Waleska and Efra, you are actually watching three generations of singers in this video. Although they are different in age, they share in their passion for soul and R&B. Jaya's (pronounced Jaia) unofficial title is "Soul Diva," JR's is Prince of R&B, while Jason (the youngest of the trio) is Prince of Soul. Jaya made it big in the 80's by introducing Filipino audiences to the "soul" sound while singing OPM (Original Pilipino Music) which is distinctly Filipino in its tendency to romanticize love and sentimentality. JR hit it big in the late 90's - early 2K's when there was an invasion of sorts of Filipino-American talents, bringing in the the R&B vibe which was overwhelmingly popular at the at that time. Jason was the winner of the Voice Philippines about 5 or 6 years ago, and rose to fame through his soulful and R&B approach to singing (and of course, his killer falsetto). All three are solo artists, although sometimes you get see them collaborating in a Sunday variety show ("ASAP" on ABS CBN Kapamilya Channel), or when they do concerts together. "Officially Missing You" premiered on social media in advance of their joint concert "Soulja" in 2018. All three are amazing solo artists who are open to collaborations (like BUDAKHEL). I totally agree with your assessment that this "collab" captured a very special moment. Props to everyone involved. Thank you for spotlighting Filipino talents.

Jaya’s mom is a well known comedienne, and an excellent jazzer. She actually grew up with music around her!

You're correct, Jaya is a seasoned singer. She released an album in the US back in the 80s or 90s.

You both are my best reactors right now. I really appreciate your convos. It is refreshing to hear your inputs especially coming from artists yourselves. And, I also appreciate how you acknowledge the sound engineers, the guitarists, pianists, and the other musicians involved in the production. Most of the reactors left these people out and they deserve recognition too as they are equally as important and as talented as the singers.

What’s good in the Philippines is that everytime there will be new know singers they’ll be given NEW title so there will be no like competition against Filipino Singers. Every and all singers in the Philippines are being acknowledged on their own and was given TITLES. You dont compare them with each other because they have different voices and techniques and struggles.

Filipino singers love to sing sitting down. Isn't that awesome?!!! It just shows how powerful their vocals are. World class!
