Have really enjoyed watching your hike and seeing you grow into it. Sad for you that you had to get off trail but totally agree that it was the right thing to do. I hope you and your family are all safe and well and that we will all come out the other side better people. The trail will still be there waiting for you.
Taylor you did an amazing job & got far be proud of yourself! & next year you'll surpass your goals! Huge props. I will definitely be tuning in next year to support you & cheer you on! Congrats on how far you got on this journey. Peace & love, take care & God bless 🙂👍🌷❤
chuckling...had you released in order, that would've been an abrupt ending, good call. I've enjoyed you journey so much and you are 1/4 who I followed right off the trail. Everyone is safe and well. I look forward to your next adventure ;)
You obviously enjoyed the hike SOOO much, it's been tough on me (and probably most of your viewers) to see you make the hard decision to get off trail. I hope that you get through the trying times ahead with your health and keep that uplifting, positive attitude. I understand that you got some snow up there the other day. Maybe you could go out into the woods and mountains and show your viewers around? If this virus thing blows over more quickly than expected, you could always get on trail right from home, head south until you link up with your exit point, flop north to NH and finish at Katahdin. I bet you've already contemplated that. Whatever you do, be blessed and continue to be a blessing. Take care! ☺👍
Daniel, we did on Tues. but it's all melted now. She only lives about 40 miles from where I live so it's probably the same. Hangs on in the mountains for a lot longer so the ground is probably still covered. It's bare in Southern NH.
I'm glad you were able to camp at Max Patch before having to leave the trail. That would be the highlight of many an AT experience, I think. It's tough to watch as you begin to confront the difficult choice that you eventually had to make. I still think you did the right thing -- really the only thing you could do. I hope you are enjoying being back with your family and boy friend. Remember, the trail will be there for you next year.
Taylor, Thanks for another great vlog! I have certainly enjoyed following you..glad you got to camp on Max Patch..its a neat place! Stay safe and I will stay tuned to see whats next.Peace
Taylor, you made a sensible decision, as difficult as I know that had to be. As always, another great video and looking forward to many more, either from any other hikes you do or when you get out to the AT again.
It took me a while to catch up with your videos and I wanted to watch them all before watching your off the trail video. I have not been making comments however I will now and just say You're a strong hiker at a fast pace and have done a great job on the trail. Hopefully, you will be able to finish your thru-hike. Hike~On~~>
Love those new signs put up by Carolina Mountain Club - saw the one at Davenport Gap and did not know they did others - those are sweet - love that section of trail - did some trail magic this spring at Davenport and Lemon Gap - Love Max Patch but I'll be curious what you think next year about Big Bald - I think I like it better - it's a good ways north of Hot Springs after you go under I-26 but before Uncle Johnny's and the Nolichucky River outside Erwin TN
More than anything I’m sad that some of your hike was spent having to make so many decisions that thru hikers in the past did not have to worry about. You and the entire AT class of 2020 have earned my utmost respect for what you had to do out there.
I remember that toilet this year 2020. In the earlier part of the morning, we had 60 mph winds when I was there. That was toward the end of March. Where were you when the winds hit (followed by rain)?
Have enjoyed your videos. I’ll catch you on your return journey. I know you love country music so visit Nashville, Music City when the virus and social distancing is over.
Do newer Jetboil stoves not have the built-in piezo ignighter? I've just noticed a lighter being used, or being out with the stove. My 2004 Jetboil has an igniter that still works. Just wondering..... And I've been paying attention to stove igniters ever since the one on my MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe started giving me problems. That was one helluva beautiful campsite! It was nice of the wind to calm down!
Hey Taylor I love the name you have being from Maine and NH myself the name is Awesome I just started watching your video this month I came across your channel just searching things I watched a video then started watching them first thing in the morning with a ice coffee kinda got hooked, its now when MY GF wakes up hears your voice on my laptop she calls you my RU-vid GF jokingly . So sorry you had to leave the trail I am sure it took a lot of time and planning to get ready to even do the hike thru. I would been crushed after all that work and planning. But at least your safe and healthy. I hope you DO get to thru hike the Appalachian trail next year and if you post it here I will watch :) Stay safe from Maine
So didn't you say you wanted off the trail well before this cova19 virus? "That thur hiking might not be your thing". Was that just a bad day and then the virus came
The logistics of ending your thru hike must have been stressful, you can see it in the VLOG. This Pandemic blew up almost overnight, nobody's fault, just bad luck. I believe the opportunity will be for many to get back on trail once heat and humidity hit, this virus does not like that.
And now you’re home where you are exposed to 100 times more people and could be 100 times more likely to accidentally spread the virus. The guy who lectures hikers about the dangers of walking alone in the woods probably just came home from shopping at Walmart and is spending every day around other people. It’s all about common sense and good judgement. I’m so sorry this interrupted your hike. My hike was last year so I can understand what this means to you. It must have been a heart wrenching decision for you. You are obviously an intelligent and compassionate person who is trying to do the right thing. I sincerely hope you can get back on a proceed very soon.
Taylor the Nahamsha Hiker hahaha! Seriously, I hope you can get back out and continue. The experience will be something you reflect on for the rest of your life. I’ll keep an eye on your channel for sure.
