It's still working for me lmao, my pc can't go to win 10 so it's stuck until I get a new one. Although, steam isn't going to work next year on windows 7
you can still use local accounts, like i use a local account on windows 11, just you can't create a local account in the setup but latest windows 10 doesn't supports that too

If you can, upgrade to 8.1 and get classic shell, some malware that severely targets windows 8.1 will come out and Microsoft will release an extended support update.
@@hugopereira5640now that windows 11 has been updated out of it's buggy state, it will be defended like windows 10 when an end of life support is announced
Microsoft is one of the most unsuccessful most idiotic company when it comes to software out there. Getting rid of features is something a company should never do. Customization and options are key to technology.
Originally I thought it would be a “windows 7 to 10” deal with me. I fought against upgrading for so long and once I did it wasn’t so bad. But with W11 I immediately downgraded back. The blatant and constant invasion of privacy will definitely keep my from it. I might upgrade if they let us disable all of the spyware mumbo jumbo.
No telemetry, and local accounts and I would consider it. Until you can actually 100% disable telemetry and install with local user accounts I'm not upgrading for anything. If it comes to it I'll go back to using Linux as my gaming OS. Steam has done well enough lately that I wouldn't miss out on much.
@@char7490idk man, it’s really been picking up steam lately. Will linux ever become more popular than windows? Probably not, but with all of the linux projects being made lately more and more people are switching over and thus giving companies more incentive to develop programs for linux. It just takes time.
@@char7490 I can't switch yet because of that very reason, but with valve investing so much into linux, I believe it'll be good by the time windows gets shit
So happy valve is doing so much to make gaming more accesable on linux because no way am i upgrading to windows 11. All valve has to do is improve the compatebilaty more and fix proton for anti cheat
AMD isnt compatible with windows 11 (from experience here) which is a massive issue. Microsoft probably will ignore that support ticket though. Its worse that it lets you update amd use it, but opening any programs will either give an error or crash the whole pc
There's like literally not that much difference between windows 11 and 10, you can make w11 look like 10 in 5 minutes. Wya less than it took you from switching back to w10

Perfect timing for any users that can’t upgrade to windows 11 to keep their current hardware and upgrade to Linux. I have genuinely never felt more free and in control with a computer in my life now that I’ve finally made the switch. There is a learning curve but it is absolutely worth it.
Thats only because linux doesn’t have that much options as windows that it can be run on raspberry pi. Also you can’t really game on linux also linux isn’t simple like windows its only really used by tech coders and tech privacy doomers. Linux is good if your trying to make retro consoles and smart devices though

I’ve been using Windows 11 for a year and a half now, and I’m pretty impressed. I thought Windows 10 would’ve been the better option but that turns out to be false!
I wouldn't be in much of a hurry. I could even expect extended W10 support being announced as we come near to 2025, for a year or two more. That or they officially drop the TPM requirement, many older machines still run just fine for many everyday tasks, and will continue to do so after 2025, and hopefully MS can realize that and just let them keep using W10 for longer.
I don't really care about the TPM requirement personally, for me the deal breaker is no local accounts. They REALLY want you to be forced to sign into a Microsoft account so they can sell all those tasty metrics their collecting to advertisers. Metrics aren't worth anywhere near as much to advertisers if they can't tie them back to specific MS accounts.
Its definitely going to take a lot of convincing for me to go to windows 11 from 10. I hear there's still a lot of gaming performance issues. Id switch to Linux if it weren't for the fact that most of my favorite games arent supported on there and im too lazy to set up a windows VM or installing both Linux and windows on the same system just to play my games.
With the success of Steamdeck fewer and fewer games don't support Linux (or more accurately don't support running in Linux under Proton). It's not available yet (as far as I know) but once Valve releases Steam OS 3 (Holo) you'd be able to install that on your desktop and have a similar experience to what the Steamdeck provides. Won't necessarily help with older games or ones infested with DRM, but for most newer games it should work fine.
@@orclev I do think that the steam deck is promising and all, but I don't care for handheld systems. I bought a switch lite and quite a few games for it 2 years ago, and maybe played it 5 times, but I know if I had the console version, I'd actually play it. I wouldn't be surprised if i had the same situation with the steam deck. Besides, I already have hardware that is more than capable of playing today's games and my bank account is empty 😭
@@justAmood8 you misunderstand. I wasn't saying to get a Steamdeck. Steamdeck is really just a funky form factor laptop. It uses a AMD processor and GPU and aside from the touchscreen and built in gamepad is bog standard PC hardware. The OS is literally a custom Arch Linux install code named Holo. Valve previously made their own Linux distro referred to as Steam OS 1 and 2 based on Debian which you can download and install on any PC. At some point they're supposed to release Holo as Steam OS 3 at which point you'd be able to install that on your current PC.
i have a laptop with Ryzen 5 2500u 8GB RAM and it doesnt support W11, so its a sneaky move to convince (if not push) people to buy new tech every freaking 3 years
I switched to Mint over a month ago and I liked Mint. 14 days later and I switched to Arch. I absolutely love Arch, it works perfectly for me and is incredibly fast, booting in around 10 seconds and shutting down in 5
I switched to 11 and I instantly regretted it, the design is nice and all but a main function that I use all the time is either bugged or removed form 11. When you open a folder and need to put an item in the previous folder, you can’t just drag it to the top and drop it anymore, you need to create a new window, and then have that be the previous folder, and then you can drag the file to the folder, it pisses me off every time I try to use it and then I have to manually find the folder I was in.
Tbh I would probably use Linux or Mac if it wasn't for the whole game situation. Sure, could always setup VirtualBox of something like that, but I'd rather just run my game on the bare metal
