I love this movie, it totally deserved that Best Picture Oscar. As per usual, Jack Nicholson (my favorite currently living actor) made me smile. Although I was not a fan of Shirley MacLaine beforehand (I had seen her in "The Apartment", "Oceans Eleven", and "Bernie" before this one) I loved her in this one. And let's not forget about Debra Winger.
@@MisterBourgolini Ya know, I seem to recall hearing that about Winger being a pain to work with during this movie, as well. I hadn't heard that, however, about her enjoying her time alongside Nicholson; I hadn't heard anything one way or the other, so that's nice to hear. I think their friendship certainly comes through in this film.
@@Jim_L Shirley MacLaine admitted in her Oscar speech that she enjoyed working with Jack Nicholson. Then Jack Nicholson paid tribute to MacLaine years later. I think they are friends.
All I have to say is everyone that was a part of the cast in this movie truly belong in the cast in this movie AND the song was an icing on the cake For their top tier performance!!
one of my favorite scenes - I saw this film in Houston when it was released in 1983 where much of it was filmed - spent a lot of time in the Village near Rice University growing up on Nottingham and Tangley streets - remembering Alfred’s Delicatessen and World Toy and Gift Shop
