Cerys Matthews just played some beautiful readings of Laurie Lee intertwined with music, along with interviewing a group who are touring with a similar performance, on her BBC Radio 6 Sunday programme. Fabulous!
My friend lives in Slad, and when I suggested we go to The Woolpack pub they said it's very expensive for what you get because of Laurie Lee tourists, and they didn't want to go there, so I ignored what they said and dropped in by myself for a sandwich at lunch, but the woman at the bar said in a snobby way that they don't do sandwiches and wouldn't give me a menu to show what they do sell as said they're fully booked, when all the tables inside were empty, apart from a couple of people sitting at the bar, and many tables empty outside too. Then I followed my friend's recommendation to go to The Royal George in Birdlip and it was much nicer.
