Here is one of my favorite game soundtracks OF ALL TIME.
This game is also painfully underrated. Will review it one of these days. So sick of seeing people wrongfully negative review it, despite some pretty mixed level design and design choices (like with the switches).
But it's still alot of fun, the weapons are satisfying as hell to use, and the atmosphere is dark and incredible. Also it's got THIS freakin' soundtrack to boast. B) Enjoy! Surprised nobody uploaded an album beforehand.
Thanks to RingsOfGnosis for uploading all these tracks individually. Some of these songs aren't in the game itself, but are in the game files and can be played in the setup option.

Thanks for this! I agree too, this OST is incredible... *Bleak yet haunting; and it does the whole '80s zombie horror vibe **_perfectly._* I found the game itself a bit disappointing though; I mean it's fun and I really like the aesthetics/art direction, atmosphere and gameplay. But lack of any kind of map + huge labyrinthine levels = a lot of frustration wandering around being lost in the latter half of the game.

some of the levels actually had maps plastered on the walls of the game world you could refer to. I liked the idea of that, but it could have been executed better.

@@Demon27248 Yes, but those maps are only in 2 or 3 levels out of what? 12 or 13 total? They only cover a small part of the level too; and since this game is locked at 640x480 resolution they're very difficult to read at all. In a word, useless. Still I have a lot of love for this game despite the serious flaws. The atmosphere is like the best of the dark, gritty 1980s horror from directors like Romero and Fulci. I can forgive a lot of jank and bad design decisions for that kind of vibe.

I actually agree with practically everything you said. I think the game is mostly incredible and severely underrated in almost all categories.. especially the atmosphere, tone, art direction, etc. Creature design is awesome. Music and audio are incredible (aside from some of the zombie woman that scream weird). The creature design rules, everything just reeks of 80s horror and I *adore* it. Even the levels are pretty cool like with the malls and stuff. But yes, it suffers from pretty crushing level design in a not so great way. Lots of repeated envioments make it very easy to get lost when it shouldn't, some of the levels being way too big for their own good without a proper sense of direction or flow, certain buttons that need to be pressed that are either very well hidden or nearly impossible to actually see, etc etc. I think had the levels been more properly balanced and touched up on, the game would've gotten more love. What's even weirder is that while normally in these older FPS games with incredible level design, the sewer levels are always the worst ones. But from what I remember the sewer level in this game was actually one of the better ones in the game. I really wanna do a beefy review on this game one day. It's been on my list for years. So many things to talk about that seemingly no one else has. :P

@@RetroDeathReviews666 Exactly. With some revamped level design (or I'd even settle for just a map system) and getting rid of the awful system where you need batteries to power both flashlight and radar this could've been a classic. The early city levels, the mall, and yes, surprisingly, the sewers were some of the best in the game. Way too big and difficult to navigate, but not the absolutely gigantic, outright mazes like the later areas. Those two lab levels where you escort the robot and find the nuclear grenade tech upgrade took me _FOREVER_ of wandering around lost, out of batteries for the radar, to find where I was going. They are literally just a series of identical white hallways and rooms closed with identically-textured doors and every area looks 100% the same. So easy to get lost or turned around. The 2nd last map with the floating enemies who turn invisible/invulnerable was also a huge pain in the ass to beat due to maze-like areas and unintuitive design (the portal gates etc). It's just such a shame to play what we have and see *what could have been* with maybe a bit more dev time and higher budget... From what I gather Ocean at this time were a British team who did some very well regarded games in the late 80s to early 90s, but by the late 90s when Last Rites was released they had kind of devolved into budget titles. Not much info floating around on this game or Ocean either though. Anyway I've been seeing the OST and occasionally sprites and textures from Last Rites showing up in Doom mods recently. I keep hoping someday we might get some kind of engine port at least where people can expand and improve... I know the LR engine was custom coded in-house by Ocean and the source is likely long gone so there's no improvement or modding likely without a full port.
