LAWYER: Ways Cops Can TRICK You During a Traffic Stop! 

I was a U. S. Marine for fifteen years. During that time I was "FAPed" to the station Military Police (Fleet Assist Program, it is temporary duty to provide assistance to a supporting activity.). I served through a lot of crappy positions while I was taught the constitutional rights of citizens and the Federal legal exemptions to those right authorized by the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). I was actually taught the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments to the constitutions which are the first six (6) parts of the "Bill of Rights." I was then assigned to Patrol. When I got out of the Marines, I entered the Southern California Peace Officer's School at Riverside Community College. I was hired by the college Police Department. We regularly worked with and did ride alongs with the Riverside County Sheriffs Office. I was on a ride along with the RSO Deputy Fernandez. We observed a Black male enter a Mercedes in the driveway of a home in an expensive area of Riverside County. He seemed to be having a hard time putting it in gear and finally allowed it to roll down the driveway (the house was higher than the service road so the car could roll backwards while not under power) without starting the car. He then rolled down the hill while not under power until he got to a stop sign. Deputy Fernandez then initiated a traffic stop for Driving without headlights after sunset. He asked the driver to get out of the car first thing, without even stating that he was a Deputy or advising the reason for the stop. When the driver asked why, Fernandez reached in through the window and grabbed the driver by his hoodie and hair dragging the man out through the window (this is before seat-belts were required). Getting to the point, the car belonged to the driver and he was trying to be quiet because he was going to work at the local surgery center where he was a neural surgeon. The reason he had been quiet starting out was his wife was head nurse, in that same hospital where he worked, in charge of the night shift and had just got to sleep. The driver was a millionaire and an honored member of the City of Garden Grove. I did not know this when it happened, but I knew what Deputy Fernandez was doing was a violation of the individuals rights so I immediately physically stopped Fernandez. He arrested me for interference, assault on an officer, resisting and about four other minor things that were quickly thrown out. It was not until the Doctor testified at my arraignment that the DA dropped all the remaining charges. I was still trying to get a job with the RSO or Riverside city so I did not sue. I was fired from the Riverside community College Police Department the next day and never got a job with another department. I finally opened my own security agency and I now have a very comfortable portfolio. But both the Doctor and myself knew from that day forward that there is a disconnect between the policing agencies and the people.

Its time for "citizen safety" to be on equal grounds as "officer safety".

How the courts could possibly rule that consent to a search is consent to destruction of your property is totally beyond me.

I am a 73-year-old Hispanic man. When I was 17 years old, I drove a 1959 GMC pickup. It was all primer gray. I was at my girlfriend‘s house playing cards with her and her parents. Her father said I will buy if you fly for pizza. So my girlfriend and I jumped in my truck drove down to Thompson Boulevard in Ventura, California to pick up a pizza that we had ordered over the phone. We got about one block from the pizza joint. When the Ventura PD pulled me over at gunpoint. Told us to put our hands on the dash at 17 years old getting a gun pointed at your head is quite frightening. My girlfriend started to shake and was crying. The officer told me to stick my hands out the window, and he was flashing. A light at my hands, told me to show him my hands and arms. Turn your hands over he said, let me see your underside. He said I matched the description of an armed robbery in Santa Barbara, California and the man had tattoos on his hands and arms. I do not have a tattoo on my body even today. He pulled us both out of the truck at gunpoint separated us in different cars. They tore my truck apart, took the seat out, ripped the glove box out took the spare out of the back my jack and whatever else I had they had scattered on the sidewalk. They kept telling me that I was a armed robber. We kept saying we don’t know what you’re talking about. We just left my father-in-law‘s house he’s the chief of the fire department here in Ventura. Call him. They wouldn’t do it. We were there for about 45 minutes to an hour. They threw my pizza on the sidewalk. Finally a white shirt came and said he has no tattoos on his hands or arms let him go, no apologies no nothing. They left all my shit strung out on the sidewalk. My girlfriend and I had to put everything back in the truck including my front seat. We went to the house My girlfriend’s dad asked what took you so long we told him what it happened and my girlfriend was still hysterical and crying. She said I thought we were going to die. They threw Joey on the floor and jumped on top of him my chin and my elbow in my nose were scuffed up and bleeding. My girlfriend‘s father, being the chief of the fire department, called the chief of police and ask, what the hell did they do that, the cop from the beginning new I had no tattoos, but they did it anyway. So we got a formal apology letter, but so what. Cops can kiss my ass from that day forward I’ve hated them. Today I’m a retired firefighter and I can tell you firsthand, the bad things that I’ve seen that they’ve done to people and got away with! They are trash with guns. I tell my children and grandchildren do not talk to them do not make iContact with them and for God sake don’t get involved with them. They will kill you.

He made a mistake at 7:45. When they ask you if you mind if they search your car for a minute, you should always answer no." Answering no means you don't mind. It's a trick question. The proper answer is "I don't consent to searches."

Again if cops are legally allowed to LIE, how can judges and the public KNOW they aren't lying on the infraction or supposed crime? The FACT they can, will and do lie regularly makes anything they say or write uncredible.

Maybe cops should be arresting illegals, terrorists, cartels, but leave law abiding citizens alone. Start in congress.

Back in the early 90s I was driving my first new car, and got stopped by a cop for speeding (I was - 11 over). They said they would give me a warning, and asked if it was OK if they did a quick search of my car. I'd purchased it new, and was certain there was nothing illegal inside it, so I said yes. They tore off the door panels, ripped out the back seats, opened the hood and tore apart the air intake. They found nothing after a half hour, and ended the encounter by throwing my air filter down the road as they walked back to their car and left. It was just under $4000 in repairs to fix the damage, and my lawyer told me I had no recourse. I've been stopped 9 times in my life. 4 of them were good stops (I had broken a driving law), the other five were 100% lies, but I never allowed a search again, and you can be certain I learned my rights, and record every second of every cop encounter.

Excellent video. What some people don’t realize is a lot of officers are more interested in seizing your assets or car so they will be relentless on insisting on a search or looking for any reason.

When I was a kid was riding with a buddy; stone sober. We saw the cops behind us, 2 in one cruiser. My buddy had it nailed to the speed limit. This went on for miles, them behind us, my bud driving like an absolute saint. Finally we got to a gas station and decided "enough of this, we'll pull in and they'll have to go on their way". Nope. Followed us in, lights come on. Ordered out of the car and separated. Only thing the cop said to me that I recall was "empty your pockets". As luck would have it I was taking constitutional law classes at the time and I said "I don't have to do that, it's a violation of my rights". He said, "WHAT?" I started to say something about the 4th amendment and some case- can't recall. He cut me off and said "empty your pockets now or you're going to jail." I did and he got to look at my pocket change. We were two completely innocent kids doing absolutely nothing other than driving down the highway. I never forgot it. I had other incidents with cops pulling me over and demanding access to my trunk, multiple times, but the pocket one and his absolute dismissal of me asserting my rights and the threat of jail sticks out the most. So yeah, I"m a huge fan of body and dash cams. I know cops don't like them,. But like they are so fond of saying, "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE? IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT."

If a cop asks "Do you mind if I search your car?" then you should never say Yes or NO; you should ALWAYS say "I do NOT consent to any searches or seizures." Keep repeating it as often as necessary to get the cop to stop asking, and make sure his body cam is on.

So cops initiate the confrontation then they complain they’re concerned about the safety. Screw them!

I had a cop tell me that not consenting to a search was probable cause to search my vehicle. He got fired that night. If a cop asks me to step out of the car I tell him, "I do not consent to a search of my vehicle or person and I again invoke my right to remain silent." Usually, the police respect those requests when they don't have probable cause. If they search without probable cause don't resist. Sue the crap put of them and their department because they've destroyed their sovereign immunity at that point.

Nothing will piss a cop off more, then when they're looking for something and you have nothing

I got pulled over after a long day at work. I was driving down a rural road I wasn't familiar with and tired as I was, I drifted over the middle line a little bit. Cop lit me up, and I drove to where I knew it was safe and pulled over at the next gas station. The officer asked me why I took so long to pull over, and I told him that on my way out to the job site, I remembered there being a ditch over on the side of the road around here and I didn't want to put us in it. He then Asked if I minded if he searched my vehicle. I responded "I don't consent to a search." He walked around my car with his flashlight, and when he didn't find anything to prompt him to do a search, he let me go. I'm glad most cops realize that if they search you after you don't consent, even if they find anything and they didn't have a reason to search to begin with, they will not get the conviction.

Northbound on the Texas side of the Red River, I was stopped for alleged speeding. First question I asked the cop: was my speed measured by laser or radar? Officer replied “radar”. My next question: was mine the only vehicle moving in the radar beam? Officer had to acknowledge that there were more than just my vehicle in motion in the radar cone. My next question: then, since my car does not have a transponder, how could your radar determine that my vehicle was the one returning the echo? Officer wrote and handed me a warning only. Everyone learning to drive should be required to learn the Constitution and all their rights.

You are required to step out 'if the cop feels he is in danger', which makes no sense since you are just as dangerous once you are outside the vehicle. Officer safety trumps your constitutional rights is how SCOTUS has set the system up to fail for we he people!

I saw a video where the driver gave consent to search. The cop took out a knife and slit the seats and floor carpet looking for evidence. I agree with "NEVER GIVE CONSENT".

"We got a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area that matches your vehicle" Wow! That's shocking how many times my car has been matched a suspicious vehicle this month in my neighborhood. Huh? Lol!

Recently i was pulled over for no tag light. The cop asked me if i had all my old fines paid. I said yes. He asked me again two more times after returning to his car each time. The third time he returned he wanted to know who i was talking to(i was on my phone). I told him my lil brother. He said get off the phone now. I said why? He said can i search your pickup? I said for what? He said i told you to get off your phone. I said, can you really make me get off the phone because im supposed to be able to legally record this kinda stuff aren't i. He said get out of the truck. I said ,why man whats goin on? He snatched my door open and said, because you are going to jail for disorderly conduct. Cuffed me and stuck me in the back of his police car and for an hour i sat there looking at my tag light shining because my truck was still running while the cops mingled around and played with the drug dog or whatever and found nothing. I dont even think any cop searched me, patted me down, or anything. I had my little Yorkie dog with me in the truck and he was traumatized when i found him the next day at an animal rescue house as soon as i got out of jail. I then had to find my pickup which was towed to another town and cost almost $300 to get it back. I went to jail for disorderly conduct, no tag light, and no proof liability insurance. After bonding out of jail, paying to get my truck back, and updating insurance i was out of just over $900 and spent a night and the next day all day incarsarated. I cant afford a lawyer and will probably get stuck with another$1300 - $1500 worth of tickets after court because of a tag light. At the preliminary hearing no tickets got dropped and having insurance didnt help because im going to trial next month to be prosecuted for all three tickets, to the fullest. Cops think nothing about an already struggling to pay bills person that makes them money from tickets they write even if they have to lie for it. Cops think nothing about what goes throu someones mind after sitting in jail a couple days for no reason at all. Cops think nothing at all about why and how their lives truly are in danger after years and years of the same bullshit done to someone that is tired. Very tired.

As a much younger and dumber man, I got pulled over during my evening commute from work on a country road. I didn’t know why. So I grabbed my registration and proof of insurance, got my driver’s license, got out of my car and trotted back to the police car. I didn’t know how much that freaks them out! I thought I was being helpful and respectful, saving him from getting out and standing in the rain. And he could tell by my walking that I wasn’t drunk. Apparently, if you are in your car, they want you out, and if you are out of your car, they want you in. Officer safety.

if he says he is going to get a drug dog how about tell him to call internal affairs while he is detaining you longer than necessary so you will be filing a law suit against the department.

dealt with a cop when i was younger claimed he smelled weed in the car and my friends all laughed at him and stated he was a dirty cop... the cop looked puzzled... they then told me to let him search the car so they could prove he was dirty... he asked why they were so sure he was dirty... one of them screwed up and told him why..... I'm allergic to pot... it's a food allergy LMFAO!!! so if he found any.. he planted it.. as none of my friends ever smoked or carried around me.....well i told him to have a lookie.. and funny thing is.. he didn't find anything with 8 kids watching him and laughing... there is more to the story as he also made some false claims to pull me over.. claimed i was speeding even though we saw him long before he ever saw us and everyone was watching my speedometer... i was under the whole time .. the whole story is much funnier and more involved.. but is true they will do anything to get to search you or arrest you...

Let's not forget when the LEO asks you to step out of the car make sure you roll your windows up and lock your car. This keeps the LEO's from illegally entering your car. If they break windows to enter then you have another lawsuit against them.

North Carolina aggressive tyrant "trooper" Christopher Oxendine is my reason for protecting myself against TYRANTS!!!!!! After Oxendine pulled me over after HE violated THREE North Carolina Statutes during a 12 mile stretch of i-85, Following to Closely, Aggressive Driving, and Wreckless Driving under cover of night, TYRANT Oxendine pulled me over and issued me, after I told him "I DON'T LIKE TAILGATERS", TWO CITATIONS in June of 2023. I beat him in court October of 2023. I knew the law and I showed up for court. Case dismissed before I had to appear before a judge.

I was stopped once for a bad brake light. Was asked for a search, I refused. He then said he will impound my car and search it anyway, at my cost.

I was driving 2 mph below the speed limit out on I-35 and had a Sheriff's deputy tailgate me for 20 minutes. I figured he was looking for any excuse to pull me over so I didn't touch the cruise and speed up, I didn't change lanes, I did nothing except stay in my lane and drive straight and maintain my speed. He followed me to the county line and took the next exit. Apparently obeying the law is pretty suspicious to LEOs too.

Same exact thing happened to me in 1985. I was driving my lowered 67 Beetle and I let a cop search my car. He disassembled my car. He pulled the firewall out of it, the seats, everything. Then got in his car and said, see ya. Leaving me to put my car back together.

A lot of times cops ask you to get out of the car or to pat you down hoping you’ll resist so the cop can arrest you.

Years and years and years ago I had a problem with little critters setting up house in my '78 Chevy Blazer, we lived in the middle of a forest, and I always left the removable top off the truck in the Summer, and one night I was pulled over for speeding. The cop asked if he could search the truck, and since I was pretty sure I had at least one little animal hiding somewhere in the Blazer I decided to have some fun, and told the cop to go right ahead and search. Then I stepped back and waited. Cop starts searching, and when he gets to the back of the truck where I had a ton of stuff stored he suddenly yells and jumps back a mile - seems I had been right, there was a decent sized Opossum hiding back there, and he was not happy the cop had disturbed him. Cop tried to say I knew it was back there, but I just laughed at that - even if I had known, how exactly could I have kept the thing from jumping out of the truck whenever it wanted to?

@7:46 when a cop askes "do you mind if search your car", its a no-win scenario. If you say "yes", then its an ok to search. Similarly if you say "no", then its an ok to search. I have seen courts (in VA) interpret the result this way. NLA-but the bet is to clearly say "I do not consent to a search".

I had a police officer attempt to pull me over but kept turning his lights off everytime I stopped so I continued to the highway the third time . Which involved 2 other jurisdictions . If hadn't I would faced , driving without a license, factious plates , no registration or insurance and evasion. Instead Highway patrol stopped his actions and explained I was a dealer transport and the insurance was 6 Million dollar coverage for any driver/vehicle in any state as was the registration. So I didn't need a license with it . Plus having 2 plates on the vehicle was because of a repossession. That officer ended up getting charged with harassment for multiple times of pulling me over in the same area on Fridays.

"If you don't have anything to hide, why won't you let me search?" "Because I have the right to be secure in my person and belongings. You don't have a warrant or even articulable probable cause to suspect me of a crime, otherwise you wouldn't be asking me, so why do YOU want to?"

How do I go about trying to revoke officer safety? What about the safety of the citizen? We have given up our safety for the officer's. That doesn't seem to fly in the common sense arena.

Regarding damage from a search of a vehicle or even a home for that matter, you can now it seems it's been successfully done twice in two different districts, you can now sue the police department and an officer on the takings clause because when they are seizing your property they are temporarily taking it Of this type of lawsuit three attempts have been made one is being appealed the other two were won.

I was stopped by Santa Monica's finest many years ago during a wolfpack style dragnet on Main Street near where I lived at the time. I was driving my Barely Legal race car - A lowered Honda Civic I used as my daily driver. It was OBVIOUSLY a race car. It had no interior, a Kevlar racing seat, a 5 point harness, and a shift light - all of which were in plain view, but perfectly legal. Cop who pulled me over had a "hunch" I had made illegal modifications to my engine, but my engine was concealed under a beautiful light-wieght carbon fiber hood, so he couldn't SEE anything illegal. Understand that in California, any illegal modifications to CARB certified emissions equipment are punishable by a $10,000 fine. For EACH modification! Now I'm not saying there was anything non-CARB certified attached to my engine, and I'm not saying there wasn't a TON of ILLEGAL PERFORMACE ENHANCING MODIFICATIONS to that car's engine. All that is between me and the gods of SPEED. Anyway, the cop told me to "Step out of the car and open the hood". So I rolled up the windows, stepped outta the car, and locked it. Again he ordered me to "open the hood" to which I replied "No - you do not have permission to search my vehicle officer" politely but firmly. "WHY NOT?" "...because I'm a very private person. You DO NOT have my permission to search my vehicle" ...what followed was a predictable series of demands and threats about impounding my car and getting a search warrant followed by me saying: "Do whatever you have to do, but you DO NOT have permission to search my car" Long story short, he cited me for "Failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk (false charge #1) and "Illegal Muffler" (False charge #2) I drove off with my race-car, fought both tickets, and WON. The secret is to know your rights and responsibilites, the limits of the cop's authority, and the games they like to play to get you to consent to waiving your rights. It's like playing poker. They will lie and bluff and try to intimidate you because they are allowed to by law. Don't take it personally. Don't get angry. Remain calm and polite, assert your rights, and then STFU. If they want to impound your car, they will impound your car, search or no search. If they want to arrest you, they will arrest you, regardless of your guilt or innocence. Your best bet is remain as silent as possible. You are not required to assist them in thier attempts to incriminate you. If you can't keep your mouth shut, change the subject. If they ask you if you have any drugs, say "Do YOU have any drugs?" If they say "How many drinks have you had tonight" say "How many have you had tonight?" See what I'm doing there? Answer their question with their question. Nothing illegal about having a 3rd grade playground conversation with them. Might make them mad though, and it's unwise to deliberately piss off professional thugs with big guns, small penises, handcuffs, stun guns, and interrogation rooms and rapey jai lcells they can confine you in after they beat your ass senseless. So answer their question with your own innocuous small-talk question if you feel chatty. Change the subject like you're suffering from demetia. Better yet, evangilze 'em if they keep asking incriminating questions: "You seem like a good person. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior?" If they say, "As a matter of I have, asshole...", ask them to kneel down and pray with you on the spot for world peace and an end to homosexual marraige. If they say "No! TELL ME HOW MANY BEERS YOU DRANK AT THE TITTY BAR TONIGHT!!!!" start educating them about Joseph Smith and the book of Mormon. This works with any subject really. Teach them about the early 20th century sufferage movement. Dinosuars, Stamp Collecting. Differential Calculus. Your favorite TikToc make-up artist. They'll let you go soon enough.

I was pulled over for the use of off-road lights. During the stop, I gave no consent for a search. The officer was a canine unit (my luck). The cop let his goddamn German Shepherd stand up on his hind legs while he sniffed allowing his front paws to scratch my black paint on every single part of the car, except the hood. This was especially noticeable by the driver door because the window was down. Totally demolished the outside of my car beyond what a cut and polish could fix. I was paid no restitution. Case in point: I was driving my Nissan pick up, to pick up a to go order for my family. At a stop light, a blue Honda pulled up next to me. The change to green, the Honda took off a a high rate of speed. I continued to travel with in the posted speed limit 0f 40mph. Suddenly, in my rear view mirror, I see red and blues rapidly approaching from behind. I thought, he is going after the blue Honda that was way ahead of me. To my surprise, he pulled up behind me. He hit his siren , I pulled over. A male officer approached my window. Confused, I rolled it down. He asked to see my license, registration and proof of insurance. I asked what was the problem? He did not answer. I noticed to my right , on the side walk ; a female officer standing with her hand on her service weapon. After about ten minutes, the male officer came back to my window, handed my ID and such.. He stated, "The reason I pulled you over is because your license plate Looked Funny". I asked him to please show me the issue with my plate, so I could correct any issues. He told me to stay in my vehicle and leave. I drove a block or so, got out and looked at my plate. There was nothing wrong with my plate. Tags were up to date and plate was totally visible. Location: Thomas Rd. west bound- Scottsdale, AZ

I got pulled over by a lying cop a couple weeks ago, said I was "drifting" which was bullshit. I politely refused to answer any questions so he had me wait, then came back and tried to tell me my name came back for a felony warrant but he thought it might be a mistake, and asked me if I had been arrested or been in jail. Well that finally got me talking and told him I had no criminal record except a night in the drunk tank 21 years ago, no charges. He warned me that I shouldn't mess with the police and flip attitude because of this mistaken identity warrant in my name, that next time it could result in me getting thrown on the ground and handcuffed. I have a lot of respect for the good cops out there, but all are trained liars and manipulators.

A few years back in Fort Worth I was asked if they could search my vehicle. I didnt know I should say no at the time. I let them. They tore my car apart for 30 minutes found nothing and then let me go saying "Have a nice day". They spent 30 minutes desperately trying to send me to jail and ruin my life while I was on the way to pick up my daughters. Then they said "Have a nice day". Wow.

And the police wonder why people call them pigs.

There is no way we as citizens have any way to protect ourselves in this kind of experience!

I drove away from an establishment that served alcohol and was pulled over. When I asked the officer why he pulled me over, he said "you were weaving within your lane". Never mind that I didn't cross the line. I was "weaving within my lane". At the bar, I deliberately started drinking club soda before I was going to leave the establishment. This saved me because I took a breathalyzer and was below the legal limit. The cop then asked me if I was going to walk home or take a cab. I told him I was within the legal limit so I was going to drive home. He said "Neither one of us would feel good if you ran into someone on the way home." So I took a cab a few miles and the cab driver told me he would take me back to my vehicle since the cop would most probably be gone. So he drove me back and I drove home.

I would NOT let a LEO to search my vehicle… and this is why.. I should add, I’m former LEO… My brother had his vehicle searched by consenting, he had a few very expensive items missing after the search.. the sad thing is, I know the officer that did the search, and I feel the hunting items were taken by him, he is a big hunter and eventually moved to become a game warden..

In Australia, I have experienced when cops last pulled me over (cops do not need a reason to pull people over), once I stopped, one cop asked me to get out the car to talk to me & the other races over to my car to search it, without asking my permission, so when the officer doesn't find anything, he then starts to go over the car to defect it. (it costs $600 to take your defected car to a specified place to tell you what you need to change on your car in order to comply with the law, then another $600 to take it back again in hope they will pass your car & take the defect off). It is illegal for them to search without my permission but they get away with it, they do get angry, make it more difficult for you & threaten to lock you up if you dispute it, I did got charges dropped in court due to illegal search but it's too late, they already either defected &/or impounded my car, where if impounded I can never afford to get it out because a car has to strictly stay in impound for 1 month, then after that month we have to pay over $1200 to get it out & if you don't get it out yet, it's $37 a day/ everyday that it's stuck in impound. In other words iv lost my car because of these bastards picking on me in the 1st place. And they get away with it. Aussies have no rights what so ever, no bill of rights, no amendments.

Was once pulled over in my gf's car for expired registration. They asked to search the car and I refused. They asked why and said I looked nervous, and claimed they smelled weed and were going to get a K9 unit there. I said it is normal for anyone to be nervous in a stop. You can't search my car, but if you want to waste your time with the K9, be my guest. I remained calm for about 30 minutes while they had me standing against the car in the hottest part of Houstons summer, also refused to let me get on my phone to try and call anyone (as they knew it was a bogus stop), and then finally they said I was free to go. I was far from my apartment and was just going to my gf's brothers house because she left her purse there which was only a half block from where they pulled me over. When I initially passed them they were working on another stop and I waved at them, as I was trying to be friendly. Next thing I know I'm being pulled over and they said because I was from so far away on the other side of Houston, they suspected me of being a drug dealer essentially. What nonsense. Oh, and one cop came to the passenger side, so they tried to claim that the breeze from both sides windows being open was how they smelled Marijuana. Which was comical because I don't smoke anything, let alone ever in my gf's car. So pro tip, don't open the passenger side window. Anyways, once I left they followed me the half block to see me get the purse which I told them about. As I was walking back to the car I saw they had turned around to watch and possibly pursue me again, so I held it up with my middle finger sticking out. They followed me for a few more blocks just to be extra massive pricks, and then finally broke off. Anyways, yeah, NEVER consent to anything. They will try anything and everything to try and find some sort of punishable offense...

I've been asked to step out of my vehicle twice in my driving history and both times I locked my vehicle after exiting. Police asked why I locked the vehicle and I answered because they asked me to exit. Never any issues.

Established you have to also bear in mind. Most police houses act like your friend, they're not your friend. They're being nice because they want to get more information out of you don't surrender any information to the police when they pull you over. I don't they actually feel a license, and you registration, just give them that and be quiet, that's the best thing to do. Don't offer any information or even hold a conversation with them. I don't hold conversations with them even when they're nice. Because I know they're trying to be slick.

ALWAYS keep your papers (registration, insurance) together in an area that doesn't require opening any compartments (i.e. the passenger side sun shade). I'm surprised that nobody mentions that.

Officer safety is not as important as Citizen safety. And FAR too many cops are violent when there is no reason to be.

Basically I've just learned that cops can basically do ANYTHING they want, regardless of specific laws. It's all about control and inconveniencing the Public. The other thing is that most times the body has a natural defense mechanism causing the body to become somewhat tense, which is then wrongfully interpreted as resisting and the cops us this harmless reaction to beef up their unnecessary detainment. There needs to be more emphasis on being civil to other human beings until they feel threatened. Just my 2 cents!

What about the catch all "you look nervous"? This is so subjective and they use that for probable cause. This needs to be addressed in congress.

2:05 AM a roadhouse in the country in a state with a 2AM liquor sales cut off. A Cop is hiding in the bushes waiting for easy DUI pickin's. A really drunk looking guy stumbles out the door, falls down, gets up and stumbles to a car in the parking lot. Before he gets in he unzips his pants and pisses all over his own car. He gets in and drives off nearly missing parked cars. The Cop immediately lights him up and pulls him over. Guy is given a field sobriety test as dozens of Roadhouse patrons drive away. The "drunk" guy aces the test - he has more coordination than Barishnakov, he says the alphabet faster backwards than most people can say it forwards. The Cop is shocked and finally asks the guy "You looked drunk as shit -- what gives?". The guy sweetly responds "Well Officer I'm tonight's designated decoy".

Every cop can smell even imaginary imarajuana in your car giving them probable cause.

Cop: "Do you mind if I search the car?" Anyone: "Do you have a warrant to search the vehicle? If not, then I do not permit the search."

I had a police officer off duty once tell me the way traffic laws are written that he could follow the best driver for one mile and identify on average seven legitimate reasons to pull someone over.

Reasonable suspicion is how they get you,no matter what they can and will lie about anything. Just remember that,don't fight on the road get them in court,when they least expect it.

My only point is to remember that the courtroom is the place to plead your case, not the side of the road. Also, be respectful and don't provide officers evidence to charge you with anything. Say I prefer to remain silent, and ask when you are free to go. If your rights are being violated again, the courtroom is where you prove that not the side of the road.

13 min mark, yes the law is clear about prolonging traffic stops…but YT is also full of videos wherein cops make innocent folks wait for a K9 to come from 10-20 miles away to run the car’s perimeter to try and develop RAS/PC to search it. And we all know any handler can induce an “alert” from his dog whenever he wants. So there are countless of drivers who say there were no drugs in the car, yet dog alerted, only to find NO Drugs in the car after they ransacked it.

I think it's also important to tell the cop that that you demand to have an attorney present during questioning.

I’m a law abiding citizen of Florida and the officers here are the worst. I’m constantly harassed, going under speed limit, going over speed limit(by a few mph each time). I paid. Ticket in full and was pulled over a year later to say I hadn’t complied, I was supposed to take a class they didn’t tell me about and it cost me another $186, then I was charged a fine they didn’t tell me about(a $10 reinstatement fee) that turned into another $466 of fines plus the $10. People like Florida because no state income tax, they get the money through tyranny. They finally leave me alone now because I have a good attorney on retainer and a bondsman. Cops suck! If you want to live here, get a good attorney

The go-to Prob Cause for a stop in my opinion, is 'you swerved' or 'you hit the white line' is the first place the cops go. Try and disprove that.

Please expand on your example of being required to pull over. What if a Dallas cop drives all the way to New Mexico and tries to pull someone over in a completely different state? At that point the cop isn’t a cop. He’s just a regular citizen impersonating a cop. Not only that, the cop has effectively abandoned their post as well.

15:30 he mentions "Do not consent to a search" and "Do not resist arrest." If you do, you'll likely make it worse and they'll arrest you and search your car anyway. He says this is an "Inventory search." Actually it's called a "Search to incident of arrest." They can search the car, after an arrest, even if it's the passenger who got arrested. Anything outside of that would be an "Inventory search", specifically if they tow the car. Reason being is they want to document everything in the car so "YOU" the car owner can't claim you're missing something valuable. It protects the Police and tow operator. An "Inventory search" can also apply when you're involved in an accident. You've been carted off by ambulance and the car is left there at the scene. The police can't just leave it there, so they tow it. But first they do an "Inventory search" and if they find anything illegal, it can be used against you. I'm a retired cop (27 years) and I agree with 98% of this video, except for the time I specified above regarding the search to incident of arrest vs inventory search. You might be wondering why I would agree with this video. 1) I've had my career so I don't care much anymore, 2) it doesn't matter how much you try to educate people about their rights, they still allow the Police to search their car. Most criminals are stupid. If they watched this video today, tomorrow they get pulled over, there's a good chance they'll let the officer search their car if asked. And I'm not kidding either.

im always respectful and nice i actually appreciate law enforcement they serve as a shield between us an the bad guys when i gets stop. i always tell the officer that im "carrying. and i hand them my insurance and registration plus a copy of my CWL. i have never been asked to get out. but if i ever ask im locking my doors behind me. not because i have something to hide but i dont want them searching my car

Last time I was pulled over, it was for going 73 in 70 and failing to signal 300' before lane changes. I was driving cross country and all of a sudden, I have someone tailgating me. Didn't realize it was a cop. I get over to the right lane and this car remains in my blind spot. after a mile or two in the right lane, I come up on a truck (65 limit for them) so I get back to the left, pass them quickly and get back to the right. Car stayed on my ass/ blind spot the whole time. This repeated another 2-3 times over 5-10 miles and That was when he lit me me. Definitely felt like a dirty trick to me.. All I thought was that I was dealing with a bad driver and was giving them every opportunity to pass me and create more space. Fuck that guy.

As a licensee of a weapon, you declare "I am armed", that answer the question for officers' safety. The officer is allowed in to disarm you for the duration of the stop.

I have a dash cam, video glasses, video pen, and a video watch. It’s a must to record these clowns. If they are looking for trouble, they will find it with me.

In PA you don't have to roll your window down. You only have to show your license, registration, and proof of insurance. You can place it against the window, so they can see it. If they ask you to get out, i guess you must get out.If they don't ask you to get out, they can place any ticket under your wiper. You won't make the police happy.

The 4th amend. guarantees security against unreasonable searches and/or seizures, so the gov't reversed it. According to Ed Snowden's book Permanent Record, the NSA instantly copies every single transmission that moves through the network, then stores it in their servers, to be rifled through at a later time. In other words they seize then search. Afterward use the info to "insure compliance" through a "mutual understanding of certain consequences and actions" should they perceive a potential problematic citizen.

Always record your interactions with LE. You can say no, but they'll get a K9 anyway and get the dog to false detect. Cops always think you are guilty and suspicious.

The correct answer is, "In point of fact, I do object to a search." This wording cannot be misinterpreted, intentionally or not, as giving consent. There are, of course, variations to this word choice with the same result, but a simple no can easily be taken as consent.

They ask for license and registration. They don't ask for insurance anymore. It's in the motor vehicle system which they have access to now.
