"I know of someone who has lost over 50 members of their family in Gaza. This is devastation" "The only way to move forward is two states, we cannot lose sight of that."
To make what difference ? Name any political party that could come to power that would make things better or serve the people as they are supposed to do
There is no point in a state if there is no nation. We saw it in Afghanistan. A state with no nation is going to be appropriated and run by some corporate group in the interest of the group. We know one Palestinian state - it’s Israel. It’s a nation of ethnic Jews (70%), ethnic Arabs (20%) and some other ethnic groups. It has clear identity, citizenship and nationalised government. There is a second Palestinian state - Jordan. Jordan is somewhere in between a true nation and a corporate freehold but at least Jordan’s monarchy is capable of making agreements and following them. There are some territories around controlled by militant groups where statehood have failed because there is no nation (Lebanon, West Bank, Gaza). I wonder what kind of nationhood is really possible there? Giving freedom to Hamas-held enclave would only create another ISIS, a territory and population owned by a gang of murderous maniacs.
Your data is incorrect, yes sources state that Israel has around 70% Jewish by population, it also puts the population at around 9 million people. So here is the issue, the West Bank and Gaza Strip have around 4.5 million people so these numbers cannot be taken into account in the 9 million figure, as this would not be logical, and if you attempted to bring all parts to a single state solution then the government would not be a Jewish government. This is why the two state solution is needed, although the current concept of West Bank and Gaza makes no sense as these areas need a land bridge. What makes a nation, we’ll certainly not a number of colonies in the americas (so the British government thought) these colonies is now the United States. People determine that they are nation, not the United Nations.
@@davidstone408 ISIS were a bunch of people who decided they wanted to be an Islamic nation... according to you we should have let them get on with it?
@@davidstone408 I used official data. According to the official data, 20% of Israeli citizens are Arabs, most of them identify as Palestinian by background and Israeli by citizenship. This number does not include the population of the territories under the Palestinian Authority. State isn’t an ethnic derivative; state is a social apparatus governing population on a designated territory. The fact that people of two or more various ethnic backgrounds live on a territory does not mean they need to be governed by a similar number of states. A nation is a collective of citizens who have nationalised their state, and nothing else. A great number, if not a majority, of states that exist today are not nations. They are corporate entities controlling territories and populations. Neither Chinese People Republic nor Russian Federation are nations. These are corporate freeholds where ruling corporations treat the countries they control very much as colonies. The same can be said about the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. There is a hope that the former can evolve into a national government; the latter is a Nazi mob. Israel is a nation - not without problems, of course. There is no point in a state where a nation is absent. If Palestinians under the PA build a nation, there is no problem with two or more states. If they continue existing at the disposal of corporate gangs, such state would benefit not Palestinians but only the gangs and gangsters.
@@happyjonn9242 Nation, as I have mentioned, is a collective of citizens who nationalised their state. ISIS were a national-socialist corporation that create a corporate-controlled state. In ISIS state population was completely barred from controlling the ruling corporation. Therefore, ISIS, like Nazi Germany, wasn’t a nation.
Were you dancing in the streets when Palestinians were being murdered in the West Bank by the hundreds for decades? 34 kids killed by Israelis last year, zero convictions as usual.
