These are the final two rides on buses through Seattle's Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel:
First, a historic dual-mode Breda 5034 ran the last express round trip northbound through the tunnel from International District Station to Westlake Station.
From there, riders transferred to one of three New Flyer DE60LF/DE60LFR buses, heading north out of Westlake to Ninth Avenue and Olive Street bus stop. Finally, the trio returned southbound through the tunnel, returning passengers to International District Station and concluding bus service in the DSTT. 6964 was the last bus to drive through the tunnel.

The beauty of the old Bus Tunnel as I remember it... How could it be that is now a train tunnel only? Shake my head!

The predomanant reason is the Convention Center expansion; construction has already demolished the former Convention Place Station and is now about to eclipse the northern exit of the tunnel. Expanded Link headways are not a factor yet, but will be eventually.

CookieGuru I alway remember that one year I was living in Seattle and still remember the bus tunnel and the interesting Convention Place Station. I first thought it was a bus depot, and it was because when I first came to Seattle, was early 2007 and the tunnel was being retrofitted while the light rail was under construction. The tunnel was opened in late 2007 and back then I remembered when taking the Sound Transit 550 from Bellevue into Seattle as the bus entered the tunnel, from I90 you could even see the T-MOBILE and Century Link stadiums all together and it feels so good to remember those days. Sadly as I had to return to Orlando Florida in 2008, wasn't able to ever ride the Link Light Rail and to see what would be like riding inside the tunnel with the buses and trains. I guess the bus tunnel wasn't meant to be a permanent solution to the Seattle traffic, but now is about to get even worse with over 800 buses running 2nd, 3rd and 4th Avenue. Just a few routes on 5th Avenue? I mean... Good luck with the traffic mayhem! 😱

@@CookieGuru Another reason: The East Link Extension will be using the same tunnel in Seattle so it is impossible to add buses running in the already packed tunnel.

The Breda ran diesel since there's only one OCS wire in the tunnel now
