@@DantheBigMan77 Ashley can pronounce Mjolnir just fine. She says the full name when Sam asks what it is and the pronunciation is perfect. Travis would be proud.
I can’t believe he didn’t ask any good follow up questions about the dice. We know someone like Laura MUST have a different situational use for each die
I remember when her and Travis were at a con and many years ago and she said her goal was to have as many dice as Will Wheaton who she said had BARRELLS of dice.
@@givemedeath5801 my happy place is a small cottage where an elderly Ashley Johnson bakes me cookies and tries to connect with me by telling me about hashtags and reminding me of that one time when I was 9 and she took me to see the Thor movie
*@user-ty5zt8yp4x --* Fun Critical Role trivia... One of Laura Bailey's (Imogen Temult) topmost favorite sweet treats/snacks are doughnuts/donuts; however, she rarely has them during CR-sessions, due to the potential mess(es) they can make. This also goes to show how well Matt Mercer knows Bailey. As for playing Dungeons & Dragons, it depends upon whether you can find a good group of people to play with, ideally with other new Players such as yourself. _"Liam, thanks for introducing me to Dungeons & Dragons."_ _"Do you like it?"_ _"I'm...I'm beginning to like it."_ --Sam Riegel (Scanlan Shorthalt) & Liam O'Brien (Vax'ildan); *[CR 1x114 - "Vecna the Ascended"]* (air-date: 10/05/2017)
@@SleepyBookworms-- A simple question that requires a lot of answer(ing). Nonetheless, I will try to give you a good/thorough answer... *:)* 1.) *_D&D Edition(s)_** --* Critical Role plays in *D&D 5th Edition* [2014 to (present 12/2023)], having begun in with *[CR Campaign #1 - Vox Machina (2015-2017)].* - a.) *Past -* Unless you have the personal preference (&/or excessive wealth) to do so, it is not generally not worthwhile to invest in past D&D Editions as a first-timer. - b.) *Future -* Hasbro-WotC (Wizards of the Coast) is supposed to come out with a new D&D edition in 2024. However, not even the title of the next D&D edition has not been finalized ("One D&D", "D&D 2024", "VD&D", etc.) as of yet (12/2023). - c.) *Present -* I would say the best choice/recommendation at this current time (12/2023) would be *_D&D 5th Edition,_* as D&D 5th Edition is the most current, established, and widespread. Also, by playing with the current (D&D 5th) edition, you can also better learn, understand, and appreciate what is played though in-session with Critical Role for [CR Campaigns #1 - #3]. 2.) *_Dice_** --* A relevant factor, given the video-Short... *;)* - a.) *Dice Set -* A standard dice-set for most TT-RPGs (TableTop RolePlaying Game) consists of a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, & a d20. Other greater-faceted dice (d20+) are purely thematic/gimmicky, thus usually not worth to have/use except by personal preference. Could you buy a "d100" dice? Sure. Or you can use 2d10 (with one d10 representing the 'tens' number) more easily/cheaply. - b.) *Minimum(s) -* At the _'bare bones'_ functional minimum, you should have *2x* sets of dice. - c.) *"Optimum(s)" (note "quotations") -* _Very_ broadly speaking, for dice-ownership and -use, *6x* dice-sets is the _"low"_ optimum range, with *10x* dice-sets in _"high"_ optimum range. - d.) *"Maximum(s)" (again, "quotations") -* As Laura Bailey (Imogen Temult) has shown in this video-Short, there is no _"maximum"_ to how many dice-sets one can have and use. Bailey has had up to *>16
@@pendrake40 thanks for the wonderful informed tip ☺️ now I'll just have to find a decent group, I have a rough idea of a character though only so far have their personal arc involve building trust and social connections with the party which I'd involve an awkward attempt to comfort a member but accidentally whack instead of a soft pat on the back (think of a fancy looking automaton getting used to being not in a stiff servant environment). Not sure on what class though.
In case anyone forgot, Ashley was in the first avengers movie. She was one of the civilians in the Battle of New York. And she just called Mjolnir, “Meow meow” 😂😂😂
@@TinyDeath66 I don’t remember who saved her character but it’s possible it was Cap. She shows up again as someone being interviewed on the news about the battle at the end of the movie.
@@captin3149 That's one way to do it, but using your character's favorite color makes sense because grabbing a new dice set for every session can cause a headache you don't want.
It brings me so much genuine joy to hear Ashley call Mjolnir “Mew Mew”. She cares about everything she’s been in, and to hear her not only reference the MCU but our queen and savior Darcy Lewis?! Blessed.
Funny enough, he was one of the Frost Giants in that movie, too! Got himself a knee injury because he was had to land on his knees from a really high jump.
I love Laura Bailey's setup. Even got the iced coffee there. What I wouldn't give to have a job that makes me show up every Thursday to D&D religiously.
this is a conversation I have with my friends all the time. They ask if I have enough dice, yet, and I show them all the dice still on my wishlist. NOT ENOUGH!
Of course there are those fancy folk whose dice are all in sets. More than half of mine have no set to belong to. I run a rescue shelter for orphan dice
I completely feel her. Just bought my first set of a 6 different dice colors to play with friends and all of them look so amazing. And now we got everything we need to play and i still want more fancy dices 😂
Not enough is the prefect answer. I don't have not enough. I love and kind of envy theirs lol the crystal ones are so awesome and pretty. i have dice at home that are over twenty years old, the edges are rounded off from use.
man I love Laura Bailey she's painfully gorgeous and has a great sense of humour, she's 1 of my fav people ever she's awesome wish I could meet her, she's 1 hell of an actress
Those dice are very pretty, as are the wooden holders, I just could never it's so inefficient time and space wise. I love my dice bag. Got it when I just had 3 sets, and now that I have 7 or so whatever I'm up to it still has more room. It'll hold my dice for the rest of my life even if/when I get more. That plus a nice foldable flap stap leather dice tray its all I need.
