You can also strip a bread tie and run it thru the jets. It does work.

Another thing I use to clean that jet is the ends of guitar strings,,they are a little tiffee and they are different sizes

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Our push cub cadet string trimmer that has not been run since last year and is about 10 years old kept starting and stopping. So watched several vidoes and yours did the trick. We had no wiring like you had but saw a long bread wrapper and had hubby strip paper off and got it up in there and BAM it started back up and runs again. Saved us $$$$ and waiting for shop to get fixed. Thank you for making this video.

SIMPLEST FIX: No need to remove carburetor, just put carburetor cleaner in the tank. Details below. My mower sat for 18 months with 1/2 full tank (does have fuel stabilizer in it). Symptoms were same as yours except my motor wouldn't start at all until I got some starting fluid. My fix was to top off the tank with fresh fuel and add "Fuel Injector & Carburetor Cleaner" from Walmart (Supertech, 6oz treats 21 gallons). I estimate I used about 3-4 times more than you're supposed to. After adding the carb cleaner, I started the motor several times with starting fluid but no improvement. I let it sit for 24 hours and the next day, with the help of some starting fluid (ether), it cranked up and ran without stopping. I did manually push the throttle open to get the rpms up until it got warm. You may not be so lucky, but its worth a try. I have a Briggs&Stratton 500E.

I have a lawn mower that wouldn't crank so I cleaned the carburetor and the crunk up and I started cutting the grass but half a strip down my yard it cut off and it repeated the same about three times before I decided to try to cut backwards and it worked so why can't I cut forward with that lawn mower?

Helpful for my situation. Just a quick noob question, this is my first mower. The choke has a spring attachment pulling it closed (or open?) And it rotates freely, but it's not attached to anything. Should there be a lever used to adjust it?

I have a Brute 700 series briggs and stratton Mower with the same carb setup and I did exactly what you did and mine still runs but only for about 2 seconds and dies and sometimes it just sputters and trys to run then dies I think I may have a bad carburetor tho possibly

Don't you clean the small hole in the bolt that holds the bowl on? That plugs up also.

Never do a quick and dirty take it off leave it out the right way and put it back together no shortcuts you need to take the emulsion tube and clean it out the right way

Question, how is that 5w-30 is for 40 degrees and below but 10w 30 is the same in the hot temp at a 30 weight, what gives? Why is this?

Mine doesn't start or idle unless I hold in the throttle handle and dies as soon as I let go, it doesn't idle at all. Any idea why? I've cleared my jets they're not clogged, but before this happened my engine was idling up and down and started to cut out when in use. Thanks.
