I heard Celine Dion's version millions of times. Shes incredible until I encountered Laura's version. Laura blows away Celine Dion. Laura's vocal range is off the chart and far more powerful and has far more depth/soul to her vocal. Very rare talent. RIP Laura!!

I just discovered Laura about thirty minutes ago and i have heard other versions but i have to admit, I think Laura's version is far superior to the others. I'm still in awe.
Luara's version of this song on Solid Gold TV show is even stronger than this version .I know Jennifer Rush is the original artist of this song but Laura's version is my favorite.
Notice she doesn't rely on the vocal tricks that other singers employ..she just hits the upper range and then holds the notes and carries the tune so powerfully that she crushes it... she just makes me cry out Jesu Krist, !! what a voice,.. I have heard her sing this song so many times and still keep coming back for more....miss you Laura..RIP.... what I'd give to be able to see you live today.. !!!
Such a tragedy for this lady. Her husband ended up dying in 1994 and then she died of a brain aneurysm in 2004 ten years later. I saw her at a concert 2 years before she died...she didn't look anything like she does here and there was only more than a handful in the audience...It was soul destroying for such a magnificent artist. Self-control is my favourite, the way she sings that gives me goosebumps and reminds me of my youth...RIP Laura, you were magnificent x
In recent years she had serious health problems. Particularly following an accident which broke his legs. She was incredible and she had two angels watching over her: her husband and her mother. Unfortunately her husband had died and her mother had a variant of Alzheimer's disease. She no longer had anyone to protect her. Now she is in heaven with her two angels, probably singing them an Irish ballad.
There are moments in this song when Laura's schooled voice is giving my goosebumps. This is a "sit down, close your eyes and dream away you were there". Joey - Thank you for sharing this master piece

JENNIFER RUSH BEST 1 !!! Брэнинг не тянет эту песню вообще и срывается голос не хватает воздуха ! голос то чистый где то нестабильный с примесью причем она не получила 1 место а получила Раш и Селина ! и даже Селина так же плохо тянет эту песню все эти кавер версии не сравнятся с оригиналом !
Gone down a Laura Brannigan video rabbit hole. I loved her voice so much and had a huge crush on her. One of the best voices ever! Gives me chills even now.
She may be the best female singer ever. I listened to 4 other top singers of this song. They were good but no comparison to Laura. I saw her in concert once and it was amazing. I was stunned when she passed away. We are so fortunate to have many videos.

It’s so sad she died so young. Like 52. Karen carpenter died at 32. Miss both of them. She had a powerful voice miss them. At least we have their recordings.
