The more I see this movie the more I appreciate Pete O’Tooles performance and all the great lines scripted. You cannot watch this film just once. It grows on you.
Indeed. I have watched it thirty or forty times since seeing it as a boy in London in 1963 and I still get the same tingle of excitement that I felt then. It remains the outstanding cinematic experience of my life.
“They’ll come for me.” A powerful moment, full of both arrogance and loyalty, as he is overconfident in himself but also trusts that the Arabs will fight for their noble cause rather than for greed. A line that captures both a flaw and a virtue in his character. Wow.
