In this Stu's Corner I take you through my assessment process for a weightlifter complaining of wrist and lower arm soreness.
This client had all the classic symptoms of golfer's elbow: tenderness in the wrist flexors, tension on stretch and at the attachment points, which was worst when they brought the bar into clench prior to lifting it overlead.
After replicating this client's movements, I realised what was actually happening was they were unable to get their lats into position. Apparently, the client had started cross-training, which had overloaded their lats, which in turn meant their wrists were taking the load of the bar instead of their lats.
