My dad taught me a similar line in college when he was my boxing coach. He told me once you get in that ring you stare that guy in the eye and let him know that you are not leaving the ring until one of you is carried out.
The distance a person is willing to go depends on that person. Some people wont go far at all because they don't care and are weak. Others will go to what ever lengths or distance that's necessary 💯 👌 because of their strength in what the care about and love...Remember that smh
I've started looking online for stuff to dress my son as Forrest Bondurant for Halloween next year. I don't think many people will "get it" but I'll think it's awesome.
I have 2 older brothers who are 11 and 13 years older than I am and I can relate to this scene. Forest is telling Jack that it's up to him to take the lead in his own life. His brothers will follow him and will always be there to help, but they won't march in front of him, and take control of his problems for him. Family are there to support you through life, not to protect you from it.
That scene is real AF! Forrest doesn't clown his brother, let him know the stakes involved. Yet showed patience and understanding, like a loving brother would. And when his brother tells him straight out...I'm not built like you. That's a fact! Not every man is meant for that life. Forrest was damn near custom built for it. There's a LOT going on in that moment. A great scene in the movie.
THAT'S RIGHT THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL TELLING IT LIKE IT IS....... FORREST DIDN'T HOLD NOTHING BACK ! ! ! NO OTHER ACTOR COULD HAVE PLAYED THIS ROLE OF FORREST EXCEPT TOM HARDY...... I MEAN NOBODY...... HIS NAME IS RIDDEN ALL OVER THE ROLE FOR FORREST BONDURANT.... TOM HARDY IS AN EXCELLENT ACTOR..... THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FILMS. ..
Seth Squire I guess I'm the only one who noticed or interpreted his reaction and response as a brothers love. He didn't want to jack be like him and Howard, liked him just the way was...loved him in fact. The hand-in-hand the brothers love the stuff, like having to tell him that's not an excuse. you still have to rise up and find a way to operate that works with how you are built.
"We are survivors. We control the fear and without the fear we are all as good as dead." Great lines. Excellent acting. Pretty good movie. Outstanding novel.
Outstanding words to live by for what you stand for what is yours. “We are still masters of our fate. We are still Captains of our own souls.” - Winston Churchill Don’t let any big talker push you around. Do what you need to to shut him up the legal way.
I've always wanted brothers like that too cuz you'd feel invincible but I do have 1 brother and we are 5 years apart and let me tell you, the ass kickings and not being "cool" enough to hang out with him sucked ass....just saying...
The casting of these brothers were just perfect, each one of them nailed their characters. Howard (Jason clarke) was a man of few words, but his expressions and mannerisms were top draw, shia was brilliant as the youngest bro, and Tom is just Tom hardy what a beast Forrest was 💯
All those who have a little brother not caught up in what we've done...the greatest quote of all time. A man stands alone, until he doesnt. Love is and will always be there. The making of a man is lonely. A solitude black hole. Only guarantee is that you will be different on the other side.
@@ryangaspar2950 yea I know in age they weren’t but Forrest acted like the oldest because he had a level of guidance and knowledge that even Howard couldn’t even disregard
My two older brothers had to fight a lot in school when we first moved as kids. I was the runt, and felt I had something to prove, so although I'd always take a beating, my fight wouldn't stop until the other guy was exhausted. I wouldn't call it good advice now, but hypocritically, I'm glad of each fight I fought.
In the book he just says the we are survivors and control the fear part. I really like that they improvised the scene, and Tom Hardy's delivery is amazing. Love this movie, and the book is one of my favorites.
When I was a kid, I got beat up in school and came home with a black eye. My big brother gave me a speech eerily similar to this and then took me outside and taught me to fight. When we were done, he told me "As long as I'm alive, I better never hear you lost a fight again. Not unless they kill you. We're fighters, little brother. It's in our blood, and we do not lose."
My older brother had a similar conversation with me, Many years ago, He is 10 years my senior, & he was in trouble & on his way to jail, Though I was only 5-6 years old at the time, I recall he spoke to me as a man, I don’t recall it verbatim, But he told me to Never Lose a Fight, to Win by any & all means necessary… Or he would whoop my ass. It gave me a foundation on which I survived & fought many, all my life & survived against much larger, stronger foes. Though his words were much less eloquent than Forest Bonderant; The meaning behind them were similar in nature.
@@sethael1741 Some people are so arrogant, they miss the point in it’s entirety. Could try to further explain it, But got a strong suspicion, You wouldn’t comprehend.
Never were truer words spoken . This is a movie but God damn if the words are not true. We all need to live this and make this happen. If someone takes from you you give back ten fold to retafy the injustice. In today's world this statement rings true, be a lamb or be a beast don't feel less them zero, be the one who controls the fear and.stand proud for who and what you are.
One of my favourite scenes. I’m the youngest of the main blood brothers, and my youngest brother is my half. Yet he’s my closest little brother I’m most endured too, the respect his little brother has for him is out of respect but also out of love because he knows that’s the only one that actually gives a shit about him as same as I do with my own little brother.
Forrest Asking Jack What do you intend to do now?....Trying to make him tougher person without relying on his Brothers...One of the Realistic Parts In The Movie IMO
grandchamp12345 still some parts of the world that are still like this, UK and America have turned into pussies come to Kashmir, Afghanistan etc see what lifes like out there
This scene changed my life and my way of thinking, you won't find fear in my heart, just a man prepared to go as far as he has too, corny as it sounds lol
I remember losing my very first fight, and my Uncle told me, “As long as you wear my Daddy’s last name, you will never let this happen again. Do you hear me, you’re a Stoker, and Stokers don’t lose fights.” Never lost another one.
I’ve always viewed it somewhat differently. Maybe because I’m not a fighter typically so I always expected to lose a fight at some point. Or get my butt whooped for trying to defend myself. But I was damn sure going to hit em back either hard enough or long enough that whomever it was would be forced to remember my name and/or remember that I was more bother than it was worth to mess with me in the first place.
Must not have been in too many fights - your stupid f#cking uncle stoker or you The only fools who believe they never lost a fight are the ones who think busting up another man's knuckles with their face is winning.
Howard can do the viloence but not as articulated as the other two. Jack can think and talk but is not built for violence. But Forest is both...powerful man. Three very different siblings working together.
He use The Dark Knight Rises Quote "Without the fear we are all as good as dead." Compared to "what can make you stronger, jump higher, run faster then possible then the fear of death? " Tom Hardy should be the next 007 easily
Literally watched this movie once maybe twice a day at least I work a lot ect but still I can't help it between me and my brothers I'm sorry if you don't have a close brother really can't understand the movie I'm the youngest yet I feel like forest
Something subtle I didn't catch the first 8 times watching tbis movie because to..hardy is so fucking awesome in this scene is howards face and body language after tom tells Shia if he's gonna have Howard do it you can tell hes uncomfortable even being asked to-do this as he was planning on doing it already was just waiting for Tom to give the okay and when Tom said that he realised he wasn't gonns get the Okay to go defend his little brother and it really made him.unhappy and you can see it in his body language that he just wants to kill dude for doing that to his little brother.
jake hansen agreed! Howard is more the fly of the handle, and would fight without hesitation for anyone that even looked sideways at his younger brothers kinda guy, and Forrest is just as badass but more calculated.... He has the smarts to realize if Jack is going to survive in their world, he’s got to be able to take care of himself! Also he can’t be the weak link, bc outsiders will continue to use Jack to get to Howard and Forrest
This was a tough time in America. Some people today complain about hyper masculinity, but these guys were MEN. My father lived in a logging camp back in the 40s and said every week the lumberjacks would fight it out to see who was the toughest. They didn't need lawyers to settle disputes (they couldn't have afforded them anyway) just their fists.
Well we all can KO someone if they arent ready for it, if tom hardy is aware of the situation that theres going to be fist flying I dont think shia would win when tom is ready for the punch
harmoney love Shia didn't knock out Tom Hardy what Bollocks That little prick could not out anything people believe that shit fucking stupid Tom Hardy was brilliant in this and the film was pretty good.
shia gets his ass kicked weekly, he goes out, gets drunk at a bar, and starts shit he cant finish, look it up, theres like 20 diferent videos of him getting punched in bars
this fucking scene is still alive in my mind every fucking day. that's how intense it was. now i see tom hardy, shia, and the other brother every fucking where i go
