Hi Uncle. The torque for petrol engine peaks after 4000 rpm typically, whereas the electric motor gives max torque immediately when it starts turning. The discrepancy in torque (and HP) is probably due to these 2 systems peaking at different stages. It would actually be good for car companies to give us the torque curve for both the petrol engine and the electric motor to give buyers a better picture.
