Man, I love this show! First time I ever saw it I was 12, traveling across the country moving from the East coast to the West. I saw it in the motel room with my twin brother, and in the just the opening minutes, I was HOOKED. But... what kept me as a fan forever was about halfway through the episode, when the whole show's focus switched over to the prosecutors! I'd never seen a show broken down like that; I grew up on Perry Mason reruns and Matlock, or cop shows. This was the first show I saw that did both, and did them both amazingly well! The problem isn't Double Jeopardy, the problem is that he just doesn't have enough evidence to convict. Going through a suspect's apartment without so much as gloves on? Even JUST touching the outside of the trigger guard and barely handling a jacket, in an actual court they'd still invalidate just about any evidence they'd find doing that. This is common with US crime dramas though, Columbo could be especially bad about mishandling evidence, unlike UK shows where forensics investigators wear full-body suits to avoid contamination of a crime scene or other area they search.

Larry Miller is one of those actors you’ve seen a million times, but you can never remember what you’ve seen him in.

Add this one to the Big Mouth Billy Bass hanging on McCoy's office wall: "the one that got away".

Only thing about the early episodes is often they aren’t wearing gloves to keep their prints off of things. Overall it’s really good but just little things like that.

Convenient last minute evidence that exonerates such a smug defendant is always a big red flag

IN the British police series, the Sweeney (aka the Flying Squad), they hunt down two Australian armed robbers, only in the end to find out they had already left England. Very unusual ending. But it resolved itself in a later episode, when the two, to the astonishment of the police, reappeared in England. Again, they were hunted down, and this time they were caught. lol

"Jury will disregard" oh right, let me just quickly forget what I just heard and completely ignore it when deliberating for a veredict.

Double jeopardy is only if you’re found innocent, not if the case is dismissed isn’t it?

I always say that if your sure enough that this person killed a loved one then you should hire a hitman to seek justice for them when the law fails

When the prosecution loses...that's when you see what kind of cast you're working with. It really didn't get any better than this: Schiff and McCoy.

Ah, if only that video had been found before the charges were dismissed...had this episode been done today, they might have called/texted one of the lawyers right before and maybe stopped the dismissal.
