It feels a little bizarre to be collecting pinecones and firewood while it’s still 35 degrees outside but we wanted to get a headstart on prepping for autumn this year. Its also time to start thinking about our winter vegetables
Enjoy!

Hello. I'm José, Portuguese. For winter you must have Favas ( Fava/ broad bean) and ervilhas ( peas) winter onions. The onions must be seaded and then planted at 15cm apart from each other and keep it without weeds. Love You. God bless you.

Hello from California. I might have missed, but have you considered putting up an above ground pool? Also, a kiddie pool sunk into a hole in the ground is great for the dogs. Both would help so much in the hot weather. Your dogs are so sweet ❤

Oooo, that would be cool if you could show houses for sale in the villages near you. 😉

Over the winter, look for light/white sheets in resale shops or really cheap material. During the summer you can use them for shade cloth for the more fragile veggies by placing sticks into the ground and draping the sheets over the top, leaving the bottom open for airflow. (if long enough, you can bend the stick back into the soil to form a curved shape over the garden then place the sheet on top). Tomatoes look amazing! Great idea to grow spinach in a pot, you can always shift them to the shade if it gets too hot for them.🪴💖

@@robine916 I think the shade cloth isn’t to expensive in the agriloja shops tbh I think next summer we will get some. I thought next to the house the kale would be protected from the afternoon sun but seems like the morning sun is just as bad 😅

@@TheSunnySaudadeProject It's sort of a game as to where things will grow! 🙂I grew an abundance of garlic last year, but I can't seem to grow onions no matter what I try, LOL. This year I just grew tomatoes with basil in between to see if it truly prevents the tomato hornworm...so far it so good, no munched leaves💖

@@robine916 yh we did that. Our tomato have seemed to be pest free compared to many other plants 😊 next year… basil and chives everywhere 😂

Maybe once Ella is spayed she will be less likely to want to run off. Here in Florida we don't have much luck growing stuff in the summer heat and humidity. Also bugs get to them before we can. Have quit trying. I always look forward to your videos.

Nice start of wood piling 😅, does this corner have some humidity when it rains ? If so, you must put something beneath the wood so it stay dry.

I hope you’re okay Earthquake that happened last night or early hours this morning I felt when I was down in Lisbon three years ago and I didn’t know till that point that Portugal is known for earthquakes, but only little ones that you don’t always feel under your feet one day I was in Lisbon and I felt very dizzy and like I was going to fall over my body was going up and down it felt really weird. Then I found out from somebody it was an earthquake 😮 take care 😊

@@TheGoodlifeoffgrid yh was a bit spooky. Carlos slept through the whole thing 😂 must be used to it haha. everything is all good though it wasn’t as bad up here in the mountains. I thought it was a train heading towards us but then it never passed us and the bed started to rock a bit and Ellah went a bit crazy. I just thought I was a bit tired and imagens the whole thing and went back to bed haha
