to read.
I had my lasik surgery 6 days ago. Right after the surgery my left eye was clear but when i woke up the next day it turned blurry, and it has been 5 days until now that it's still blurry. Is this normal? Will it get better or is there something wrong with the procedure?
This will always be a major point to address before the surgery. Luckily we know how much tissue is going to be reduced during the surgery, and we also know what are the safe ranges that we don't have to worry about ectasia. But... in the real world, there is no such thing as textbook cases, so this is a risk, even though it is almost neglegible nowadays.
How dependent on the results on the patient's cooperation? If they accidentally move their eye a bit during the laser step, does that create a problem?
I'm not a doctor but since I'm doing lasik tomorrow I can tell you that they told me I could get rejected for several reasons. Health of the eyes, amount of tissues you have in your eye, your eye prescription etc.
It is patient by patient basis, but if eligible, it is a very safe procedure with the least amount of complications of any other surgery. But Robert is correct on his last comment about prescription, eye health and corneal thickness.
Sir I have blurred vision I am seeing the real image object sometimes above sometimes below in light color seeing halos glare starburst seeing rays light coming to me , sometimes near light crawl webnet type I have glabella temples pain I can't roll my eyes it hurt seeing above and it hurt and I feel tired eyes I just want to always close my eyes one day in afternoon I was seeing light of sun then seeing the cloud yellow color appear on the cloud sometimes sir when I see bright light simple normal bulb type light it cause me darkness I have anxiety issues and nasalpolyps sinusitis problem too my spects power is -2&-2.5 with 0.5 cyl 180 axis I have this prob facing since Oct 2020 I have shown to opthomology and optician but my prob not resolved slowly slowly I am loosing my eyesight ,the image become 2+3 that's why I don't have clear focus image plz sir reply what prob ,is I have any serious problem or it is just anxiety or something else problem in my eyes?? I am losing my eyesight I am already spects wearer after wearing spects too I am seeing rays coming to me and Starburst too !! Plz tell why this happening anxiety issues or cataract or optic nerve or something serious ,plz help !!
Sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on right now, and it might not just be your eyes. Unfortunately, I can't diagnose anything unless I see you, but you may do well looking into neurolenses for eye misalignment.
Sorry, but this is not my area of expertise. Every specialist has there own preference, but of all the places that my patients come back after this procedure, I don't see any difference in vision.
Doc , I am 18 do you recommend me getting it ? I Want it really bad like REALLY bad , I don't mind if I have to re do it again at a later date I just want healthy eyes now ! My brother got it at 18 and now he is 23 and he is vision is still excellent, should I do it at 18 ?
I understand not wanting to wait, but the only person who can help you decide is your eye doctor. If your prescription has hardly changed from last year, then you may be eligible. Then after that, the decision is yours.
When I educate about an elective medical procedure like LASIK, it is to answer any questions people may have about it. It's not the same as a Dentist teaching you how to floss your teeth even though they have lost all of their teeth due to neglect. But even if the Dentist had no teeth, if the education is sound, it may be distracting, but I'd still listen.
Guys, i need help. Got prk done 5 months ago and everything went well except for having dry eye (had to use my eye drops 4 times a day) but it wasn't anything terrible. 2 months after the surgery i got covid and got infected with episkleritis and my dry eye got worse then i had to get booster shot (i am in the Army) for covid and it got worse. Doctors made me a serum from my own blood and it kinda works but still I have to use my eyedrops 15 times a day. They are telling me that people are having the same issue after covid. Do you have any experience with that please?
It depends on the person. Most will lose the glare and starburst within a few weeks, but if someone has dry eye issues or any other surface issues that are not addressed, then these symptoms will be seen. Talk to your eye doctor as long as you need to get answers on how to improve your symptoms.
I did surgery 4 weeks ago, (FemtoLasik)I still can't see well at a distance, I want to mention that I had mixed astigmatism -1.75 +0.25 in both eyes, how long will it take until I can see well?
Most people will see well before the first week, but sometimes it can take 4-6 weeks for your vision to completely settle. But talk to your surgeon to see if they expect to see improvement, and if not, then they should be able to enhance it if there are no other complications that they see with your eyes.

@@blackborne4488 It is possible that you may have some residual astigmatism that could get better over the next few months. If you are seeing two separate objects like 2 completely separate stop signs, then that is an issue that needs to be addressed by your doctor.
Is it really safe to opt for lasik if you do martial arts or play sports like soccer where you might get hit in the face? Does the cornea become that weak after lasik ?
We used to be very concerned about that, but it was so rare that the flap that was created during LASIK would dislocate that now even the military is providing it for soldiers. Though, if this is a concern, PRK solves that problem. It just takes a few more days to heal and can be a little more uncomfortable during that healing process.
I would say about a week to be safe, but I don't see why you couldn't shoot earlier as long as you keep your eyes at a safe distance from the scope and wear safety glasses.
Depending on the thickness of the front of the eye and the stability of your vision, you may be fine. I've had a patient who's Rx was -12.00, and they did great!
Because LASIK is a choice that is good for some people and not for all. At this time, I don't want LASIK, but I may in the future if I think my life would be improved because of it. I love my glasses!
