I got a lump in my throat when you made the announcement even though I knew you were already home. Thank you for sharing your journey, not only on the trail, but the journey in your mind that took place as you decided how to proceed with the whole situation. Hey Taylor, I’m retiring in a year and half. My wife and I are planning a March 2023 thru hike. What a joy it is to gather information on the trail and your adventures. We have always enjoyed nature and the people we meet on the trail. We should finally have the time to do such an endeavor if our bodies hold up through the extremity of the trail. Following your hike will be an inspiration for us to get on with it to actually do the trail to the end. Thanks Randy

WOW..great hostel and caretaker. Heartbreaking something as tiny you can't see has changed everything. Why every day should be lived as if it's your last. As much a great experience the AT was this year, your homecoming was exceptional !

Great job Taylor. It’s the right decision as so many have said. We were planning to hike the Camino in May, and we’ve had to postpone that as well. So, for you - not ‘if’ you get back, but ‘when’. The AT will always be there!

I really enjoyed watching your hike Taylor. I hope one day to hear you have become a triple crowner. Trail legs are a gift. Smart decision. Today my daughter took her 10 & 12 year old hiking in a safe & isolated Michigan trail, trail NOT closed. Once a hiker, always a hiker. I will look for you in utube when you are back on the trail. Stay well.

Hi Taylor. I was wondering if you had planned on doing a video where you could discuss all of your positive and negative experiences on and off the trail this year? Also, what would you do different? In other words, how would you plan your hike for next year, differently than this year? Equipment, hostels, shelters, hiking solo or in small groups, food, etc. Enjoy your videos...best of luck.

What can I say...? Bittersweet...This will be a special, unforgettable year for the AT. How can I describe my feelings? Today would have been day 3 for me on the AT. This will obviously go down as the most epic year for the AT in a very special way. Whoever started the AT, planned to start the AT, or finished??? the AT this year will have a story to tell their children, grandchildren, parents and grandparents. Hopefully there will be no other year like this one in the future of the AT. I'm already thinking I should sell T-Shirts with the AT symbol or whit stripe on it saying "I Survived Covid-19" or something like that. I wish you well and hope to "see you on the trail" some day or maybe better yet, get trail magic from you when I get to Nahamsha! John from MI

I know this has been a hard decision for many thru hikers this year, but I think you are making the right choice and I fully support you in your decision. Hopefully this whole pandemic wont last very long and you will be able to head back to the trail to finish your hike.

It is a really scary time. A neighbor 10 houses away 73 has passed on 3/26/20 from the Corona virus he had symptoms for two days. Stay well everyone.

Don’t worry, I was just thrown off trail and still in the airport. The trail will always be there.

The good news is that when the trail reopens you are in a prime spot to go SOBO now and in essence to a flip flop.

Did anyone else notice at 2:34 what looks like a smoking appliance in the kitchen of the hostel? What the heck was that, or was it just a trick of what the camera picked up? It looks like a smoking toaster (?)

Oh, I’m sorry. Coronavirus ruined my trip hiking AT on April. My saving food hiking is messed. I cancelled booked hotel and bus station 😭 Coronavirus need stop now!

You should be back on trail in by May when all the pandemic media hype is over.
