I have listened to this song by Céline, Jennifer Bush but Laura's version makes me believe that she understood soul music, from the heart, she held nothing back in this song.❤❤❤
I will soon be 79 and have listened to many bands,artists . Laura's rendition of the power of love makes me feel the emotions of one person pouring out their soul to one that has taken possession of their heart and saying yes to one of the most powerful feelings that we as humans will ever know.
1978, The first time I saw her, I was 32 years old and deployed in Germany. She was on German tv. All the duds went crazy, Laura Branigan, young and beautifull and an amazing voice. 1985 juli 11th, remembered the day, it was our 15th wedding ann, me and my wife experienced her concert at the Six Flags Jackson, New Jersey . Wow, what a performance. She grew older but even more atractive to watch and still that powerful voice. Her skills on the piano and the rendition of The Power Of Love make my wife grab her tissues. 1990, Atlantic City, I witnessed the best performance ever from Laura Branigan but without my wife, she passed away a year ago. With her emotional Power of Love on stage this time it was me searching for tissues. 2004. RIP Laura Brannigan. Forget Madonna, Beyonce and all those other clods. You outcast them all with your talent. 2020. I’m 74 yrs old now but still get my eyes wet watching your vids and remembering my wife.

I adore her (and this comes from a heavy metal guy). And her version of this song absolutely buries Celine, Air Supply, Jennifer, and anyone else that sang it.
Céline, Jennifer and Laura all had incredibly strong versions of this song. What I love about Laura’s version is the slight raspiness to her voice and the immense emotion that she brings. There’s a slightly rockier feel to it, yet she nails every note with complete precision. Amazing.
Laura started with Key G and shift to G# and taking all the souls of her fans with jaw dropping notes. Jennifer Rush's music video version was sang with Key A it was really good one I think, except her movement with the music was a little funny or she may shy with camera. Her six minutes album version was awesome and that's why "The Power Of Love" is the becoming the textbook of how to sing a song with heart and soul. And she is also the song writer and she is the boss. But album version was sang with Ab key. I don't really like Celine Dion version as I was already mesmerized by Laura and Jennifer and feel like Celine is so fake in this song.

I was born August 28, 1980: just turned 43. I have heard so many versions of this song: Andre Bocceli and Sarah Brightman, Russel Watson and Sarah Brightman, Marcelito Pomoy, etc....This version is such a powerful ballad epitomizing the sound of the '80s, when I was made.... Thank you!
With respect to Celine, Laura absolutely crushed this. This is the best version of this song I have ever heard. I listen to it about once a year and it never lets me down. She was taken from us way too young. One of the absolute most underrated vocalist of all time in my opinion. RIP Laura

Actually, that information is wrong. They had to make a correction of her obituary because there were several things wrong with the facts. She was 52 when she died, not 47. She also is best described as having grown up in Armonk, New York, and not Brewster, as the AP's original obituary said.

Take Whitney Houston's version of I Will Zlways Love You. In my opinion she ruined it with her marbles, but for many they consider it the definitive version. I believe even Dolly Parton likes it.

I recall her interview when she described this song and at least one other that blasts to her mind hitting all high or low notes and was an overwheming personal feeling. In the 1980s I loved her songs and voice on car radio, but never saw her other than still photos. After 2010 til now when her old videos finally hit my internet. Wow, she will now show me what a talent she was. Just a 78 year old belated fan.

She had a great voice . She died in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York, on August 26, 2004. The cause was attributed to a previously undiagnosed ventricular brain aneurysm. a great singer , i will never forget........ rip.
