Mike, I extremely happy to hear that you are getting some nice moisture on the south farm. We have been very dry for the last 21/2 years. 1 to 2 tenths of rain instead of 1 to 2 inches. We had a few timely rains and we had decent crops because of that. This year we have had almost the same amount of moisture as we had for the last two years. Rain makes grain.

We seed at an inch up here all the time. My theory is if it’s to wet there will be a quarter inch of mud buildt up on packer tire. And if it’s dry there won’t be any mud buildt up on packer tire. Being dry u probably want to seed deeper anyways. If that makes sense.

17:17 RE: WITH SECTION CONTROL you are not seeding where the drill already been..... ''half staying in but not seeding you think it's bad but ya don't see it at harvest time......'' I wonder if it is actually like ''the extra juggle jiggle jiggle'' around the END ROWS actually helps with the compaction that shows up so it ''evens out at harvesttime'' actually instead of ''hindering growth cuz of compaction.....'' it instead offers up a LITTLE BIT OF DECOMPACTION ...without running extra tillage equip thru another pass? did that translate rite?

It’s like corn planter is the same way… it will only plant where there is no seed. The GPS receiver on top of the cab knows exactly where you are on earth within an 1” and if you are overlapping your previous pass it will shut off that side of the planter or drill automatically.

Will be really interesting when the carts become electrified. Drive axles and electric fans. Think an 8RX 410 EVT with powered cart axles would be interesting. Add batteries instead of ballast for power filling capabilities. Add 200 HP to the cart wheels and you get rid of the drag of the cart. Yes and before people jump on this, its being used in Europe for manure tankers and Carts. Its a thing. We will start to see series hybrids entering the market. Edison motors but in the Ag world. Lots of old Iron that could be up powered with electric axles. Big buds would be interesting or old Versailles. There is another market out there and thats selling power on the off season to the grid. All that horsepower just sitting around could be useful, especially if you had batteries on board that could be used for grid services. Farmers could get into the selling power business in the future. It sounds crazy but is it??? Think Alberta last winter. 1000 600 hp tractors can put out half a gigawatt of power onto the grid. Add all the trucks sitting around and you really have something. A but of a tangent, thoughts??

It´s good to know when to call it quits before shit hits the fan. I usually just quit when it´s already hit and then you´ve got yourself stuck in a whole different slew. Drill inspector in chief takes me way back, you don´t know how good that reminder was right now.

Honestly amazed you can get any sort of emergence planting that wet..if we tried that with grain crops in Ontario the land would be so compacted and crusted we'd be lucky to get 5% stand.

My grandad, who was a farmer, used to say that one extreme will follow another (and then a return to normal). So extremely dry will be followed by extremely wet before a return to normal. Where I live we had 20 inches of rain one February years ago and then dry weather for two years.

6:35 🙂‍↔️ oh not true Brother Mike Sailing races around the Seattle area are often won by a quarter MPH. Sailors know what a quarter MPH feels like because sometimes it’s all we get. 4 knots is high speed in a 25ft Sailboat ⛵️ that’s basically Hull Speed. Basically enough speed to have rudder steering authority. 😏❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸
