Located in the Fairway Plaza on US-9 in Old Bridge, NJ, this vintage ShopRite, adorned with classic logos and an old-school charm, saw its last day of operation on March 16. #shoprite #closed #nj #supermarket
Thanks, dude! I wanted to try something fresh and unique for this ShopRite video. Stepping into the store felt like traveling back in time to the early '90s with its retro vibe. Given my intro's VHS-inspired design, I thought it would be cool to make feel like a home movie driving up to the store.
Ok, I can’t stop commenting! This seriously was a perfect simple video! Now I see the thumbnail with the “closing”!!! That’s perfect level 10!!! Nice work dude! 😂
Thanks for grabbing this video! Also awesome to just hear the sounds of the final moments. I would like to just do original audio on some of my vids, but I find myself making weird sounds and talking to myself like Sleeve does! 😂😂😂
Thanks for tuning in, Andy! I'm curious-are there any old, vintage supermarkets in your area that have retained their retro charm and haven't been updated with modern features?
@@TeknBolt I don't think so here in my hometown. I do know that there is an old school Safeway that has never been remodeled about 45 minutes away from my home. I might have to check it out one day!
Daaaamn! That sign goes back to when I was a kid. I remember this place, but we would usually just drive past. We usually went to the ShopRite in Spotswood and Hightstown (the original near Jamesway, not the current world class one).
Dude, the old school sign was one of the best part of this video thats why I went to go film at night because I wanted to see how it looked like when they were lit up.
Charles Shakoor bought this ShopRite from Consolidated ShopRite supermarkets when the company was going out of business. Village ShopRite markets bought the store when Charles Shakoor retired.
You have also gotta do a tour of the Watchung location, since it is expected to be relocated to a newer store format (similar to this ShopRite’s new location) in the coming months. That ShopRite is also a TIME CAPSULE, as it has been stuck in the 70s for years!!!
We need to see the old “APPY” sign shop rite would always have at the deli. A lot of people have no idea what that means and it’s probably only seen in that ny/nj area.
