The reason why no one uses Thorgrim is because the resistance skill doesn't hinder the ability of your opponent to cast resurrect and earth elementals, whereas interference does.
Thorgrim can't make the opponent to have 1% chance to cast on you, unlike gissel does with 2-3 easy to get artifacts, opponent can cast on you, but it doesn't worth it and don't do anything.
Lexiav - "i have no idea why people would choose Giselle over Thorgrim apart from his face" Also Lexiav - puts Giselle in S tier and Thorgrim in low A tier :D
Thorgrim's resistance and giselle interference are very different skills. Having no slow cast on you versus 1 turn shield on opponent is the reason why giselle is much better.
You didn't rate Walker, the Texas ranger. Your list is incomplete! P.S.: "Dwarves are useless" ... Gimli would like to have a word with you. You better start running boy. Great tier list, but the he/she were hilarious.
Man, I was saying for years that Mephala was the 2nd best Ranger and I got laughed at cus of it. I"m really glad I found someone else who thinks she's close to Tazar. Keep up the good work!
I think you have to put sharpshooter in S tier in your level 4 creatures tier list because Gelu makes it possible to have a huge stack of them that can kill any unit in the game in 1 shoot.
Does it change anything that Ryland is the best diplo guy out there? Ranger stats end up pretty good usually and leadership is the best skill to ocmbine with diplo because you want to put any army you can get (dwellings, side towns etc.) on your diplo hero to get going. Leadership lets you still win the fights if they don't join, otherwise you could miss morale a couple of times, lose a ton of army and then not be able to join anyone else. He used to be absurd back in SoD. Also, his specialty is actually one of the best, at least when it comes to unit specialties. You don't get much benefit from it in the kind of games you play with monster boxes and conservatories, but if you actually need to build your army, trees are amazing. It is especially important vs necro, allowing you to speed match Galthran's skellies.
Thorgrim is not going to prevent haste on enemy army, Giselle's ability would reduce enemy power to 1 which makes all casts, even friendly ones, really bad.
Thorgrim is not close the being OP. only useful in final battle, and not even that big of a treath. Missing 1-2 spells isn't a big deal amd opponent can cast on himself or elemental.
@@piotrtoborek2442 Well of course, I think lexiav was in talking about the extreme example where the resistance would be so high as to being close to certain. And I counted debuffs among offensive spells, as it is cast on an enemy
@@bjornlepisto1716 Yeah level 30 Thorgrim with 75% Resistance + Some resist items would make it (almost) impossible for enemy hero to use spells directly against Your units. However this Thorgrim would bring (almost) nothing for You in earlier stages - just like Giselle
I don't know what it is with the colour, but Thorgrim always looks like a black man. Which is odd, for the temperate climate of Av Lee. Maybe it would help if I imagine him with a Scottish accent and an eyepatch.
You are probably not reading the comments here, video is pretty old :) Just wanted to point out that you did not mention the second big strength of Ryland apart from him being a diplomacy expert (and he IS the best diplomat in the game, because he has both diplomacy and leadership). His speciality in Dendroids gives them not only attack and defense, but also +1 speed right away (like any unit speciality). But in the case of dendroids it is VERY important. It brings the speed of Dendroid Soldiers from 4 to 5 (like upgraded dwarves), making them viable for bringing in the main army, because they do not slow your hero on the map as much. This speciality brings a unit speed from one group (extra slow) to another (slow), affecting not only the battle, but the strategic map as well.
I love these tier list videos I can't wait for him to start putting these out in English so I can understand what he's saying but I love the enthusiasm keep it up
Rampart has many good heroes especially the ranger. Ryland, mephala and ivor are my fave, respectively. Ryland power level increase if expert diplomacy. Jenova is top sidekick for me. My early game hero
I really love rangers because they have great combined probability on all useful skills. The only class that is more reliable in terms of build is planeswalkers, simply because you have university in conflux.
Gizelle is kinda better than Torgrim because resistance items occupy cloak, boots and necklace slots, and those are a bit more valuable (in terms of items you can put there) than ring, plate and misc slots.
On Giselle vs Thongrim , doesn't Giselle completely lower the enemy leader's power stat? Isn't that objectively better? At first glance it might seem like not much , but if you stack that with items that also grant interference you can make that expert bless wich would have lasted 22 turns last 2 turns instead. Isn't that bonkers? If i'm wrong somewhere please point it out.
of course there is a reasoning , why gisele is preferred..its the issue about the interference skill, that firstly is way more realiabe. secondly its the percentages: on expert levels interference reduces spellpower by 30 % while resistance only offers a 20% failure rate. In theory, there might be a preference over thorgrim as gisele, when both get their working specialty skills to 100%: Gisele would have an opponent with 1 spellpower to throw weak spells, on the other hand thorgrim wouldnt even allow the enemy to cast once. thx for the analysis :P
?? How are dwarves useless? They build huge numbers and are super tanky for a 2nd level creature. Sooooo many scenarios i won due to having 200+ dwarves defending my elves. Also, dwarves + expert teleport.
So many years of playing Heroes, now i have to wonder if Lexiav even played the campaigns, not knowing the BASIC stuff about heroes.... like what GENDER are they? :P The lexiav probably knows every single stat and number, but the lexiav seems to have a problem with genders :P
Ufretin D not S...!!!! S**T list!!!! On the serious side, Throrgrim can be inconsistent, Interference is much more reliable and useful, Imagine someone imploding your Angels for 1000 dmg and resistance not proccing. It is true that resistance CAN be better but it is a really mediocre skill like luck, useful but highly unpredictable, and that is the main reason why nobody used him. Giselle can guarantee that your units will survive but Thorgrim can not.
