Taiwanese scallion pancake beef roll using uncooked flour tortillas instead of scallion pancakes and it turned out way better than expected. Super convenient and easy to make. I think the reason why it works so well is because even though the scallions are not embedded into the tortilla like a regular scallion pancake, flour tortillas do have layers and they do puff up when you cook them. When you roll them up into this type of scallion beef roll all the layers come together with the vegetables and beef the taste and texture is like as if scallion pancakes were used.
Ingredients:
- uncooked flour tortilla
- green onion (scallions)
- english cucumber
- hoisin sauce
- chili oil
- chinese five spice
- salt and black pepper
- thinly sliced beef (shabu shabu style, whatever cut of beef you prefer)
