The reason why you see lots of mineral sunscreen is because it doesnt contain harmful chemicals that can damage the coral reefs! Hawaii banned a sunscreen ingredient called oxybenzone which was shown to damage coral reefs and was prevalent in a lot of chemical sunscreens, so thats why you see a lot of mineral ones which dont contain it. Need to protect the ecosystems that make Hawaii beautiful 🌺

That type of mineral sunscreen doesn't kill coral reefs. Hawaii was the first to ban (2021) a lot of market sunscreens that contain oxybenzone. I keep my passport, soc sec and birth cert in a small fireproof save. I also keep some extra cash and insurance stuff there. Piece of mind. Great video BTW!

I have a safety deposit box where we keep important documents. Actually, I really like that I don’t have to search around for passports, birth certificates, etc. I always know where they are.

Several years ago- I was reading an article that Hawaii was going to ban non-mineral sunscreen as it was negatively impacting the sea life. To preserve it; they were introducing mineral sunscreen as the only option on the islands to help stop the possibility harmful byproducts in normal sunscreen being used and lessen the negative impact to the sea life.

I bought a file holders from Office Depot that stores all important documents. It's has sections that you can label and it's awesome. I keep all Tax, Birth Certificate, Insurance Documents & Large Purchase Receipts in this. Wonderful Investment, it's like 30 bucks.

Hawaii looks beautiful, I could sit and watch that sea view right now after months of cold & rain. I'm sure you could find a list online, there's certain important documents recommended you keep together, either in a protected folder or case/safe or some people have a 'grab bag' in case of emergencies. A document I'd recommend not commonly spoken (more so in true crime communities) about is a 'if I go missing folder' you can find free templates online, very useful in case of incapacity or death too- sounds a lot when your young I know. It's a real eye opener if you read through questions how much info we are in control of and making it accessible in emergencies by trusted people & the hoops others would need to go through or not ever gain access. You then leave a copy of completed forms in a sealed envelope with someone you trust.

Mineral sunscreen is reef safe and the only legal option in Hawaii now woohoo! Not all mineral sunscreen leaves a white cast though - bliss tinted sunscreen is AMAZING and leaves no white cast, sun bum also has a good mineral sunscreen that you can rub in well

I have birth certificate and Social Security card inside a long wallet that also has cash. Wallet is in a big over the shoulder with extra phone charger, undergarments, feminine hygiene, socks and few other things. It’s inside of bench seat by the door (not in view) in case I have to leave the house ASAP (like a fire). Both exits are close to each other (front door and balcony). I’ve done this since 2012…. Long story but it’s a good idea. It’s place where never need to be moved and know where it is.

Mineral sunscreen is so much better for your skin, They are safer for marine life, including fish and coral reef.

For future reference, most stains will come out right away if rinse them in cold water. 👍🏻

Hi Monica, great video! I wonder why you don't collect hotel points...? (or do you?😄) works like flying... my husband is a Hilton Diamond Member. For example, we always get upgraded to a suite at the Waldorf Astoria and have breakfast included. Now we want to switch to Marriott Bonvoy because we like the Ritz Carlton so much.... 😍 You pay for a room and get an upgrade without paying 1k for a night... for frequent travelers it is worth it....

Mineral sunscreen soooo much better than chemical for you!! It is not chemical reaction to UV so the mineral shield can sustain for a long time to provide consistent protection. Also chemical sunscreen is essentially chemical reaction to UV, it produces heat. So it burns my face every time I wear chemical sunscreen in the sun. Mineral sunscreen also safer for your body because some of the chemicals in chemical sunscreen stays in the body (allegedly, but whether the effect is harmful is unknown). So babies and pregnant people should only use chemical sunscreen. Finally, it’s Better for environment, in my opinion.
