In this video I fabricate the fuel cap cover for the jaguar d type. It is the last external piece that needed to be fabricated for the build.
We are now getting real close to prepping the Jaguar for paint!

This is one of the most beautiful cars I have seen, and probably the most beautiful D Type out there.

What I'm struck most by is how confidently you jump into the forming process - mark a flange, bend over roughly, and then planish to final state. I've realised that I get myself stuck on over-thinking things - "Paralysis by Analysis" - and that you obviously recognise and understand that small faults are part of the process and just need to be worked through. I'm going to hang a sign in my workshop that says "Perfect is the enemy of Good" to remind me that I'm chasing Goodness, not Perfection 😊 Thanks for sharing all of your work Danie - it's quite inspirational.

Those are very wise words. Even I need such a sign in my workshop from time to time. I think that by the time I start hammering away I've gone through the process so many time in my head that the metal simply has to agree with my decision whether it likes it or not🤣🤣 Thanks you!

Ha, "Paralysis by Analysis" is a good one! Another quote to work by (attributed to Sheryl Sandberg) is: "Done is better than perfect".

Nice one Donny! Bet you are really happy😊. To work out how long it took, might be easier to estimate the average amount of hours you spend on the car a week X number of weeks. 20 hours a week = approx 1000hrs a year.

Thank you Boyd. That's probably a much better way to calculate. There's also another (unbillalable?) time spent on such a project and that is research and hours of just looking at the car and figuring out how the next step is going to look🤔😜

@@BroughBuilt absolutely, I forgot that. I did a 150hrs welding new sills on my mx5 (Miata) and I spent most evenings on RU-vid watching other people’s masterpieces and mistakes! You are doing an amazing job!

You make it look so easy. Looking great Danie. Are you planning a modified engine with Weber carbs like the original?
