What a sweet trip down memory lane. While growing up, we lived less than 2 miles from the Aragon Ballroom on Lick Pier in Ocean Park. My mom worked for Mr. Welk in his business office on the pier in the mid-fifties and would share personal reflections about many of his band members while we watched his weekly broadcast on TV. It was a time of innocence with such clean and lovely entertainment.
ANOTHER TOP OF THE POPS SHOW, SOME NEW SONGS, AS USUAL THE MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS WERE GREAT. DANCING OBVIOUSLY WAS THE THEME CARRIED OUT IN THE USUAL PERFECTLY BALANCED. WAY THE NEW DANCE ROUTINES WERE PERFECT. AS FOR ARTHUR, HE NEVER FAILS TO IMPRESS. WHERE DOES HE GET ALL HIS ENERGY FROM TO GIVE SUCH WORLD CLASS TAPS. ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF THE SHOW.
Loved the CR Quintet as always. As much I as loved Sandi's voice, it was nice to have Gail's at the same output level here. Gail did this 5 yrs later with her trio and did a great job carrying it.
