Epic video Joe! Being born and raised in Millinocket and having a shack on Ambajejus for many years this was fun to watch. I still continue the trek up home 3-4 times a winter to catch these Salmon and surprisingly nice Brooke’s as of late. Lots of racers in that lake so it’s always nice to see a big one pulled up.
Nice end to last year. I'm very close to that spot and will be hitting it in the next couple weeks.. I love you see what gets pulled out of my local waters. Can't wait to see more of this year's trips. Tight lines on the tip ups!
Steve Osborne, the baseball player? He was a great pitcher. Great video. Ambejesus is a great lake. There are tons of smelts in that chain of lakes. I left Millinocket and live down near Bangor now. I go up often fishing and smelting. Great bird hunting too! Still thinking about Chamberlain this winter if I can swing it. Still one of my favorite places to go.
Awesome! Wish we would have got into some more cusk that day. We were just around the point from you guys in what they call the “gut”. Next year we will have to get together. I use to play football with Jeff.
I enjoyed some of the history of the area, especially the logging and that house. Here in Wisconsin shortly after the turn of the 20th century almost all trees had been cleared. That had to have been a sight (sad in some ways) seeing as far as the eye could see because there were no trees to block views! Now there's still some logging up north but its all done commercially with perfectly straight rows of mostly pine, and even has been greatly reduced in the last 20-30 years.
Caught a cusk. A white perch ate the shiner and the cusk at the white perch. The ol 2 for one lol. I posted pictures on the Maine ice fishing site on Facebook.
Hey Joe, I love your ice fishing videos. But the logging info in this one is really cool. I've spent my career as an engineer working in the pulp and paper industry, and really appreciate this info. Back in the day, we did a a rebuild on a paper machine in Jay, ME. Great memories of visiting your wonderful state. Lobster then was $4.95/LB. Cheers! Looking forward to your future content.
Hi Joe, Just wondering what is the best way to handle human waste out there. Also I was wondering what the reasoning is on not allowing generators on the ice.
Most places allow generators on the ice just not on the Allagash Waterway. Waste either decomposes in the woods or gets carried out in a bag if in city areas.
I put scratchers on mine but it’s a great idea to have the bottle of dish soap for the guys that don’t have scratchers. I went once without either and basically welded the runners to the track, not good.
Bwahahahahahahahaha Love it Slay'n the burrrbit GUY Thanks for the great season Joe Not being able to physically ice fish I had a blast watching your adventures Haus Thanks man!
