Hi Tom! No idea if you check these comments but hey, might as well. I was the non-verbal woman who came to your stall at MCM on the Friday and I'd like to thank you for being so understanding of the situation - Even when I was certainly less communicative than others! You were happy to read the prepared cards and take the initiative in talking to me about all the things I wrote about even when I couldn't particularly reply easily. It was a lovely experience to meet you and people aren't lying when they say that hanging around your stall feels like a safe spot in the con halls. Apologies for my face in the pictures - I have incredibly bad resting bitch face and really need to work on making my eyes express emotions rather than looking perpetually tired and dead inside (Though both of those things are true.) Thank you again for being accomodating, and I hope to see you again at October MCM! I'll try and have better cards... And a copy of Bee Movie. I will never let that joke die, no matter how much you want it to.

Adoption is always a really good option. You aren't bringing a child into a world that might not be able to provide for them, but instead giving a better chance to a child already in this world. And you don't even have to adopt a baby or toddler, but could instead give a home to someone who might be considered "too old" by most prospective parents.
@mittenielsen8424
@mittenielsen8424 10 месяцев назад
I wish sometimes adoption would be easier tho.. my sister and her husband werent able to adopt mainly because he had cancer like twice during his life and beat it, but the adoption agency takes that as a red flag bc that means he might get it again.. To begin with the whole reason why they cant get kids is because he got treated with some very strong meds as a child to fight the cancer which he didnt figure out until after he was 30, that those treatments had basically made him sterile

Regarding the podcast idea: there's a very similar TV show here in The Netherlands called "Over Mijn Lijk" (translates to "Over My Dead Body") that is basically a mini-documentary that follows terminally ill people (ranging between 14 and 40 years old or so) on what often ends up being their last few months or years. I get that this may sound morbid or grotesque, but it's a lovely show that really puts into perspective everyone's struggles. The maturity some of the youngest terminally ill people show is honestly baffling to witness. If you do decide to do this podcast, I think it'd be a nice way to tell the stories of people we don't often hear about. The points you made about it having to be handled _exceptionally_ carefully are valid, and you'd need a rock solid production crew and a very steady mind going in.

Hey Tom, the podcast idea is essentially the Dutch program called 'Over mijn lijk' (over my dead body). Hey Tom! Your emotional growth and the 'I'm just an innocent men' was eye-opening and really touching. I wish you all the best Tom, especially with the recent hate from those protests. Also with the podcast idea, rather than having the concept be AFTER an individual passes away, I think being able to release it so that that the individuals can see the impact they've had on people and gain support would be better. But even that, that doesn't account for, as you said, all the logistical, ethical and soul-crushing issues lol

As someone who has had to deal with deal with death a lot in my life from a young age. Im at ease with death for the most part. I watch ask a mortician and I try to talk about death casually. I think it needs to be normalized. Also im turning 25 this year. I used to say I wanted to have my family done by the time I was 27… I used to want to at least be married by 22. Then life happened, I struggled mentally for years and years, and now im getting my life back on track, im planing a big move in the next few years (Canada to Korea) and love and children will happen when they happen. I no longer feel the need to put so much pressure on myself I just want to be happy and enjoy what I’m doing.

Tomska, you’ve been someone that I’ve known for basically my entire life. All of your videos have helped me make some good friends over the years and I deeply thank you for that. I’ve seen several of these ‘Last Month’ videos that you’ve started in 2023, and it’s just amazing to see you go from someone who has mental health problems and feels like they’re a failure, to someone who is pushing through their problems and starting to use past experiences to refine the way you live today. It truly is amazing and inspiring to watch you climb yourself out of this pit of despair and sadness and start to just pioneer through these problems and put yourself on top of these grievances. Most of us on here we’ve known you for our entire lives, you may be just a person in your eyes. Although to me and so many more, you’re someone that we can be inspired by to be better, and gain the confidence we need to push through our own problems. Hey Tom, long term fan of yours and the guys! I think your idea on This Person is Dead is brilliant. I’m a mental health therapist - and I think doing a short course on counselling would be really helpful to you. Levels 1 - 3 teach you to be the best listener you can be, and keep the conversation flowing in a compassionate way - you’d also learn how to look after yourself during and after those conversations. Then perhaps for a top up - a bereavement course too could be helpful. I honestly think a lot of jobs would benefit from taking a counselling course because it teaches you to have real conversations, whilst being delicate. I understand there’s a lot of ethical things to think about but I hope you go through with it! I think it would bring a lot of people comfort. Best of luck, and much love to you and the gang ❤

I don’t really watch a lot of your stuff but it really struck me - it’s very telling there’s actual women you hang out with / treat the same as men. It’s nice to see, it’s a weirdly stark contrast to other internet personalities that really don’t. Even people I watch - and I’m left leaning. It’s refreshing. Oh and the kid thing, I’m in a similar situation (but older). Do you really want kids, or do you want the idea of a nice settled life where you’re mentally healthy to handle it. For me sometimes I think I just like the idea of a life where I’m strong enough to have a family and it’s all positive.

I really appreciate all the talking you do about your mental health, as somebody who has been struggling with similar suicidal idealizations and depression it really means a lot that you've always been so willing to talk about it, especially in your unique way of talking. Thank you again Tom :)

Another great last month video that makes my day. Hope you're doing alright, Tom, and being a writer myself, I feel your pain on having writers block/and/or not feeling confident. However, you inspire me, not just because you're a talented as a RU-vidr, but more how down to earth and honest you are. Can't wait for next month, and have a great pride :D

Hey Tom! Love your videos,and been a great help for me. Just the way your speak open about all your daily problems and success is so good. From a dude with 2 kids(boys) and struggle with depression,add+h ect so can i say that its hard to have kids when you have the «problems» you have. That said,kids can make you reflect about all the problems and see things that you thought was hard is not worth the stress. Dont overthink about it,go with the flow of life😊. Thanks again for sharing the ups and down in your life. Love from norway❤️

The Danish tv-channel TV2 has a program series that called "De sidste ord" (The last words). In this they have interviewed some famous Danish people like actors and politician about their lives. And the interview is only aired when the person is dead. So we don't really know whom has been interviewed before people die.

God I love and enjoy last month so much, as a viewer of Tom for so many years it’s so nice to see him heal and learn about these issues and see how he and others deal with it. I have struggled with a lot of the same issues that he has and I admire this totally normal dude, who has had a good impact on my life, even if people hate him, most of us love ya, keep up the amazing work Tom

You being just some guy is what inspired me, I watched the slaughter of the shapes to orchestral music and your live action shorts and your scripts and jokes in general made me feel like I could be funny (I desperately needed a coping mechanism and comedy was the safest) I write scripts now and I’m very content doing it. Nothings been bought or published mind you but having 50+ scripts ready to go doesn’t feel horrible.

The way you talked about the "long-term thinking" resonates hard with me, and I'm sure a lot of other people as well. I'm sorry you experienced these probably quite scary thoughts but well done for making it through. It's possible to make it through the darkness and seeing the light. Hoping it's my turn soon.

Ok so Tom, I’ll admit to being cringe to you…it was 2012 at Otakon. I came up to you and sung ‘Desmond the Moon Bear’, which I immediately regretted. Just admitting to that is a relief, and if I ever see you at a con again and the opportunity comes up, I’ll buy you a drink

Definitely participating in the Stonewall fundraiser, great idea Tom! Also… I am significantly younger than you but I really resonated with the thoughts on kids. I’ve been doing so poorly mentally for so many years that even considering something so involved and long term as parenting was never in the cards for me. Now I’m in a long term relationship where kids are not the plan, and I finally feel well enough that I could consider it. But, the world around us is so unstable (i also live in the US so, oof) that it’s no longer an option again. I’m not necessarily upset I don’t have them, I’m bitter that I was robbed of the opportunity to make that choice for what I really wanted, not what forces dictated. My parents and theirs may have had hard times, and I don’t want that, but at least the population replicated and continued on. Now, no one wants kids, so there aren’t many, and I can’t blame us. It feels so damning. It’s not like there’s much else to live for anymore; going outside is dangerous again, too. Being yourself is dangerous. Retirement is a joke. Now I won’t even have the opportunity to teach someone else to do better than I did, my mistakes and fear will all just. Die with me. Anyways, see you last week!

I've been watching your content since before I made a RU-vid channel. When I was in school I even downloaded all the adsf movies (all 4 of them at the time 😮). I was a little late to check this one out (About two weeks late) but I want to check in again. Still sober! Still going! And can't tell you how much the conversation about going from surviving day to day to now planning far ahead hits the nail on the head for I think a majority of your audience. I struggled with my mental health since I was twelve years old. And from then until I was 24, I wasn't really living. I was just either struggling to survive moment to moment or floating through months or years at a time. As I treated my mental health and substance abuse issues in this last year and a half, I really have gotten perspective again. I've learned that ability to think about things in the long term. I'm still 'early' in life according to most but there is still that feeling that I lost so much percentage wise of my life. But now I have the chance to spend the rest of it in a better place, with a better me. At least better than I was before, hopefully it'll keep going from here, for better and worse but here's to hoping it's more better than worse.

I'm not on deaths door, but I have recently had much worsening symptoms of ME/CFS or long covid. Due to this I cant leave the house without a wheelchair and can no longer work. Since I have had these symptoms my worldview has changed and I appreciate all the little things. I look into my garden and feel so lucky to be able to experience nature and do some of the other things I love in life. I know Tom said he didn't really want to make it but I personally would love to see that podcast be made.

my parents had me when my dad was 45 and my mum was 42. thomas good sir youre fine. me, my brother, my family have no idea what we're doing and are also currently just living day by day while taking care of my nana. youve accomplished a lot more and made a good impact on people than i and, as depressing as it sounds, most people will ever do. you should be proud of yourself for everything youve done up until this point to where if you do just want to do whatever, do whatever. you deserve your rest. also proud to see your improvement to reacting to hate, long time viewer here and it really has show how much you have grown or even healed to your own self image. have good day

not projecting this onto me, but I've been living on the same thing of not planning a future, living day to day, no real building the future. I've actually been kind of wanting to build stuff back up too the past months. For context i have schizophrenia (and I'm very open about that btw, not dumping any trauma here). I can live ok, just hard to find work, can't do a lot of typical things that come with life. But finding happiness in small things. Anyway, been very happy this series is back. i'm happy you are doing better in life and not letting hate videos or stuff like that get to you. Keep being our "just some guy", much love my dude ^^
