Great job Drew! So, something I wonder..........how often does a 2, or 3, man break out front actually last? It seems that they always get reeled back in eventually, except that one of Ferg (if I remember right, forgive me if I'm off on that). Regardless, I guess I more wonder the point of breaking away from the pack, as a 2, or 3, man group, if it never seems to last. It seems that the strategy you utilize here is the best way to go and makes the most sense, instead of breaking out.
Yea. Very good point. You’re right, that breaks don’t often work but they do work in certain circumstances and any time you can narrow your competition before the finish the better. Especially if you lack a serious sprinter like we do.
There’s also strategy behind it as well because it makes the race harder so teams have to use matches to pull back break aways they don’t like, which is a good thing as well. Tiring out your competition before the finish.
@@DrewDillmanChannel The tiring out your competition, is one thing I thought about a couple hours after I posted that, but wasn't sure if that's what it was. I seem to recall you mentioning that in another race video, that if you're confident in your conditioning, attacking can make others work harder, and possibly wear them down. Or something to that affect. I'll be honest, I'm way more into mountain biking, but after finding your videos a month or 2 ago, I'm starting to watch more CRIT, Gravel and Road races. So much strategy involved, I'd never even thought of. I like it! Coincidentally, I've been saddling up on the gravel bike even moreso because of these videos. Lol Have a good weekend Mr. Drew!
@billkallas1762 I’ve started riding outside this week. But before that I was just doing 1-2 hours in the trainer. Didn’t really want to do any more than that on the trainer.
