This video is marvelous and perhaps unique. Mr Gene P Bissell, music teacher at Byram Hills High School, was giving Laura private auditions though Laura was shy. Laura then performed as "Baba" in the school musical "The Pajama Game", directed by Mr Bissell. Laura graduated 1970 and moved to New York and the academy. She was already granted a place to the academy, and Byram Hills paid for her time at the academy. She graduated from the academy 1972, and the rest is history. Those pictures from the academy was a big surprise to see, though they has a rule of not giving out any information about their former or today alumni.
This was from the series "Start of Something Big" with Steve Allen dated July 13, 1985. Thanks for posting. Very interesting to see after over 3 decades.
I still get nerves, however my Choir Director tells me she still gets nerves too. She gives me courage & makes sure that I'm fully ready before I sing. A couple of months ago I sung one of my favorite songs "As The Deer" I didn't get much sleep the night before, All I remember is singing the first line. I blacked out, but my Choir Director & others tells me I sung it perfectly & that I did a good job. I plan to sing again in the next couple of months. Thanks for asking. Peace be w/ you.
I don't think this is what people should live by, "do whatever it takes". That sounds a little desperate to me not to mention what is "whatever"? I don't like the sound of that, sounds very crazy and desperate. You have to keep your dignity and self respect and not hurt others either.
Correction: Laura was born in 1952 (not 1957). She was 52 when she died. Her "people" had originally put out press releases with an erroneous birth year when she first came on the scene. They were afraid that 30 sounded too old for a breakout artist and basically lied. It wasn't until years after Laura's death that a few fans did some deep research and identified her correct birth year as 1952.
Meade Skelton I was in contact with IMDb earlier this year about their wrong information they had about Laura. After some conversation by email and Facebook, IMDb updated Laura's real birth to 1952, March 17 this year. facebook.com/LauraBraniganForever/photos/o.391763117500403/956025091074200/?type=3&theater . Laura wasn't always polite with her age to media. At last it became 5 years off, but the problem was that some, (Laura or media) must have forgotten that little Brother Billy was also born in 1957, Feb 28 to be exactly. But 1957, became 1961 so it would fit in Laura's strange timeline. So when I found Billy's birth notice in the local paper 1957, it was a real breakthrough. Scroll down, left Born yesterday and BRANIGAN chappaqua.advantage-preservation.com/document/patent-trader-1957-03-14-page-7. So Case closed! Visit Facebook for more rare pictures, old newspapers, wedding pictures from December 1978, etc. Curiousa.. Branigan - Kruteck's marriage license was #22691 and issued April 1979 by David N Dinkins. facebook.com/LauraBraniganForever
Sometimes she was a bit much when singing, to loud and yelly like. I wonder if she was still alive today how she would have reacted w/ most of todays trashy mysic. I think she would have been a good mentor on The Voice and American Idol.
I always find it funny when people say, "I am a shy person", but I can stand in a stage with hardly any clothing on, really idiotic to say such silly things.
