The day has arrived. We are putting on our game-faces and clutching talismans for fortune. We salute Vulcan’s Anvil as we paddle by and give Odin’s Eye a wink.
Every wave, every hole, every hydraulic feature up until now have prepared us for this notorious white water section and we don’t know if it will be enough. This massive rapid is known to be the most difficult in the Canyon’s entire 280 miles. It is also reputed to be one of the world’s most challenging sections for commercial operation.
We arrive at Lava Falls.
