Laughter in Danish Parliament as the Prime Minister explains about the situation of their buy of Elephants from Circus after a ban was introduced. English subtitles
Actually this is silly and has nothing to do with the life or death issues the Danish Parliament is deciding in these strange times of Covid 19, which we are all hopefully surviving through...
For context: The woman is the Danish Prime (State) Minister This matter is about the ban of exotic circus animals. The elephants were owned by the circus and after the ban the state had to purchase them. The discussion however is about if the camel (Ali) should be bought as well with the elephants since it’s besties with one of the elephants (ramboline) and it would be a shame to not have them together lmao
It's a genuine concern for elephants tbh, they have very strong social bonds and losing their companions is psychologically on par with humans losing their lived ones. It's detrimental to the animals wellbeing, which was the reason for the circus ban in the first place!
@@jimmybags6598 Politicians where i live are people that you would meet in the local grocery store, buying the same products as you do. You must live in an unfortunate place.
@@Schdcdd Instead of mocking the commenter, you could try awake some discussion. People who have lost faith in democracy arent some tiny marginal group that can be fully ignored. In Finland I find it so dangerous, that both Left and right wingers have started talking against democracy, "due its so slow and unefficinient way to change politics" Its dangerous developement.
@@jimmybags6598 is that why wealth inequality and homelesness rates are so low in Denmark? Sure, some countries are like you described, but don't bother trying to find examples in the EU
it was because the parliament had made a law that outlawed certain animals in circus, such as elephants. Therefore they became illegal to own, but the parliament decided to purchase the elephants to compensate the former owners for their economic investment :)
@@UwU-yu6cg Nothing of substance or value is ever talked about in American politics. Just corrupt pocket stuffers who only care about staying in office.
To be fair its not trivial, we banned animals in circus, which then meant we compensated the circus's , and bouth the animals to release in some natural park. But when its in parlement it just sounds so stupid and even the parlement couldnt stop laugh about how stupid it sounds :) I love my country :)
Danish people are just nice and cool, dude. I bet even with serious matter they would approach it kindly in the parliament. And they say danish are cold and serious - nop, it's the other way around...
@@leejamiemellor Yes Denmark is Scandinavian. There's other countries like Finland where if you're being pedantic they're technically not Scandinavian, they're Nordic. But in English you often call the Nordic countries Scandinavian. I don't see a problem with it.
If goverment is about to cause some serious ecomomical problems to certain sectors, its natural to talk about it. In Finland Green activists boycoted a rescue aquarium out of business, so Finnish politicians had to talk about seperating dolphins. (I find it so sad. but not going in details of case itself)
And this isn't question time, it's her state of the union speech, which constitutionally is the first one in the parlamentary year (right after electing the speaker).
She took a maybe overexagerated precautionary measure because she felt that lives were at stake. She would be ridiculed no matter which choice she made. Comparing her to that of a nazi shows a deep lack of understanding as to what that means.
Matters of the US parliament: Let´s separate immigrant children from their parents! Matters of the Danish parliament:: We can´t separate the elephant Ramboline from her best friend, the camel Ali!
Those “immigrant children” are already separated from their parents...hence the name unaccompanied juveniles. Should the Americans release children to the street or be forced to pay for all the expenses related to child care? The only ones separated from the parent is when the parent is a convicted criminal like a child molestia or drug trafficker trying to use a child to get back into the united states

@@srikanthshastry4546 what democracy? the only "democracy" we have in Denmark is every 4 years, where we throw our vote. there are no "law" or "rule" that prohibit a politician to back down on promises made in the election campaign. So when voting is over it is not uncommon to see politicians doing the opposite of what they promised their voters. That ain't democracy.
I hear you all, laughter will not solve world peace nor will it heal the world.. every now and then a glimpse of humanism comes through when that contagious reaction called laughter brings us all together, especially as the world has been a very dark place recently. 'Love and laughter makes jack a far less dull boy....'
There are some fairly old politicians sitting there, so when it comes to the average age of politicians in parliament, I don't think Denmark is the winner. But our politicians are peaceful by most standards, and what I appreciate more is that they can actually collaborate across party-lines (both with parties on the "same side of the isle" and on the other side) :-) Although Danes trash-talk our politicians and trust has gone a bit down, we still trust our politicians more than in most other countries.
And we have an open government, meaning your could have been there, the poplic can go inside and hear the government work, heavy control of course, and no comments is allowed, but open😁
Honestly m8, i think this is the first time in my life i seen the parliament react like this... Its pretty unusual even in Denmark. Usually its just bitch fight over words.
@@Mostly3swithfriends Nope. The word Parliament is a British word. Ever heard of the queens parliament? I assume you're referring to the ancient Greek oligarchies as parliamentary system which is incorrect.
Man, when I was a kid I used to think that Finland was too small for me, that I wanted to live in the US because everything's so big and great and amazing there and everything cool comes from the US. Well, then I grew up, I got into politics and human rights and as someone who consumes a lot of Northern American media, especially American, I realized that things are so much better here that moving over there would be the worst thing I could do to myself and my future unless I have a company that does well. Then I'd have a chance to be one of the filthy rich.
Ofcourse we complain, you always think your situation could be better, but I wouldn't personally move away from northern Europe. First of all it is my ancestral home, and second of all it is a lovely part of the world to live in, and I feel fortunate to be born and raised here.
I would like to raise another point. There are a lot of vidoes on RU-vid comparing and contrasting different countries and it can sometimes get to a place that is pretty toxic. 'This country is better at... than this one' becomes 'this country is better then this one'. You can't think like that, it gives xenophobic people more statistics to use as arguments for hate. The value of cultures shouldn't be defined by it's GDP or homocide rate.
stop. This video might have been uploaded recently, but the date of recording is ages ago. all those things you mention are topics brought up in debates.
@@domsjuk who do you think put in your head the idea of anti-vax people r crazy and only a minority and lacking education? dont u think that this is an intentional thing? like planting the term "conspiracy theorist"?
@@sohibmohamed9548 I can only speak of my home country and to some extent the rest of Europe and other countries I know well. And at least here, these people are the minority (which current statistics of Covid vaccinations and my own experience working sideline in the med field, where I'm confronted with this topic on a daily basis, show among other things). There is of course a difference between the hardcore anti-vaxers and those just skeptical or anxious about vaccines, which is much more prevalent (either way, talking to them made me realize the reasons for their opposition is almost exclusively misunderstanding and just poor knowledge of things behind it. I believe some of them that they try to read and get informed, but they are often bad at checking sources and distinguishing different qualities of info). Now, the paradoxical and frankly infuriating thing about the former group is that they actually tend to be relatively educated (and relatively rich and relatively female), which probably makes them even more staunch in their stupid beliefs. Often they follow some dogmatic spiritual ideology, and they don't understand and often don't care about medical statistics, chemistry etc. even though most of them would be dead without all that, and people die because of their ignorance. The mother of a friend is such a person, relatively educated and successful in life, but nothing less than an esoteric nutcase, who lives in a make-belief world in that regard. She's been to Africa several times and you need certain mandatory vaccinations, e.g. against yellow fever, which is a relatively harsh one... she didn't blink an eye, as it stood in her way of traveling and getting spiritually enriched there, but she prevented her child from getting any of the recommended vaccinations and is staunchly against Covid-vaccines. She's a fucking hypocrite and an idiot, despite her status. And her circle of like-minded friends is no different. These people are the reason why we still have to care about measles, which had been basically eradicated here decades ago, and no doubt it's getting worse. Still they are small, but they echo loudly though social media (which is why I prefer not to promote the topic even further myself) and catch a lot of the naiver share of the latter group nowadays.
The government/ all parties had past a law that prohibited wild animals in circus. They therefor offered (all the parties agreed) to buy them and replace them in wild life park or a zoo. So the prime minster is just informing how is going with the deal the made.
Okay, 1) the Danish g0vernment wants to force untested v@ccines and v@ccine p@ssports on Danish citizens, just like the US administration. 2) The quarantine restrictions (over a completely f@bricated bird floo) were even more damaging and restrictive than the US ones, depending on the state. So many small businesses and shops had to close in Denmark. Do you want me to continue? Or just rant endlessly about how fantastic cycle lanes are etc.?
Now for some Americans who perhaps missed one of the jokes, as it'd be weird for non danes to be privy to this. Near the end when the prime minister referenced the "Ny Borgelige" keeping support for the Camel. They're a quite right wing party who's anti immigration so that particular joke was a light hearted jab at them.

@@orangedingo1619 Errr... This is a complicated question. As i see it, theres a big difference between an individual, and a very large group of people. A single person cannot affect any society greatly, neither culturally or economically. A single person can be nice or naughty, can contribute or vacuum to/from the society (and anything in between). A single person can be dealt with. A large group of people however has another effect. And true, i and many other native danes, have a concern for our old, fine danish culture, and for the economy aswell, as result of huge immigration. But this person, Indadeeq Mahmud, is grateful for what he has experienced in Denmark. I really appreciate to hear that! And why shouldnt i? Thats genuine and very nice of him to say that.
@@hannehansen7214 well your words confirm my statement. I definitely understand concerns with huge immigration..there is always some logic behind it. While i totally understand them i do not necessarily agree with them, not from moralistic point of view. In a pragmatic world the concern is always about the who comes first. Mahmud is grateful as a person who got a chance which is pretty good and some how expected. It still does not change the fact the Denmark is one of the most if not the most anti-immigration country with strict sometime inhumane rules when it comes to foreigners and asylum seekers Sweden for me is a country that started to witness the effect of pragmatism and there is a growing feeling against immigrants. It is sad to see this spread everywhere around the world. I had little faith in humanity. In love. And it saddens me to see it diminish slowly.
