This WCF was actually slightly better than the record shows (4-0 Warriors sweep) simply because the Blazers has like 3 straight games of a 15 point lead, but ending up blowing it all 3 times.
The Dame CJ era of Portland was golden, but this just showed the ceiling for such a backcourt-centric and iso-heavy offense. They were just taking turns doing iso plays
@@konovalov428 It was mostly because of 2 things 1. CJ is actually an amazing offensive player, smart too. The system just failed to maximize his potential + lack of a supporting cast 2. He was great buds with Dame on and off the court. In addition to important chemistry, keeping him meant keeping Dame happy and loyal despite the organization's shortcomings
I c where ur coming from but it all starts fork Steph curry’s offensive gravity. The warriors ran the same play over and over, Steph curry pick and roll. Steph drew two defenders, which allowed draymond to dominate offensively by getting easier shots and alley oops.
Nurkic was vital too on Blazers and Curry had Klay and Draymond. It wasn't pure luck that Golden State did a comeback and Portland choke. Just that Golden State as a team back then was way way better than Portland was. Let us have a little something like this, you know the team has been falling off the first round of playoffs these past few years. I doubt even if Durant was there or not, we would've had our ass beaten so I don't get the slight hate I'm kinda seeing from the comment.
its absolutely clear that warrior is a better team than blazer from this last 5 minutes battle. warriors with more calm decision and implemention of the tatics
Must be surreal for the parents of both Steph and Seth, imagine both of your sons making it to the NBA and playing in a Western Conference Finals Vs. Each other.
CJ and Lillard definitely choked all four games by themselves while the role players were excellent. Four games, all contained with 10 points lead, and they blew it all coz they made dumb decisions and taking hero shots and ppl act like Dame is real superstar, what he played great is only the first round only until now.
Lillard was getting hounded by double teams all series. Keep the energy consistent when you guys make this argument for Steph and his lack of finals mvps or his poor playoff performances, but don’t for Dame… you can even see from this video, CJ was getting every matchup he wanted and wide open looks. Yet he couldn’t do anything.
@@Supermariohoops24 are u blind????? didn't u saw in the vid Steph's getting tripled and doubled but had big impact in the game???????? that's what separates him from Lillard.
@@mikegee902 no but a lot people thought it can go 6 or 7 and wouldn’t be surprised if the blazers won the series, the blazers had better depth and maybe this was dame coming up story. Unfortunately that wasn’t dame time…
@@zubdew i’d surely don’t hear it often. Every time when I talk about they never had a chance of winning a ring we never bring this opportunity up. And I am a damn fan and I also agree that they wasnt gonna win any way. But they should’ve at least competed in they didn’t . We hear inconsistencies from Dame but damn seems more like an under-performer than a consistent one
@@randomperson2540 I see and I agree, I guess I was inferring that you meant they have received truly ZERO criticism. But in reality, your point is simply that they haven't received enough or as much as is warranted, which I completely agree with.
yeah but back then, the team didn't have jp, wiggs, gp2, kuminga etc. He'd rather be a defensive anchor and create opportunities for the players who are better offensively.
He does this all the time he just rolls off a Curry trap and lobs to Looney or takes a layup if they don’t step up. At times these playoffs Draymond hurt the team cause guys like Robert Williams and Jaren Jackson could leave him and roam on defense. In the Grizzlies series especially with all the lengthy switchable defenders they have they were able to play the pass and force tons of turnovers.
They for sure missed Nurkic this series because he was injured. He knows how to defend the pick and roll, and Myers Leonard or Kanter couldn't. And Nurkic was a really good post scorer. He was at his peak in 2019
You can tell Dame had broke his ribs this game, he doesn't take shot the final five minutes just tries to draw two fouls and CJ bricked all his shots. Blazers needed their center for this series- and they needed a better coach.
This info you posted is the biggest reason why I believe Lillard is very good but clearly not great. Biggest playoff series of his career, against a GSW team with no Durant & his famed "clutchness" was nowhere to be seen, in ANY of the four games. Conversely, Steph (his direct counterpart) was dominant each game, while Dame was average, at best. Hitting game winners in the 1st round is one thing, being clutch deep into the playoffs (when the stakes are much higher) is a totally different animal. Levels...
Lol how can they let draymond get a layup in transition, that really shows how awful your team defense is if you're allowing a pass first guy to get an easy layup and just using less than 5 seconds of their shot clock, if they just defended decently during clutch time they would have pulled this off, probably would made the series much exciting if they organized their defense much better after a made basket
@@MannyParadisee nope you could clearly see them dapping Myers Leonard instead of setting their defense right away and why is Leonard not in the paint?
@@MannyParadisee "didnt expect" is a lame excuse. A team should always look to set the defense right after a made basket, and its playoff basketball bruh and also it is in the closing minutes of the game.
